After revealing the first five of the Top 24 on "American Idol" Wednesday night, we get the rest on Thursday night (Feb. 24):
Naima Adedapo, Haley Reinhart, Clint Jun Gamboa, Paul McDonald, Ashthon Jones, Karen Rodriguez, Robbie Rosen, Julie Zorrilla, Tim Halperin, Scotty McCreery, Tatynisa Wilson, Jovany Barreto, Lauren Turner, Rachel Zevita, Kendra Chantelle, Jordan Dorsey, Lauren Alaina, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Pia Toscano, James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Thia Megia and Brett Loewenstern.
But how did we get there?
Like a true professional, J.Lo pulls it together from last night's meltdown to tell MySpace Karen Rodriguez her fate. Karen isn't from any place in the world, just Fyi. She's a computer being from the land of MySpace. At her last performance, Karen does a Selena song in her beautiful alto voice and J.Lo mouths the words, it's a Very Special Moment and Karen gets through.
Now up is Robbie Rosen,...

American Idol will name its season 10 semifinalists this week, which means it could be our last opportunity to wave a fan flag for under-the-radar contestants like the White House Intern or the hot, bearded guy who sang “Maggie May” in Nashville. Yeah, I know, a number of dark-sided sites have posted spoilers about the top 24, but I like to approach Idol with eyes as innocent as little Jacee Badeaux (who, incidentally, doesn’t make the Idol Leaderboard cut today). Falling off the countdown from last week are Adrienne Beasley, Paris Tassin, Rob Bolin, Sarah Ames, and Janelle Arthur (all booted...

Are you ready, American Idol fans? Here comes Jacob Lusk.
The young Los Angeles native, who works as a spa concierge, led his group on a rendition of "Get Ready" that prompted Steven Tyler to gush: "I've been waiting all day for this... every little bit of it was beautiful."
Lusk, Da'Quela Payne, Matthew Nuss and Naima Adedapo all moved on to the next round. Watch them in action now:
Jacob Lusk and Group - Get Ready
Other highlights from group night included:
Keonna Evans, Jalen Harris, Sarina-Joi Crowe, Felix Ramsey and Deandre Brackensick advancing for their take on Queen's "Somebody to Love." Jacee Badeaux getting booted from one group in the middle of the night, only to then latch on to another, forget his lyrics and sing about hoping to not go home. He got the sympathy vote and stuck around. Scotty McCreery tearfully apologizing for his treatment of Badeaux.

Wednesday night (February 16) smelled like sleep deprivation, bad craft service and embarrassing levels of desperation. It's not Vma week here at MTV (kidding), so it must mean one thing: Hollywood Group Number Night on "American Idol"!
In the past, we've had havoc-wreakers like the Brittenum Brothers, Tatiana del Toro, Julia DeMato and Antonella Barba. Who will step up and be this season's resident diva?
As it turns out, a bunch of people!
Thanks to producers insisting that each group feature singers from both days of the first Hollywood round (thus thwarting savvy hopefuls who secretly created groups and rehearsed on their day off), contestants' true colors shone through immediately.
The first diva showdown came during the initial group number scramble. In one corner, we had "professional choreographer" Tiffany "Star Tatas" Rios, and in the other we had Scotty "I Only Know One Song" McCreery. No shocker that nobody wanted to be in Tiffany's group.

American Idol's dreaded two-hour "group night" has to be got through, both by the contestants - 168, at the start of the show - and the audience. Watching the singers break down into competing groups (breaking down emotionally, too) is like watching a Discovery nature documentary about the feeding and migratory habits of some melodic but sleep-deprived species. Consider the tribulations of poor Jacee Badeaux, 15. He was thrown out of one group and doomed to wander off in shame, presumably because he was considered too ungainly and unsophisticated to do any dance moves. He was drafted into Brett Loewenstern's group...

There’s an evil science behind the annual rite of passage known as the “group-performance round” of Hollywood Week on American Idol: Take a hundred or more emotionally fragile, sleep-deprived singers, force them to splinter off into small groups to learn sometimes unfamiliar songs under intense deadline pressure, and watch as fascinatingly awful things begin to happen.
That was certainly the case tonight.
The once charming Jordan Dorsey hallucinated that he was auditioning for the role of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. Cherubic 15-year-old Jacee Badeaux (pictured, bottom left) found himself getting the Idol equivalent of an atomic wedgie.

Group Day on "American Idol" this season wilts it down 100 as some notable contestants were sent home. Paris Tassin, who became an early favorite with her soulful voice and her touching story about her hearing impaired daughter, was among the eliminated ones.
Taking the same route as Paris was Rob Bolin whose ex lover Chelsee Oaks passed this stage along with Jacqueline Dunford. And then there was Tiffany Rios who shocked the judges during her audition with the star bras. She was sent home together with duet partner Jessica Yantz.
Meanwhile, Jacee Badeaux almost did not make it when he struggled on the song "Mercy". But then his group explained that he was kicked out of the old one at the last minute and that he did not know the song. Jacee and his group, Brett Loewenstern, Denise Jackson, Stevie Cain and Natalie Hanson, all made it through.

