In its regular weekly blog post, “Destiny 2” developer Bungie revealed on Thursday its plans for the game’s second year of content support. The live broadcast will take place on Bungie’s Twitch channel on June 5 at 9 a.m. Pt.
Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed in a recent earnings call that “Destiny 2” would receive a “major expansion” at the end of this year. Given the success of 2015’s “The Taken King,” and the fact that only two seasons’ worth of content was included in the “Destiny 2” season pass, it seems reasonable to speculate that the game will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps with a larger, more cinematic story expansion that will cost players somewhere in the $40 range.
At a recent community summit, Bungie invited a number of high-profile “Destiny” influencers to the studio to try out future content, and YouTuber Datto made it clear in a recent video...

A pre-release reboot may explain Destiny 2's controversial loot box and microtransaction features...
On a recent episode of the Dtr Podcast, Kotaku's Jason Schreier suggested that development of Destiny 2 was rebooted almost 16 months before its release date.

Despite the various hiccups it encountered during the development of Destiny, Bungie’s first project after parting ways with Microsoft ultimately became a hit with shooter and sci-fi fans the world over, but it didn’t reach retail without its fair share of criticism. Besides a seemingly fractured and disjointed narrative, what became most apparent, following the new IP’s release, was a noticeable lack of activities at end-game.
Given its nature as a quasi-mmo/shooter hybrid, keeping Guardians’ lust for new content satiated was always going to be a continual process, but Bungie wasn’t always able to keep up with demand. Limited-time events such as The Dawning and Festival of the Lost, while welcome, did little to keep returning players hooked in the droughts bookending expansions like The Taken King and Rise of Iron, but that’s all going to change for Destiny 2, according to Activision.

Check out all the new details for Destiny 2 including a couple new trailers after the jump!
Activision revealed a new trailer for Destiny 2 during Sony's E3 2017 showcase, but the interesting thing about the conference was that there wasn't too many details between each trailer. Instead that content dropped alongside the trailer elsewhere, which seems to be what happened with Destiny 2.

Second the beta for the game will begin July 18th for PS4 players that pre-order the game. Xbox One players that pre-order the game will get access on July 19th. On July 21st, All players can join in via an open beta that will last until July 23rd.

Long before Call of Duty evolved into the biggest name in gaming, Activision’s Fps juggernaut cut its teeth on PC platforms, when earlier installments in the series took place during the throes of World War II. That all changed with the release of Infinity Ward’s groundbreaking Modern Warfare and, with the exception of Treyarch’s World at War, each new entry in the franchise has ventured further and further into the future, introducing drones, robots, and even rocket packs along the way. That all changes with the launch of Call of Duty: WWII.
Headed up by Sledgehammer Games, the creative minds behind Advanced Warfare and the canned Fog of War – the latter was a scrapped, third-person Cod prototype set against the fiery cauldron of the Vietnam War – Call of Duty: WWII promises a breathtaking experience rooted in one of, if not the most monumental conflicts in human history.

Call of Duty: WWII will finally mark the series’ return to its roots later this year, but while we already suspected as such, given both Activision’s previous comments as well as various leaks more or less confirming the move, seeing the iconic brand once again paired with this particular historic period still manages to conjure a sense of mild surprise. Having followed a linear trajectory over the last several years that’s seen its settings and features become increasingly alien and complex, stripping all of that away and making the action more grounded seems, to me at least, to be the biggest step forward the franchise has taken in almost a decade.
Last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the terrific series entry that it was, didn’t quite mesh with fan expectation and, given the huge success of EA’s Battlefield 1, released around the same time, it...

The first of many Destiny 2 trailers have finally arrived! Come inside and find out what all is going on with the Guardians of The Last City!
War is upon us, Guardian! The Cabal have attacked The Last City and the Citadel is a pile of rubble. With morale down, we need a leader to inspire us all! Let Commander Zavala (Lance Reddick) and Cayde-6 (Nathan Fillion) take the stage and rally the troops in the first trailer for Destiny 2!
I absolutely love this trailer and everything it represents. The teaser of Cayde-6 telling his story, at the worst possible time, was entertaining and gave us hope that Bungie was adding more character development. This trailer tells me that Bungie and Activision are fully embracing their underutilized characters. By doing this, it's creating a reason for gamers to throw down money to buy the sequel to the ever-updating game.

