Co-directed and co-written by Darren Grodsky and Danny Jacobs "Growing Up & Other Lies," is (as its title might suggest) about the trials of a last ditch, largely unsuccessful attempt to grow up -- after all, it's billed as an "anti-coming-of-age comedy." The film follows a group of friends (Adam Brody, Wyatt Cenac, Danny Jacobs and Josh Lawson) as they take an all-day walk down the entire length of Manhattan in an attempt to relive the uncomplicated ease of their early 20s, and spoiler alert: Things don't exactly go as planned. Check out this exclusive clip of Adam Brody doing his best to convince his very-pregnant girlfriend that a drunken Manhattan ramble with his buddies is more important than her last gynecological check up. "Growing Up & Other Lies" will be released in theaters and available on demand on March 20. Read More: Watch: Trailer For Indie Rom-Com ‘Growing Up & Other Lies’ With Adam Brody,...

The decision by the AFI/Aacta to maintain seven awards for non-Australian films while combining the best TV comedy and best light entertainment series into one category has been challenged by several producers.
They question why money and resources are being poured into the Aacta International Awards in Los Angeles when the AFI/Aacta is struggling financially due to lack of sponsorship and screen industry support.
Other producers defend the International Awards as a way for the organisation to build the brand and strive to make the awards more valuable to private and government sponsors
AFI/Aacta CEO Damian Trewhella tells If it is simplistic and wrong to believe that ditching the international categories would free up more money for the Australian awards. He says the international awards subsidise the Oz awards.

When Philip Quast accepted the role of Artist in Residence at the National Institute of Dramatic Art this year, he had a dual motive.
The first was to impart as much knowledge as he could to his students, drawing on nearly 35 years as an actor in stage, film and television. The second was to learn more about the mindset and motivations of aspiring young actors and directors.
.As older artists we have not necessarily come to terms with the fact that, for us, language revolves around form while for the younger generation it revolves around function, .said Quast, who graduated from Nida in 1979.
.Shakespeare is not being taught properly in schools any more, grammar is not being taught in the same way. Younger people tend not to ask questions because the answers are already being given on things like Facebook.

The mind is the only bastion of sanity. Inside we’re meticulous prisoners, making thousands of decisions a day just to keep our keel straight. From blinking to sniffling to ordering a pizza there isn’t a single moment spared the conflict of possibly doing something different at that exact time. At the controls we’re in charge, often times falling back on auto-pilot; letting our quiet subconscious take the reigns, silently navigating us through a world taken for granted in all its pandemonium and possibilities. Aiden (played feverishly by Josh Lawson) makes a living as a crime-scene photographer, snapping graphic images and selling them to interested buyers. His days are long and monotonous: checking the police scanner for possible work, chatting with his cop buddy Pete (Ron Perlman) and attending 12 step programs to keep busy. He believes in God, tells him of his plans to be a better man and about the man he wants to...

Dawn Olivieri says there was a time when a wonderful role and story were enough to draw her to a project. Those elements continue to be essential, but working with a stellar cast is a prerequisite as well. "There is only so much you can do if you're pulling weight and there's nobody there to play off of," she notes. "You can't have those beautiful moments with new actors who are so worried about everything else but the moment. With the stellar actors I'm working with now, there's so much more that can blossom."The actors she's referring to include Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Glynn Turman, Ben Schwartz, and Josh Lawson, who are co-starring in Showtime's new series "House of Lies." The raunchy, dark comedy recounts the nasty shenanigans of a hot management consulting firm, headed by a delightful sleaze played by Cheadle. Olivieri is his ex-wife and business competitor,...

Before last year, Jon Bernthal was one of those actors that has had many bit roles in films and TV shows, the kind of actor whose face you knew but whose name escaped you. Then in 2010, he landed a supporting role in Roman Polanski‘s The Ghost Writer, and a major role in Frank Darabont‘s hit TV series The Walking Dead (which is currently airing in it’s second season to strong reviews). Since then, he has focused mainly on the show, but now Deadline is reporting that he has been casted in the upcoming action drama Snitch, co-starring Dwayne Johnson and Susan Sarandon with Ric Roman Waugh (Felon) directing.
The story centers on a “construction company owner (Johnson) who becomes a DEA snitch to reduce his son’s prison sentence.” Bernthal will play “Bernthal plays an ex-con laborer for the construction company who is forced by his boss...

Lawson, meanwhile, fills a role that was originally supposed to be two brothers, but he convinced Roach at a table read that he could carry enough of the comedic load to make...

The aliens from Sony's "District 9" scored big during The Hollywood Reporter's 39th annual Key Art Awards.
Honoring the best in movie marketing, Friday's event at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles saw "District 9" take home 11 awards, including the best-in-show prize for its integrating marketing campaigning as well as three other best-in-show laurels for its outdoor advertising (built around its "Bus Stop for Humans Bus Shelter"), TV spots and digital campaign.
The awards ceremony culminated with Sylvester Stallone receiving the Visionary Award, given annually to a filmmaker who inspires movie marketers.
"At the end of the day, there is no question that Sylvester Stallone delivers great product," THR publisher Lori Burgess said before calling Stallone to the candlelit stage at what once was the altar of the former St. Vibiana Roman Catholic cathedral, which has been converted to a party space. "He's put his stamp on film like very few people of his generation.
