Last Sunday, former NFL player Cam Newton was involved in an altercation with three other people at a youth football game.
The 30-second video depicted Newton being cornered by three men near the top of a staircase. A flurry of shoving, grabbing and punching pushes the group toward a fence. The brawl was short, as a police officer and security broke up the fight after a few seconds. It appears that Newton is fighting off the three people on him, and it appears that he did not throw any punches.
The fight occurred at the We Ball Sports x DynastyU 7v7 tournament at B.E.S.T. Academy in Atlanta. Newton runs an organization called C1N, which specializes in teaching football to youths and giving them opportunities to play.
Newton’s website describes the mission of the organization to help the youth achieve their goals on and off the field.

One-time NFL Mvp Cam Newton was involved in a huge brawl at a 7-on-7 football event this weekend, resulting in a viral video of the melee.
The former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback, who in his playing days was listed at 6’5″ and 245 pounds, appeared to engage in a battle with several men. The combatants were reported to be from Top Shelf Performance, who had teams playing in the first “We Ball Sports” 7v7 tournament in Atlanta.
Newton’s “C1N” 7v7 team was also participating in the event.
The reports on the fight did not indicate what started things, but it eventually spilled out of a pop-up tent onto a nearby area bordered by a fence. A security officer finally managed to disperse the sides. There were no reports of serious injuries or arrests.
Newton, age 34, last played in the NFL in 2021.

To borrow a rhetorical device from ESPN’s great sports documentary series 30 for 30: What if I told you there exists the most dramatic college football team of all time?
Said football team was filled with enough off-the-wall stories and colorful characters to make any would-be documentarian salivate. These characters and their stories include: a megalomaniacal head coach who got fired from his first NFL job mid-season for feeling up an undergrad at a steakhouse named after him, a star defensive end who was arrested for a DUI just days before the NCAA Southeastern Conference Championship game, and a tight end who committed literal murder.
That team is real. It was the 2005-2010 University of Florida Gators. Now, what if I told you there is a just-released docuseries about said team … that completely omits all of the dramatic information cited above and more? That docuseries is also real.

Donald De La Haye, aka Deestroying, started making YouTube videos well before earning a football scholarship as a kicker at the University of Central Florida. His path took a number of surprise turns before he found himself sharing a stage with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell — not as a draft pick but as a partner with the league as it enters new digital territory.
As Deestroying’s videos started gaining traction and generating income in the 2010s, the era just before “name, image and likeness” (Nil) rules changed the game for college athletes, NCAA officials gave him a choice. “They told me, ‘Hey, you can’t make money from your content while you’re a college athlete. You either need to delete your channel and donate the money back, or you’ll forfeit your eligibility. Or, just keep doing what you’re doing and you can no longer be a college football player,...

Sean "Diddy" Combs is many things: record label executive and entrepreneur, Grammy Award-winning artist and dance extraordinaire. We can add actor to that list too; he had movie roles, including in "Carlito's Way: Rise to Power" and the 2008 adaptation of "A Raisin in the Sun." But his breakout performance could've came in Oliver Stone's 1999 sports drama "Any Given Sunday."
In the movie, Al Pacino stars as Tony D'Amato, the head coach of a fictional professional football team who struggles to get his squad to the playoffs. One of his many challenges lies at the quarterback position. After his starting and backup QBs suffer injuries during the same game late in the season, Coach D'Amato must call on his third-string, a young journeyman named Willie Beaman (Jamie Foxx). Vaccination Status Denied As Factor In NFL Cuts, As Jacksonville Jaguars Walk Back Coach’s Statement
Update: The Jacksonville Jaguars have walked back a controversial statement by head coach Urban Meyer, who said that vaccine status was a “decision-maker” in the makeup of his team’s final roster.
Meyer cited the risks associated with unvaccinated players under the NFL’s Covid-19 protocols.
“Everyone was considered,” Meyer said on Tuesday via ESPN. “That was part of the [considerations such as] production, let’s start talking about this, and also is he vaccinated or not? Can I say that that was a decision-maker? It was certainly in consideration.”
The NFL Players Association said it has launched an investigation into Meyer after the remarks.
The Jaguars team issued a statement Wednesday that it claimed “clarified” the Meyer remarks, saying no player was cut based on his status.
“Availability is one of the many factors taken into consideration when making roster decisions. We have vaccinated and unvaccinated players on our roster, and no...

Live from Miami in front of a masked and social distanced crowd, NBC Nightly News’ Decision 2020 Town Hall with Biden is the most watched political event in the arena format this campaign, according to Nielsen.
Simulcast across NBC, MSNBC and CNBC and hosted by Lester Holt, the one-hour town call averaged 6.7 million viewers. That’s a big reach that resulted in a 68% leap over the viewership for Trump’s September 15 town hall on ABC. Up against the NFL on CBS and ESPN, plus Dancing With The Stars on ABC, Biden’s primetime stint on the Comcast-owned outlets was a 97% improvement over the viewership for the ex-vp’s CNN town hall on September 17.

CBS’ airing of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 26-10 victory over the New England Patriots (which was delayed a day after Patriots quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for Covid-19) dominated the primetime rankings, bringing in 14.6 million viewers and a 4.0 rating among adults 18-49.

