Arclight Films has unveiled the first look of Joel Kinnaman in Stefan Ruzowitzky’s thriller Ice Fall.

The story follows a young Indigenous game warden who arrests a poacher that knows the location of a plane carrying millions of dollars that has crashed in a frozen lake.

When a group of criminals and corrupt cops are alerted to the poacher’s whereabouts, the warden and the poacher must flee across the treacherous lake before the ice melts.

Exclusive: Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad) and Cara Jade Myers (Killers of the Flower Moon) are set to star in the thriller Ice Fall.

Stefan Ruzowitzky, director of Oscar-winning crime-drama The Counterfeiters, will helm the film which is written by George Mahaffey (Chief Of Station). Production is set to start in March in Europe.

Pic is produced by Arclight Films, Top Film, Addam Bramich, Ryan Hamilton and Rob Van Norden. Top Film is also financing. Arclight Films is handling worldwide rights and will commence sales at the European Film Market.

The new spy thriller Chief of Station is set to hit stateside. The film, which stars Aaron Eckhart and Olga Kurylenko, comes from the production companies Bee Holder Productions and Concourse Media Film. The movie has now also secured a distributor as Vertical purchased the U.S. rights and has plans to release the project domestically in May 2024. Exclusive: Vertical has acquired U.S. rights to spy thriller Chief of Station starring Aaron Eckhart, Olga Kurylenko and Alex Pettyfer.

The Bee Holder Productions and Concourse Media film is being lined up for a May 2024 domestic release.

Eckhart plays Ben, a former CIA European Station Chief whose world comes crumbling down after his wife, a former operative, dies in a terrible accident. After receiving cryptic information that his wife’s death might not have been an accident, Ben heads back into the shadowy underworld of Eastern Europe, teaming up with a former adversary to unravel a conspiracy that challenges everything he thought he knew about his wife and the agency he worked at for more than 20 years.

Supporting cast includes Nick Moran, Chris Petrovski, Daniel Bernhardt, James Faulkner, Laetitia Eido, Isobel Wood and Nina Bergman.

The film was written by George Mahaffey (Heatseekers) and directed by Jesse V. Johnson. Producers are Steve Lee Jones for Bee Holder and Matthew Shreder for Concourse.

Concourse handles sales and has sold the project around the world. Financiers include Ashland Hill Media Finance, Filmology Finance, Blue Rider Media, and Tip-Top Productions. Other producers include Simon Williams, Daniel Kresmery and Jonathan Halperyn.

The Dark Knight and Thank You for Smoking actor Aaron Eckhart is preparing to take to the skies for Midair, an action thriller from Concourse and Bee Holder. Magnus Martens directs from a script by George Mahaffey, with production scheduled for liftoff in July.

According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Midair focuses on a cargo pilot who’s flown rogue missions for the CIA. While in the air, the pilot is stalked midair (get it) by a terrorist forcing him to navigate a series of life-threatening obstacles. Exclusive: Magic Mike and I Am Number Four actor Alex Pettyfer is joining the Alec Baldwin-Olga Kurylenko action spy thriller Chief of Station, which starts production in November.

Pettyfer will play John Branca, a CIA agent overseeing a European intelligence division who’s been a steady hand for more than ten years and trusted ally to Ben Malloy (played by Baldwin), a legendary CIA Chief of Station. When Ben’s wife is killed in what appears to be a terrible accident, Branca takes over Ben’s old position as head of all Eastern European clandestine operations. But where do his loyalties lie?

Exclusive: Freestyle Releasing has acquired U.S. theatrical distribution rights to George Gallo’s Bigger which tells the tale of how brothers Joe and Ben Weider launched a fitness empire and along the way discovered Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Bigger will have its U.S. premiere on September 13 in Las Vegas to coincide with the Mr. Olympia competition that was created by the Weider brothers, and will be in theaters on October 12.

Tyler Hoechlin plays Joe Weider and Aneurin Barnard portrays brother Ben. Exclusive: George Gallo has signed on to direct the thriller Covet as his next feature film after he completes The Poison Rose. The latter pic stars John Travolta and Morgan Freeman and is gearing up to start shooting this month in Georgia.

The filmmaker, noted for his screenwriting credits on Bad Boys 1 & 2 and Midnight Run as well as directing such titles as Middle Men, will reunite with Emmy-nominated producer Steve Lee Jones and Scott Lastaiti. Previously, they worked on the fitness guru Weider brothers feature Bigger, which is being sold at Cannes by 13 Films.

Per Heat Vision, Timur Bekmambetov will direct upcoming action feature Heatseekers. F. Scott Frazer (The Numbers Station) is set to whip the George Mahaffey’s spec script into shape. Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes will produce the project for Paramount Pictures. Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan has also signed on as a producer.

Heatseekers has been in development since 2010, when Paramount has purchased Mahaffey’s screenplay in a mid-six figure deal. The latest plot description haven’t changed since then:

Wanted and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter director Timur Bekmambetov is set to direct the Michael Bay produced aerial action movie Heatseekers. There's really not much known about the story other than that it will center on an ex-military pilot who takes on a group of aerial pirates.

The movie is being written F. Scott Frazer from a spec script by George Mahaffey that was picked up by the studio for a cool six-figure payout. Frazer is currently writing a film for Universal called Day One, another for MGM called Metro 2033 and a Warner Bros. project called Line of Sight.
