MGM+ has announced the acquisition of the two-part docuseries “In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon, debuting on the streamer on March 17 and March 24 at 9 p.m. Edt/Pdt. It focuses on the career of musician Paul Simon.
Per the docuseries’ description, “In Restless Dreams” “juxtaposes Simon’s process of making a new album during the Covid-19 pandemic against archival material tracing Simon’s career and creative journey, including revelatory, previously unseen footage from such historic moments as the recording of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ and ‘Graceland,’ Simon & Garfunkel’s unforgettable reunion concert in Central Park, and, 10 years later, Simon’s solo concert there, where he performed before 750,000 people.”
Making appearances in the docuseries are “Saturday Night Live” creator and producer Lorne Michaels, Simon’s wife and singer Edie Brickwell and composer Wynton Marsalis.
Alex Gibney (“The Inventor”) directs and produces, with Jigsaw, Closer Media and Anonymous Content jointly producing.

Nonprofit media company Shine Global celebrated its second annual Children’s Resilience in Film Awards at Paramount Studios on Tuesday night. Recognizing films and filmmakers around the world that highlight the resilience and strength of children in the face of adversities such as poverty, violence, illness and discrimination, the awards honored documentary Name Me Lawand with the event’s grand prize of $15,000.

Blumhouse and the Epix premium cable outlet have worked together to send multiple genre films out into the world recently. A House on the Bayou, American Refugee, Torn Hearts, Unhuman, The Deep House. Now it has been announced that Blumhouse and Epix are teaming up for a five-part documentary series called Blumhouse’s Compendium of Horror, which will premiere on Epix on Sunday, October 2 at 10 p.m. Edt/Pdt.

Blumhouse’s Compendium of Horror revisits the shocks and scares from our favorite iconic cinematic horror moments from the 1930s until today featuring insights from some of the best and most influential filmmakers, producers, and actors working in the genre, as well as experts and historians.
The series, narrated by Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), reflects how quintessential horror films have revealed and reflected the real-life scares of the world to the audience, uniting us with shared understanding, catharsis, and entertainment.

Fall River, a four-part docuseries about a string of murders in Fall River, Massachusetts, has been ordered to series by Epix.
The cable network will launch the series, which comes from Blumhouse Television, on May 16.
It comes a year after the network revealed that the project was in development.
Fall River tells the story of the murder of three women were killed in 1979 – almost 90 years after infamous, accused murderer Lizzie Borden’s notorious acquittal – with the police alleging alleged a satanic cult was practicing human sacrifice. The cult leader, a man named Carl Drew, was captured and sent to prison for life without parole.
Twenty years after the trial, the lead investigator Paul Carey became so haunted by inconsistencies in the stories that he re-investigated his own case after he retired. Evidence surfaced that brought the entire story into question. Now through exclusive interviews, including intimate conversations with Drew, new witnesses and illuminating evidence,...
