- Her multifarious personality
- Vanessa is the lead vocalist for the hardcore band "Victim or Victory".
- She spur-of-the-moment moved to LA in an 80's RV she bought off of Craigslist and drove it from Iowa to California (to pursue acting). The motor vehicle broke down four times on the way to the West Coast. She lived in it for several months with no running water, electricity, heat, a/c, etc. She parked it in Inglewood and that's where she lived upon arriving to LA. It was also used as a mode of transportation to get her to and from auditions during this point in her life.
- Vanessa's favorite Romantic Comedy is "The Apartment", starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. Lemmon is one of her favorite actors.
- She participated in many sports from her Elementary school years until her University days. She specifically soared in Softball and Track/Cross-Country; winning several awards for her athleticism.
- It is important to her to volunteer regularly. She has volunteered for many programs helping kids; ranging from coaching youth softball games to being a Camp Counselor. She recently has been involved in a program that teaches elementary-aged girls the value of not bullying one another, not believing everything that they see in the media, and working on making positive changes to their mental and physical health. She also currently (June 2018) volunteers at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
- People always say that I'm a lot nicer than they thought I would be initially. Like all people with tattoos are serial killers or something. I always think of myself as a friendly, down-to earth, Mid-Westerner who is goofy and loves to laugh. I have a dark side, and I have demons like everyone else, but you won't see that side of me unless you're asking for it. Did that just sound like a threat? Here I am saying I'm friendly and then threatening you all in the same sentence. Whoops.
- I grew up watching Bruce Lee films, but it wasn't until I was much older that I realized how much I appreciate his philosophical views. I don't like using the word "hero", but his legacy and everything that he seemed to be is definitely an inspiration to me.
- With me, I am very sensitive and empathetic, but I also have misanthropic tendencies. This may seem like a convoluted or hypocritical thing to outsiders, but I strongly know where I stand with my outlook on humanity. I really, really do seek to help people in need. But there is no room in my heart for liars, manipulators, users, or people who inflict pain or violence on the innocent.
- I have a very strong personality and most people like cream in their coffee; I like mine black. I am not for everyone. And as sensitive as I am, truth is of more importance to me than being popular.
- I don't care if you live in a cardboard box or a mansion, I'm not going to treat you differently because of it. I either like the person that you are or I don't. And I'm not capable of faking that. Well, I'm capable, but I would never want to do that. Unless I have to be cooperative with you in a professional setting, there are no exceptions. I take my work very seriously. And I try to keep my social life uncluttered. You know, save the drama for the camera as much as I can.
