Johnny Leach(I)
- Camera and Electrical Department
- Cinematographer
- Director
Johnny Leach grew up in the rural Ozarks region of Missouri. The rising
popularity of VHS distribution during his formative years exposed him
to a wide spectrum of cinema, ranging from Chaplin's "the Gold Rush" to
"the Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
He started making narrative video shorts during his mid-teens, incorporating friends, family, and any resources they had to offer into his work. Eventually he attended Missouri State University, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in film production.
After finishing his schooling, he stumbled into the burgeoning hdslr movement, which put the means of production in the hands of indie filmmakers to an unprecedented degree. This was a pivotal time in his development as a writer, director, editor, and cinematographer...to the point where he was able to give up day jobs, devoting himself to cinema full-time.
A brief stint in the independent film scene in Austin, TX served as a stepping stone to Los Angeles, where he currently resides.
