On Tuesday night, Blake Leeper‘s cell phone rang with news that left him speechless.
After a two-year suspension from competition, Leeper, who was born without lower legs and began using prosthetics as a toddler, learned that he’d qualified to run against non-disabled athletes in the Usatf Outdoor Championships.
“Man, I could cry,” he tells People. “When I step into the blocks tonight, I’ll be making history.”
Leeper’s appearance at 10:46 p.m. E.T. Thursday in the 400-meter marks the first time a double-amputee has ever competed at the U.S track and field championships.

A half-hour after learning that he won't be allowed to compete in next month's Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Blake Leeper - a 26-year-old double amputee who had been predicted to win up to four gold medals at the Games - sits in a La hotel, staring gloomily at a nearby television screen. "I refuse to let this beat me," says a shell-shocked Leeper, who became known as the "American Blade Runner" after finishing second to Oscar Pistorius in the 400 meters at the 2012 London Paralympics. "But it really hurts knowing that I won't get the chance to break Oscar's record." Leeper, who was born without lower legs,...

Things are not looking up for Taylor Armstrong, the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast member whose husband, Russell, committed suicide last summer. As the Daily Beast reports, Russell left Taylor with a whole heap of financial problems when he killed himself, namely a massive lawsuit over his attempts to defraud a medical company. Now Taylor -- and her favorite jewelry and handbags -- are paying the price.
Last July, MyMedicalRecords.com accused Armstrong of stealing money that Armstrong had raised from investors (Armstrong was a venture capitalist and owned 60 percent of MyMedicalRecords.com's stock). The company sued him for $1.5 million after Russell and Taylor failed to disclose every person from whom they had received money. Then, in August, Russell killed himself.
In addition to mourning her husband and having her personal turmoil play out on national television, Taylor Armstrong has spent that past several months trying to settle the MyMedicalRecords.
