Selena Gomez stopped by the Gwyneth Paltrow-hosted Women in Film pre-Oscars event in La last night. We chatted with Selena on the red carpet and she filled us in on the "cute" and "weird" experience making the "Call Me Maybe" viral video runaway hit with Justin Bieber and their friends. It was apparently Carlos from Big Time Rush's idea and the group wasn't expecting it to become such a huge sensation. Selena also revealed her Oscars night plans - once again attending the Vanity Fair party with boyfriend Justin - and said she's rooting for Octavia Spencer most of all. Check it out and don't miss all our Live Oscars coverage!

Seventeen-year-old megastar Justin Bieber's new collaboration with Far East Movement and Lmfao just hit the web.
"Live My Life" showcases Bieber's vocals as he croons "I'm gonna live my life" in the background. We hesitate to say it, but the vocals most immediately recall a mix of Madonna's tone and Rihanna's cadence. The song, which features Far East Movement's synthy pop dance beats (not unlike their hit single "Like a G6") is on the rap group's upcoming album Dirty Bass (the single itself will be available on iTunes on Tuesday, February 28).
"Next Tuesday my feature with Far East Movement and Lmfao hits iTunes," Bieber tweeted on Wednesday. "Let the Countdown begin."

After Glee‘s tremendous success, many may have predicted a wave of musical TV series entering production as various networks tried to capitalize on Fox’s good fortune. None came. This week, Smash premiered on NBC to strong ratings, bringing the tally of network musicals up to two. Given the tremendous potential for gain, both in terms of ratings and music sales, isn’t it unusual for the networks to be so hesitant? After some investigation, it appears not- as much as Americans love a good musical, they rarely commit to those on TV. Below is a brief chronology of musical TV series from the 1960s on.
>1960: CBS and the DuMont network each take a crack at a musical series with original songs in the pop/Broadway style, but neither series, Inside U.S.A. with Chevrolet (1949-50) or Once Upon a Tune (1951), takes off.

One Direction have teased plans to embark on another tour. However, Niall Horan said in their latest video diary: "Thank you for all of your support and thank you all for coming to the tour and those of you that didn't get to come - maybe we'll do a tour next year and you'll get to come along." Justin supported his lady at her big fundraising acoustic show -- these two are incredible together! Selena also dedicated a song to her mother and brought her puppy Baylor onstage! Selena Gomez was so excited for her acoustic Jan. 20 show which supported Unicef, and it's no wonder why -- Justin Bieber helped to bring awareness to the great cause! Selena, 19, was joined by Justin, 17, at the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood -- as HollywoodLife.com told you First. The night was filled with highlights, but perhaps one of the most emotional moments came when Selena covered Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" and dedicated it to her mother, who recently suffered a miscarriage. But we also loved when Justin gave Selena a huge hug after the show. During the concert, he kept an eye on her puppy Baylor backstage -- what a great boyfriend!

Washington — The new National Christmas Tree is settling into its new digs just south of the White House.
President Barack Obama and his family officially marked the start of the Christmas season by lighting the tree in a ceremony just after dark Thursday.
The 26-foot Colorado blue spruce was planted in March on the Ellipse, a park that lies between the White House and the National Mall. Strong winds in February toppled the previous tree, which stood in the park since 1978.
In remarks delivered during the tree-lighting ceremony, Obama urged the crowd to be generous and to help others in need during the holidays.
"In this season of hope, let's help those who need it most: the homeless, the hungry, the sick and shut-in," he said. "In this season of plenty, let's reach out to those who struggle to find work or provide for their families."

It's hard to get me to watch a reality show of any kind, even if I can be talked into a competition show if there's the right contestant. But it's likely I'd tune in every week if Pee-Wee Herman were cast on Dancing With the Stars.
Speaking of my own personal animosity towards reality television, has anyone watched Sundance Channel's Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys? Because having seen the cast previews, I'd really like to have you explain to me why you watch it.
In depressing news, Spirit Day coincided with the Senate marking up the Department of Education funding bill, widely seen as the best way to pass the two anti-bullying and anti-discrimination bills for students. Neither the Safe Schools Improvement Act nor the Student Non-Discrimination Act were discussed, and are probably dead. Again.

Hilary Duff's gone. Miley Cyrus is going. But Disney has a new star groomed. Welcome to the Selena Gomez phenomenon
If you're neither a girl hovering around her early teens nor the parent of one, the name Selena Gomez may mean little. But to Jemma, Sophia, Thea and Katy, it means so much that they've skipped a day of school in the Surrey and Hertfordshire suburbs and planted themselves outside a central London hotel in the hope of getting a glimpse of her. Holding cameras and copies of her new album, When the Sun Goes Down, they intend to wait until the Texas-born actor-singer leaves for an instore appearance at HMV in Oxford Street. Then they'll race to HMV themselves – they've already got the blue wristbands required for entry – and get Gomez to sign the album.
"She's in my top favourite group [of pop stars]," says Jemma, eyeing a couple of loitering paparazzi disapprovingly.

Joe Jonas and Chris Brown rocked B96 Pepsi SummerBash in Chicago, Illinois over the weekend. It became Joe's first solo performance after he launched his debut single "See No More" earlier this month. As for Breezy, it's for the umpteenth time he performed solo at such summer concert.
The lead singer of the Jonas Brothers performed "Love Slayer", "Fast Life" and "Just In Love With You" in addition to showcasing the newly-released single which was coincidentally co-written by Breezy. While Joe didn't bring any guest on stage, Breezy shared stage with T-Pain at one point during his own performance.
The other musical guests at the Saturday, June 11 concert included Cody Simpson, Lupe Fiasco, Big Time Rush, New Boyz, Tinie Tempah, Tino Coury, Keri Hilson, Jay Sean, Eric Turner and Far East Movement.