Despite going on to become the best-selling game of 2016 in the United States, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare “wasn’t the success” Activision envisioned.
As part of the publisher’s recent earnings call, Activision touched base on the status of its flagship Fps series, noting that the far-future setting of Infinite Warfare “didn’t resonate [with players]” as expected. This year’s Call of Duty will subsequently steer the franchise “back to its roots,” where “traditional combat will once again take center stage” in lieu of space combat and futuristic weaponry.
Per the publisher’s three-tier development cycle, Sledgehammer Games has been elected at the helm for Call of Duty 2017, and early reports claim the Advanced Warfare dev is planning to circle back to the 20th century – World War II, in all likelihood – for the...

Word comes by way of the publisher’s recent earnings call, confirming that Activision pulled in a staggering $6.6 billion in net revenue throughout the course of 2016. That’s up 42 percent over 2015’s take ($4.66 billion), and much of that success can be traced back to Blizzard’s über-popular shooter Overwatch, which now stands as the most successful intellectual property in Activision’s decorated history. As for Destiny, we know that Activision and developer Bungie essentially pushed development by an entire year to reboot the story. The Npd Group has officially named Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare as the best-selling game of 2016 in the United States. Infinity Ward’s far-future shooter placed number one ahead of Battlefield 1 and The Division, while EA’s one-two punch of NBA 2K17 and Madden NFL 17 rounded out the top five on Npd’s round-up.
In tandem with that report, Activision has announced that Call of Duty as a whole became the “top-selling console video game franchise globally for 2016 based on revenue,” thanks to the combined haul of Black Ops III and Infinite Warfare. The publisher didn’t disclose how each title fared, but given the latter reportedly undermined when compared to previous installments, there’s no doubting that Treyarch’s Black Ops III had a big say in making that milestone a reality. Also important to note is the wording of Activision’s press release, as revenue doesn’t always equate to sales.

After several leaks of a new Destiny expansion coming in September, Bungie has finally confirmed it all with a new trailer for Rise of Iron! Take a look!

Since being officially announced last week, the reveal trailer for Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare published on YouTube has attracted a rather substantial amount of negativity judging by the site’s – admittedly rather primitive and abusable – Like/Dislike system.
As of writing, the trailer currently has 1.2 million dislikes from over 14 million views and just 261,000 likes, and while there’s undoubtedly a snowballing effect happening right now with ever-growing number of down votes, there’s clearly a large proportion of series fans out there who aren’t particularly impressed with the focus on a future war setting.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg even responded to the lukewarm reception previously (the dislikes stood at 400,000 at that point), defending the figure to investors by saying Call Of Duty: Black Ops II saw a similar reception, but went on to become the series’ most successful entry ever.

Destiny has broken several records including becoming the most downloaded title on launch for PlayStation.

Activision also noted that it broke the record for most users online at a single time, outpacing that of the original games launch day.

It’s no secret that video game remasters are a dime a dozen in the industry of late, offering publishers a second revenue boon and new-fangled consumers to try out older titles that may have passed them by first time around. For Activision, though, this tactic hasn’t filtered into the publisher’s strategy – at least, not yet.
According to CEO Eric Hirshberg, the company has contemplated Call of Duty re-releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, stating that if demand were to meet the “opportunity cost” we could be revisiting some of the franchise’s more beloved entries. Speaking to Game Informer, here’s what Hirshberg had to say about the hot-button topic:

That should give everyone enough time to prepare for The Force Awakens, which will hit theaters galactically in December.

It’s a whole new world this time around, and the game is a completely immersive experience, as a crowd of fans react as you play (see video above).
The game also has a completely new idea in a “controller,” as the guitar now has two rows of three buttons, and at higher levels has players using chord-like combinations. According to the games notes, this creates a gameplay experience that is both easier and harder.

Every year for what seems to be an eternity by now, Activision and a partnering dev releases a new entry in the Call of Duty franchise and every year, people claim that it will be the last entry in the juggernaut franchise. Granted, sales for the series are beginning to plateau, particularly after the middling Ghosts, but data provided by Npd has revealed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the best-selling video game at retail for the year of 2014.
In an official statement, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg reflected back on the last twelve months, all the while hinting at some the new, “exciting” games to come in 2015.
We’d like to thank our fans for making Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare the #1 top-selling video game in the world, Skylanders Trap Team the top-selling kids game in the world and Destiny the #1 new video game IP of 2014. As much...

