Exclusive: Freestyle Digital Media has acquired U.S. rights to the comedic documentary My Friend Tommy, along with North American rights to Blood Scales, an award-winning French-English doc about animal trafficking. The former title will debut on digital October 24th, with the latter hitting the internet on the 31st.
Directed by Nem Stankovic, My Friend Tommy follows Thomas “Tommy” Lee, a sheltered 40-year-old virgin who embarks on a cross-continental journey with his best friend, former pro-ball player and comedian Nem, to learn basic adult skills in a crash course on the life he’s missed out on. Nora Stankovic, Nem Stankovic, and Lauren Wolkowski produced the film alongside EPs Nick Risher, Patrick Tsang, Oliver Mochizuki, Utsava Kasera, Rahil Khandker, Wilson Siu, G. Lam, Archit Joshi, Christopher Aw, Sin W. Lau, Mark N. Taaffe, Jessey Lee, and Cherie Chan.

A festive get together of friends turns dark in the new horror-thriller Our Deadly Vows, now playing in theaters in limited release. Actor Chris Chalk makes his directorial debut with the film, in which he stars opposite his wife, K.D. Chalk.
The film from production companies Golden Concorde, Triangle Road Entertainment and Global Genesis Group co-stars Ashlei Sharpe (Star Trek: Picard), along with Cesa Pledger, Eden Marryshow, Chantal Nchako, Byron Bronson, and Natalie Woolams-Torres. Entertainment Squad, a boutique distributor founded by Shaked Berenson, acquired the film in May and is handling distribution. "He's gone, okay?" This impressive short film won the Grand Jury Award at the SXSW Film Festival a few years ago, and is now available to watch online. Beast is a short film written and directed by Ben Strang, a Maryland-native filmmaker & photographer. Set on an island in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, "which once hosted a vibrant fishing industry but now is slowly fading away in isolation and decline." The story follows a young boy named Daniel, played by Elijah Mayo, who recruits the help of a fisherman to figure out what happened to his father after a mysterious disappearance. It's actually a teaser for a series, not just a simple short, and not a feature pitch either. Which is why it ends right when it's getting good (you need to tune in "next week" to find out more!).
