Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the Season 5 finale of Broad City.
The loopy, totally dope friendship of Abbi and Ilana of Broad City isn’t truly over, it’s just moved to anther plane of existence that lies somewhere beyond the city limits of New York and off the programming grid of Comedy Central. The 50th and final episode of the critically acclaimed buddy saga about two women who process life more than they actually progress through it.
The final episode was, fittingly, a stoner meander through NYC with the ever-vocal and always-local Abbi (Abbi Jacobson) and Ilana (Ilana Glazer), who have done for the Big Apple what Lenny & Squiggy did for Milwaukee or Bert & Ernie did for Sesame Street or Bill & Ted did for San Dimas — which is maybe not a whole lot, in the final analysis, but at least it all was accomplished with someone special...

Comedy Central’s latest development slate is diverse in more ways than one.
Not only has the cable network put together several new series with performers of color at the center, but the three shows picked up Tuesday by Comedy Central are all very different.
Ordered to series are the stand-up/musical show “The New Negroes,” the comedy game show “Taskmaster” and the scripted comedy “Corporate.” In development are shows from creators including Awkwafina, Neal Brennan, Arturo Castro, Franchesca Ramsey, Noël Wells and Flint Wainess, among others.
“The network when I got here was pretty traditionally targeted toward young white guys, both in terms of who the audience was and who was creating the shows for the audience,” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman. “We started changing that a few years ago by expanding that into having funny women on the network, with Amy Schumer and Broad City and a lot more since.

In the latest demonstration of the growing power of web series and podcasts to launch talent and potential TV shows, a pilot based on the web series "Broad City" has been ordered by Comedy Central, the network announced today. Created, written by and starring Upright Citizens Brigade alums Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, the online series, which was launched in late 2009, follows the girls through a typical array of cringe-inducing but funny New York experiences. It's great to be funny, but it also doesn't hurt to have friends like "Parks and Recreation" star Amy Poehler, who's an executive producer of the pilot along with Jacobson, Glazer, Dave Becky and Sam Saifer.
