"Why do you live like this? The windows, the lights, the traps..." Signature Entertainment from the UK has unveiled a new UK trailer for an indie living-in-seclusion horror-thriller titled Rose: A Love Story, which initially premiered at last year's London Film Festival. The film, which also goes under the simple title Rose, marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jennifer Sheridan. Gripped by a violent, terrifying illness, Rose lives in seclusion with her husband, but the arrival of a stranger shatters the fragile refuge they have built. The film stars Sophie Rundle as Rose, along with Matt Stokoe, Nathan McMullen, and Olive Gray. This seems very eerie and mysterious, and I'm intrigued to find out more about what's going on with them in the woods. Have a look. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Jennifer Sheridan's Rose: A Love Story, from Digital Spy: Rundle stars as the eponymous Rose...

Misfits, This Is England and Pride star Joseph Gilgun will play comedy vampire Cassidy in AMC’s Preacher adaptation…
Here’s an exciting one – Joseph Gilgun has signed up for a role in the pilot episode of AMC’s Preacher adaptation. We’d wager you’re familiar with him already – either through his performance as multiple versions of Rudy in Misfits, as Mike in the brilliantly funny Pride or Woody in This Is England and its TV sequel.
He will play a vampire named Cassidy in the AMC pilot, which is helmed by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin. If you’re unfamiliar with the comic – which focuses on a Preacher’s quest to literally find God and demand some answers - here’s the official description of Gilgun’s character…

Peter Capaldi's first Christmas special in the Doctor Who lead role came laden with tangerines. But was it any good?
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
Last Christmas
"A skeleton man, and a girl in her nightie"
It's one heck of a gamble to go for an hour long Doctor Who Christmas special, where all but a few minutes at the end turn out to be a dream. Yet that's just what Steven Moffat pulled off with his far improved Yuletide episode, Last Christmas.
As he confirmed at the Q&A after the press screening, everything you see in the episode, from the first scene onwards, is strictly a dream, up until the finale, and the placing of Last Christmas' final tangerine. A poignant tangerine, that also seems to suggest that Santa is real. That's a mystery solved, then.

Lots of Doctor Who Christmas pics and discussion here, as well as a promising hint for series 9…
Christmas - a time for presents, and exchanging kisses, and for singing Christmas songs. A time for attempting to nick pigs in blankets from your loved ones. And, according to Peter Capaldi, a time for “terrifying” and “nightmarish” television.
Indeed, that’s how he described the Moffat-penned Doctor Who seasonal special when chatting to Den Of Geek on his press tour. Here’s the full quote:
"It's a rather clever Christmas episode as it's festive and jolly but also terrifying. While Santa being on Clara's roof should be an excuse for happiness, it's actually a nightmarish development, and only the Doctor knows why."
Additionally, Capaldi added that this Santa is the reak deal, "he's not a robot or an alien - he's the real, genuine Santa Claus."

With exactly one month to go until the Doctor’s tenth (can you Adam and Eve it?!) annual festive adventure, the BBC has set tongues wagging today by revealing its intriguing title, and we’ve even been treated to a sparkling new poster image – above – too!
We now know that the Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald will return to our screens in Last Christmas, written by Steven Moffat and directed by Paul Wilmshurst, which is set to air in the show’s traditional Christmas Day time slot as the centrepiece of BBC One’s yuletide festivities.
Confirmed guest stars for the special include Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz’s very own Nick Frost, who was introduced in the closing credits of the Series 8 finale, Death in Heaven, as Father Christmas (no, seriously), as well as Dan Starkey and Nathan McMullen, who will seemingly be playing two of Santa’s devoted elves,...

I’m not really a fan of Doctor Who, but I always tune in for the annual Christmas special. The brief teaser – which aired after the dramatic series eight finale – was released online. The short clip features no sign of companion Jenna Coleman, last seen bidding farewell to the Doctor, although she is confirmed to appear in the festive special. Instead, this first footage shows Peter Capaldi who asks, “It’s Christmas at the North Pole. Who are you going to call?” The Doctor Who Christmas Special is written by Steven Moffat and directed by Paul Wilmshurst and will also star Natalie Gumede, Michael Troughton, Faye Marsay and Nathan McMullen.

Christmas is supposed to be a time of peace on earth and goodwill to all men. Unless you're a certain Tardis-dwelling Time Lord, in which case the forthcoming festive season is going to be a time of terrifying, slavering beasties. It’s almost the holiday season, and you know what that means -- a new "Doctor Who" Christmas special. Last year's special introduced viewers to the twelfth doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, so who knows what gift the BBC and wrier Stephen Moffat ("Sherlock") will be giving to fans. A new trailer shows the Doctor and Clara (Jenna Coleman) spending Christmas in the North Pole where they appear to run into a nasty, "Alien"-like creature and Santa Claus himself, played by "The World's End" and "Shaun of the Dead" Nick Frost. Watch it here: Other guest stars include Michael Troughton (the real-life son of the Second Doctor Patrick Troughton), Natalie Gumede ("Strictly Come Dancing"), Faye Marsay ("Pride"), and Nathan McMullen ("Misfits"). Nick Frost is one of three guest stars that will be appearing in the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special. Frost is best known for his work with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright on films such as Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. The guy is a very funny and talented individual, and it's going to be so cool to see him enter the world of Doctor Who. How’s this for a slice of fried gold? The BBC announced today that actor Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, The World’s End) will guest star in this year’s special Christmas episode of Doctor Who, the production of which has now begun.
“I’m so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas special, I’m such a fan of the show,” Frost said in a statement. “The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream ‘No spoilers!’ Every day on set I...