“Dancing With the Stars” tripped up a little in routine on Monday night, as a rescheduled NFL game dominated the ratings for CBS.
The ABC dance show ticked down to a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 and just over 6 million total viewers. That represents an 18% dip from last week in the former metric, and a season low in both overall. Despite its weaker lead-in, Luke Wilson unscripted series “Emergency Call” managed to retain 100% of its premiere rating, delivering a 0.6 and 3.5 million viewers.
The mouth-watering NFL clash between the New England and the Kansas City Chiefs was supposed to take place on Sunday, but the game was postponed to last night due to New England quarterback Cam Newton testing positive for Covid-19. An averaged of around 12.5 million viewers tuned in to the game on CBS, and a 3.5 averaged ratings was easily enough to carry the night for the network. “Big Brother” scored...

NFL football works on Monday nights — who knew? (ESPN knows.) CBS dominated primetime last night with the Kansas City Chiefs victory over the New England Patriots, a game that was postponed from Sunday due to positive Covid-19 tests on both teams. Though the Monday night football (not to be confused with “Monday Night Football”) game was not a particularly tight one and lacked Patriots star quarterback Cam Newton (who tested positive for Covid), it worked to the detriment of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” which shed two-tenths of a Nielsen point from last week’s rating. Due to the nature of live coast-to-coast television, the below Nielsen data for CBS should be considered subject to particularly heavy adjustment in final figures. Also Read: Ratings: NFL Football Clobbers NBA Finals on Sports-Heavy Sunday CBS was first in ratings with a 2.6 rating/14 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total...

The NFL has postponed another game over positive Covid-19 tests, the league announced Saturday.
The New England Patriots-Kansas City Chiefs game will be rescheduled from Sunday to “Monday or Tuesday” after positive test results came back from both teams, the league said in a statement. It follows the decision to reschedule another game this week due to the growing outbreak among Tennessee Titans players.
“In consultation with infectious disease experts, both clubs are working closely with the NFL and the Nflpa to evaluate multiple close contacts, perform additional testing and monitor developments,” the league’s statement said. “All decisions will be made with the health and safety of players, team and gameday personnel as our primary consideration.”

Updated, 10:24 Pm: Despite going virtual across the globe, the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards went off without a significant technical glitch Sunday night. After setting up over 100 cameras in nominees’ homes to cover 23 categories, the final numbers are in for the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted show, and they remain a record low for the small screen’s biggest night.
With 6.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 in time adjusted results, the 8-11:06 Pm Et show managed to prove host Kimmel right and beat last year’s previous low.

The National Football League’s Week 2 of its schedule again saw teams staying off the field when the national anthem was played, continuing the pattern seen in last week’s openers. However, several teams appeared to be surprised and caught on the field when the song unexpectedly started playing.
The New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins all were out of sight during the Star-Spangled Banner. The San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions were present during the song, with some players taking a knee or raising a fist.
Some of the team plans seemed more haphazard than Week One’s careful coordination. The Tennessee Titans were in the middle of pre-game warmups when the song started, causing the team to rush to the sidelines.

Update: In the later NFL games, veteran New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who created a storm of controversy by saying he would not kneel because he didn’t want to disrespect the flag or military, stood during the national anthem. But he wore a t-shirt during warmups that said “Say Her Name,” a reference to the police shooting of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Ky.
In Maryland, the Philadelphia Eagles remained in the locker room during the national anthem, while the Washington Football Team stood on its sideline.
In Foxborough, Mass., all of the New England Patriots stood for the anthem, while their opponents, the Miami Dolphins, remained in the locker room. New England quarterback Cam Newton wore cleats saying “7 Shots” and “No Justice No Peace.”

In fact, Edelman has also shared this practice video on his Instagram Story, including a side-eye and quiet emojis. Warning: There is an obscenity heard in the background of the video. While 2020 has been a year to forget for just about everybody else, Patrick Mahomes begs to differ. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback won the Super Bowl in February, and today he signed the richest contract in NFL history.
The 24-year-old Texas Tech alum inked a 10-year extension worth $503 million — with $477 million guaranteed — that will keep him with the Afc club until 2032. The deal negotiated by uber-agent Leigh Steinberg, which includes a no-trade clause, eclipses the 12-year, $426.5 million contact Angels outfielder Mike Trout signed last year as the biggest ever in American team sports.

In the latest twist in the data hack involving top entertainment law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, the party purportedly responsible for the hack, which calls itself REvil, has threatened to auction off a vast amount of sensitive documents from some of the firm’s top clients. It laid out a schedule beginning on July 1, with docs from Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Lebron James, followed two days later by Bad Boy Records, MTV and Universal, and then an unspecified one on July 5.
The first three bids start at $600,000; Bad Boy is $750,000 and the latter two $1 million.

If you’re a Carolina Panthers fan you might think that Cam Newton is the best thing to hit the team in a long time, but if you’re a fan of any other NFL team you might be able to respect Newton for his ability but constantly wonder just which Cam is going to show up in each game, the professional quarterback or the whiner that seems to think it’s okay to pout on the sidelines.
