We’ve known for a year that there would be a fifth season of “Arrested Development” but didn’t have any more details till now. We can confirm that the entire main cast — Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat — will return for season 5, which will start streaming on Netflix on May 29. That is just two days before the end of the eligibility period for 2018 Emmy Awards consideration.
“Arrested Development” aired on Fox network for three seasons (2003-2006), winning six Emmys including Best Comedy Series in 2004 and Best Comedy Writing in 2004 and 2005. The show was cancelled due to low ratings, but it had developed such a devoted fan base that Netflix revived the show for a fourth season in 2013.