Nick Frost, Michael Troughton and Nathan McMullen are all joining this year's Doctor Who Christmas special.
We're not even at the half-way stage of Doctor Who series 8 yet, but already, we're looking ahead to the Christmas special. It's been filming over the past couple of weeks, albeit mainly behind closed doors. As such, details of the guest stars this year has been thin on the ground.
Until now, at least.
Three names have now been confirmed. Firstly, there's Nick Frost, who needs little introduction. Nor, to fans of Misfits, will Nathan McMullen. And in a lovely touch, Michael Troughton, the son of second Doctor Patrick Troughton, has also been added to the cast. Troughton's book on his father's life is well worth picking up.
Steven Moffat has penned the script for this one. It will screen, as you might have guessed, on December 25th. Here's the picture that the BBC Tweeted,...

The Tunnel: 9pm, Sky Atlantic
This British/French remake of Danish drama The Bridge had a strong debut last week. Episode two sees TV's newest crime-solving duo Elise (Clémence Poésy) and Karl (Stephen Dillane) begin to realise that they are perhaps dealing with a criminal mastermind.
The investigation into the murder of Welsh prostitute Gemma Kirwan and French politician Marie Villeneuve sees Karl find himself in the grubbiest parts of Folkestone.
Meanwhile, as Elise heads across the channel to Boulogne, her shrewd investigative skills lead her to a grisly discovery in an abandoned slaughterhouse. The Tunnel is definitely not for the faint-hearted but it does make for some intense viewing.
Poirot: The Big Four: 8pm, ITV
Everyone's favourite detective returns to our screens in The Big Four. We join David Suchet's Poirot in his last quartet of mysteries.

Tomorrow sees the return of dark comedy Misfits, the fifth – and final – series of the Howard Overman-created show.
Following a group of young offenders sentenced to work community service before a freak electrical storm endows them all with superpowers, season five transports us one year on from the event and focuses on how various characters are dealing with their new lives.
Throughout the series’ run, we’ve experienced moments of ingenious comedy interspersed with gruesome deaths, more probation workers than we can count and a total cast upheaval.
The original cast – Antonia Thomas, Iwan Rheon, Lauren Socha, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Robert Sheehan as Alisha Daniels, Simon Bellamy, Kelly Bailey, Curtis Donovan, and Nathan Young, respectively, are all gone.
In their place are Joseph Gilgun as Rudy Wade along with Karla Crome, Nathan McMullen, Matt Stokoe and Natasha O’Keeffe as Jess, Finn, Alex and Abbey Smith.

Misfits is back - and for the final time!
E4's brilliant, bonkers, bawdy comedy-drama returns to the channel tomorrow night for one final six-part run. Expect scouts, Satanists, Alex (finally) sporting an orange jumpsuit and some proper A-grade super-powered vigilantes.
Digital Spy joined series stars Karla Crome (Jess), Nathan McMullen (Finn) and Matt Stokoe (Alex) to mark the show's passing and talked fans, bums, fireworks and how Misfits draws to a close...
Misfits series four was a trial by fire...
Matt: "It was a trial by fire last year, 'cos not everybody's gonna like you. If people tune into a programme and they've been loyal to it for a few years because they really like certain characters, when those characters leave and new ones come in, of course it's going to be a bit of an uphill struggle to win people round - that's only natural.
"That's quite flattering...

Warning: if you want to go in to Misfits series 5 knowing absolutely nothing, don't read ahead...
Anticipation for the last ever series of E4’s Misfits is pretty high and, before the premiere this week, we were lucky enough to visit the set just after filming for series five had wrapped up for good. After a quick walk around the set, we picked the brains of Joseph Gilgun (Rudy), Karla Crome (Jess), Nathan McMullen (Finn), Matt Stokoe (Alex) and Natasha O’Keeffe (Abbey) – and they had some interesting titbits about what we can expect from upcoming episodes. Who will die? Will we be seeing any returning cast members? And will we ever find out what’s going on with Abbey?

Interview Caroline Preece 22 Oct 2013 - 07:00
Caroline chatted to Joseph Gilgun and Nathan McMullen about the end of Misfits on the set of series five...
Spoiler warning: this interview contains plot details for Misfits series 5.
The last to join the cast back in the third series, Joseph Gilgun is not the longest-serving misfit, but he hasn’t been lonely. The show, undoubtedly keen to replicate Nathan and Simon’s popular ‘bromance’, gave Rudy a friend to torment, as Nathan McMullen’s Finn landed in the community centre a whole year later. We spoke to Gilgun and McMullen about what we can expect from their characters in the finale season, possible returning characters and how it all ends...