After eliminating roughly half of the 327 contestants the first two days of Hollywood Week, "American Idol" is back with the dreaded Group Day, which is one of our favorite parts of the entire show. There are always so many tears and meltdowns, but there are also some amazing performances that come out of it -- remember Danny Gokey and Jamar Rogers group from two years ago? I still remember how good they were.
Also - I realize how stupid it is to make solo artists perform in groups, but I don't care. Group Day is awesome.
Since there were two days of first-round eliminations, a bunch of day one kids had already formed groups and were thinking they were ahead of the game. But then producer Ken Warwick drops the bomb that the groups have to include a mixture of both days' contestants, because that's only fair for the day two kids.

Group night on "American Idol" is notoriously brutal. It's full of attitude, fighting, ragged nerves and exhaustion. And that's just from the audience at home watching the ridiculous diva behavior onscreen.
But after pulling an all-nighter, a number of this year's picks to click, including teens Jacee Badeaux and Lauren Alaina, as well Chris Medina, James Durbin, Brett Loewenstern and Chelsee Oaks, survived to sing another day, while some early favorites went down in flames, unable to handle the pressure.
On Wednesday night's (February 16) show, producers figured they'd up the ante this year on the contestants by telling them, after they'd already formed their groups, that they must be comprised of a mix of singers...

Hollywood Round continues on American Idol this week, which means there’ll be plenty of tears, infighting, and forgotten lyrics — hopefully mixed in with at least a couple of star-making performances. And as if the season 10 hopefuls don’t already have enough to stress about, I thought we ought to ratchet up the pressure by counting down the top 20 singers based on talent and buzz from the previous eight episodes. Falling off the TVLine.com Idol Leaderboard from last week are

"This epic journey," as host Ryan Seacrest called American Idol's Hollywood rounds, began Thursday with 324 contestants - twice the amount than in previous seasons. Ryan always seems happy to move closer to the action after all those weeks lurking outside the closed doors of hotel conference rooms. "Nobody gets hurt," Steven Tyler said to the other judges at the start of the hour. But of course they do. Luckily, Chris Medina, whose brain-damaged fiancée provided a seriously moving moment in the auditions, made it to the next round. So did Paris Tassin, whose young daughter suffers from hearing loss,...

The American Idol dreams of numerous contestants were crushed last night, as the show settled in Hollywood and got began whittling down its 327 golden ticket recipients.
Brett Loewenstern was not among the hopefuls sent back home, however. The 16-year old admitted to "shaking in his pants" prior to belting out a version of "Let It Be" that earned him yet another audition. Said the Florida native soon after advancing:
"I would like to say to the people that tried to bring me down: Bully me, backstab me, whatever. No negativity anymore. I'm done with being a victim."

Among others who will live to sing another day are Rachel Zevita, Thia Megia, Paris Tassin, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Chris Medina, Jackie Wilson, Jerome Bell, Julie Zorrilla, Emily Anne Reed, Stefano Langone, Molly DeWolf, Scotty McCreery, Mark Gutierrez and Aaron Gutierrez.

Thursday night (February 10) kicked off Hollywood Week on "American Idol," where water bottles are liberally used as microphones, pajamas are considered appropriate TV attire and the judges can cut all the sad sacks with sob stories who they felt guilted into advancing the first time.
In other words, this is my now.
Seacrest knows what's up. In the intro, he wistfully intoned, "Countless dreams will be tested as we start this epic journey." I salivated with anticipation. (I also shuddered when I tried to imagine my dreams being tested. Please don't test that one dream where I'm a house cat and I get to sleep and snuggle 23 hours a day, Seacrest. It's my favorite ever! Purrrr.)
Unfortunately, the first hour of Hollywood Week did not live up to the hype that Seacrest enjoys perpetuating.
Before we get to the juicy drama-producing group numbers, we have to endure an obvious sudden death round.

One of the main mysteries of Lost centered around a set of inscrutable numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42), and now American Idol has its own enigmatic digits: 327, 168, 18, 5, and 0. Indeed, try as I might, I’m having a hard time making sense of the mathematical breakdown of tonight’s episode — which followed this season’s wannabe Carrie Underwoods and Kris Allens through the first round of Hollywood Week. Let’s review:

Couples whom viewers have seen in this season of "American Idol" go through different routes after the first Hollywood week. Jacqueline Dunford and Nick Fink, the sugary pair who auditioned together in Arizona, had to be separated from each other as she went through and he failed to proceed.
Fink, who came up first, sang Paolo Nutini's "New Shoes" while Dunford belted out Sam Cooke's "Bring It on Home to Me". His voice was rather weaker than the one in the audition, while she showed strong performance. They held hands as the judges tried to divide them into two lines.
To Fink's disappointment, his girlfriend went to the next round while he was sent home. He didn't take the news so well, grabbing the mic to plead the judges. "I wanted to continue with his baby. I'm so happy for her, but I just wish you guys would let me sing,...

Randy kicks off "American Idol's" Hollywood week by trying to convince us this is the most talent they've ever seen. Hmm. Ryan tells us that double the number of contestants made it to Hollywood as usually do. Wow, so what is that ... like 300? Turns out it's 327, so we did pretty well at the jelly bean jar "Idol" game.
J.Lo and her jaunty ponytail swagger into the auditorium. She's so cute. Her being on this show has really brought her up in my estimation. They kick things off with the line-up round, where 10 Idols come out, sing and are turned away or advanced on right on the spot. This, to me, has always been the scariest time of the competition. To come all that way and then be sent home 5 minutes in (more or less)? So disappointing, right?
Group 1 includes Brett Loewenstern, who gets a montage about his high school torture.

But by night's end, half of them were headed home as the biggest group to ever make it to Hollywood was cut down in a hurry.
