Paula Aranda is an American television producer and executive.
Paula is a dual Spanish and American citizen, who grew up speaking both Spanish and English in her childhood household in Madrid, Spain. She is a native speaker in Spanish and English, fluent in French, and conversational in Italian. She attended the American School of Madrid for grade school and high school, and moved to the United States at age 18 when she was admitted to the Huntsman Program in international studies and business at the University of Pennsylvania, a joint degree program through the Wharton School of Business and the School of Arts and Sciences. During her college career and time living in the United States, Paula discovered her passion for American television. In 2008, she transferred into the degree program at the Annenberg School for Communications and the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with honors in 2010.
Paula's first job in entertainment was an internship in development at Nickelodeon in the summer of 2008, where she helped conduct focus group research with Spanish and English speaking children in the New York City area for the shows Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go.
The following summer and school year, Paula did internships in Programming and Development at Vh1, in New York City. Upon graduating from college in 2010, Paula accepted a full-time position in Production and Development at Vh1 in Santa Monica, California, under the leadership of Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes and Kristen Kelly - the team of executives responsible for Vh1's string of successful reality television shows including The Surreal Life, Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, and I Love Money.
Paula works as an executive producer on some of Vh1s most recognizable and successful franchises, including Basketball Wives (Vh1's longest running franchise on-air) and Family Therapy with Dr. Jenn. Paula is a Manager of Production and Development at Vh1, splitting her time between overseeing the production of current on-air television, and developing new shows in the alternative and reality television space.