The award-winning drama Misfits returns for the fifth and final time at 10pm on Wednesday 23rd October.
The series marks the first anniversary of the storm, and the gang have to up their game if they're going to tackle some real-life, A-grade, superpowered vigilantes.
The final series sees the return of:
Karla Crome as Jess. Having had her heart broken by Alex ‘the handsome barman’ in Series 4, Jess is now more determined than ever that she won’t let her vulnerability show. But despite her cool exterior, an unlikely liaison is on the horizon that takes her completely by surprise.
Joseph Gilgun as Rudy. In the final series of Misfits, Rudy 2 discovers a support group for people with super powers, and once there he is encouraged by fellow attendees to stop taking flak from Rudy 1 and stand on his own two feet. When Rudy 2 confronts his other half about wanting to become his own person,...

Filming is about to start on the 5th and final series of E4's award-winning series Misfits.
The cast of series 4, Rudy (Joseph Gilgun), Jess (Karla Crome), Finn (Nathan McMullen), Alex (Matt Stokoe) and Abby (Natasha O’Keeffe) are all returning for a final stint of community service.
The new series marks the first anniversary of the storm and a support group forms on the estate for those people who find having a super power isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Like… the ability to knit visions of the future, or to shag unwanted powers out of other people (you read that right) or to transform into a turtle. And as Dark Rudy likes to talk-slash-moan, it should come as no surprise that he is the first of our gang to start attending. And it’s here that he sees a very different future facing the team...

E4 has confirmed that Misfits will end after the soon-to-be-filmed series five, which is due on air in autumn 2013...
After five series, the launch of numerous careers in front of and behind the camera, and an identity so strong we'll still be talking about it long after DVD box-sets have been replaced by cerebro-retinal implants, E4's Misfits deserves a Viking funeral more than it does talk of having been "axed". Misfits has started filming its fifth and final series on E4.
Howard Overman's teen drama, about a group of young offenders who obtain supernatural powers, will air for the last time later this year. The fifth series will feature eight 60-minute episodes.
The characters Rudy (Joseph Gilgun), Jess (Karla Crome), Finn (Nathan McMullen), Alex (Matt Stokoe) and Abby (Natasha O'Keeffe) will all be involved in the show's last run. The new series will mark the first anniversary of the storm that gave the group powers.
Murray Ferguson, chief executive of Clerkenwell Films, said: "Misfits was a bold and confident commission that backed original ideas and new talent, quickly becoming a hit with its audience on E4 and around the world.
"It's been great to produce a show that has been able to innovate on screen and online, and that broke new ground premiering with huge success on Hulu in America.

When Series 3 of the British science fiction comedy drama Misfits came to an end this time last year, it was difficult to imagine what could happen next and which characters would even return if the series were to continue. With the revelation that most of the cast would not be reprising their roles in this new series, and that the series would instead be led by original member Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), recent additions Rudy (Joseph Gilgun) and Seth (Matthew McNulty), and new characters Jess (Karla Crome) and Finn (Nathan McMullen), it could either pick up quite suitably, or, more than likely, could go completely downhill. Fortunately, whilst the series will never be as good without its original cast members together, it worked out quite well.

One of the best programmes currently on the air, Misfits is set to restart this month with its anticipated fourth season, launching the first great little teaser trailer last week, which introduced us to the two new main characters.
With only one of the original characters from the first season returning for the fourth, it’s going to be an important time for the programme, and it will be interesting to see how the coming episodes unfold, and how they’re received by the viewing public.

But there are two new juvenile delinquent super-heroes joining "Misfits": Karla Crome will star as Jess and Nathan McMullen as Finn. According to Den of Geek, Jess is like a female Larry David. "She's the person who will say the un-sayable,...

Warning: Possible casting and plot spoilers both for Misfits and Game of Thrones ahead.
It's tough doing an oversees phone interview with U.K. actors when the connection is spotty and the Olympics festivities are going on full blare in the background. (He left at the end of Season 3 when his character traveled back in time.) But Rheon is thrilled that American TV audiences are finally getting to see the show [now airing on Logo] since he and the rest of the Misfits cast and crew "put so much work into it, and so much love."

S&A told you back in May that Karla Crome and Nathan McMullen would be joining the increasingly popular Channel 4 series Misfits. Now we get to see what Crome and McMullen look like in the now-famous orange community service jumpsuits. Misfits is scheduled to return to British TV screens later this year. Earlier in the year, there was serious talk of a Us remake (said to be shooting in New York City in 2012), but there have been very few public developments since then. Earlier this month, Misfits made its Us television debut on the cable channel Logo. Misfits' first season will be released on region 1 (Us & Canada) DVD next Tuesday, July 31.