You may have heard about a game called Call of Duty? Well that's because it is one of the biggest releases every year, and Advanced Warfare is no different.
According to Activision, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare had the biggest entertainment release of the whole year, in terms of revenue! Activision noted it wasn't just other video games it topped, it was books, music, and even movies included.
Along with yearly win, Activision also touted that the franchise as a whole has topped $10 Billion dollars in a "Life-to-date" momentum. This means that the franchise has made more money than top movie franchises such as The Hunger Games, Iron Man, Transformers, and even The Avengers.
Of course the franchise has also seen more releases up to this point as well.

Activision has announced that "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" has become the biggest entertainment launch of the year, besting all other video games not to mention movies, music and books launched in 2014.
That's not a big surprise, what is interesting though is that the company is still refusing to release hard numbers - specifically how many copies of the game have been sold and how much revenue said game has generated.
Instead, the company's press release has stuck to generalities and boasts of social engagement figures. The game has become the highest-selling digital launch in console history according to Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and internal Activision estimates. It has also seen over 370 million online matches engaged in during its first week of release.

During an Activision Blizzard earnings call this week, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg indicated Bungie has begun work on future expansions for the video game senation "Destiny". These further expansions will likely follow the three previously announced Dlc packs within the season pass - the first of which, 'The Dark Below,' hits December 9th.
Hirshberg also reportedly confirmed that work is already underway on a second game in the series, but there's no word on what it will contain or when it might see the light of day. Activision has previously indicated that there's a "ten year plan" laid out for this franchise.
Nearly two months on from its release, the game has done remarkably well - especially considering reviews were good but relatively subdued for the title which scored a 76/100 on Metacritic. "Destiny" had the most successful new gaming franchise launch of all time and now boasts more than 9.5 million registered users.

Over $500 million worth of copies of Destiny were shipped to stores in anticipation of the game’s release last week. And with today’s newly announced sales figures, it looks like Bungie’s latest franchise is off to an impressive start.
Activision revealed today that Destiny sold-through more than $325 million worldwide in its first five days on sale. The phrase “sold-through” denotes the amount of games actually purchased by consumers rather than simply shipped to stores. That impressive number means the game can hold onto the “most successful new video game franchise” title that Activision boasted last week. A specific...

Over the weekend, the Desitny Beta came to an end, but while it was going on, it seems that's all anyone was talking about. Now we know why, as stats have come out as to how many people logged in to take advantage of Bungies upcoming shooter Mmo for the current generation platforms. Here's a hint, it was a Lot of people.
In short, the Destiny beta was a huge hit, providing the largest number of users on a beta so far during this generation. That's a pretty good indication of how many people want this game and will likely pick it up upon release. Our own team here at Cinelinx (myself included) got in on the fun during the beta and came away largely impressed.

Neversoft is officially nevermore, as the remaining members of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater developer have now fully merged with developer Infinity Ward in order to assist on current and future projects.
To give the developer the proper anarchic closure it needed, the team at Neversoft fired flaming arrows into the its iconic skewered eye logo. Neversoft co-founder Joel Jewett also gave each employee a branded knife as a farewell gift, which is, if nothing else, fitting due to the history of the company and Jewett’s personality.
News of the merger between the two developers was originally announced back in May by Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg. At the time, Hirshberg said that the merger would lead to a “super-studio” within the popular publisher.

Following the news that Call of Duty was shifting to a three year development model with three teams working on titles, Activision has revealed that this year’s Sledgehammer developed entry will be designed with the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in mind.
In an interview with IGN, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg elaborated on this agenda by stating

While the Sledgehammer Games developed Call of Duty will be prioritized for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, Activision still plans on releasing the game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

It’s been confirmed that those who purchase the PlayStation 3 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will be able to upgrade to the next-generation PS4 version for a mere ten dollar fee.
The aforementioned offer, which makes a lot of financial sense, will only be available for a limited time, and will not be restricted to North America. In fact, the requested price point is similar across the board, with overseas regions being asked to pay €10 or £10 to upgrade.
Adding extra incentive for gamers to support this promotion is the fact that Activision will transfer players’ Call of Duty: Ghosts stats from one console to the other. As such, folks won’t have to worry about losing their great kill/death ratios.
Electronic Arts, Activision, Warner Bros. and Ubisoft are all expected to offer similar promotions across the board, with games like Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs having been mentioned.

Few gaming franchises ape Hollywood conventions in the manner of Call of Duty. The blockbuster action coupled with the high-end production value has ensured that Activision’s first-person shooter has remained in vogue since the genre-defining Modern Warfare in 2007.
