When it comes to behind-the-scenes controversy, America’s Next Top Model has some of the craziest stories. Someone recently revealed that a friend who competed on the reality TV show was told to purposefully ignore other contestants and bring up touchy subjects.

Let’s be honest, if Tyra Banks tells you, “Congratulations. You are still in the running to be America’s Next Top Model,” you’re already out of the running to be a real top model. While some contestants have found success -- Analeigh Tipton and Yaya DaCosta, arguably two of the most successful alumni, have established careers in acting -- the show has failed to produce an actual working supermodel.
Meanwhile, a number of contestants have found nothing but heartache when cameras stopped rolling. Here are six ill-fated outcomes, the first three actually tragic, horrible and devastating, the latter four more...unfortunate (so as not to compare apples to oranges).

America's Next Top Model is under fire after legal documents filed by former contestant Angelea Preston allege that the show and its host, Tyra Banks, wrongfully disqualified Preston because of her escort past. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, claims that Preston originally won the reality show's cycle 17 and was entitled to a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl and a spread in Vogue Italia, but once it was discovered she had worked as an escort, Preston was disqualified. Lisa D'Amato was ultimately named the winner. The suit goes on to say that Preston's former job didn't break any of the show's rules,...

Tyra Banks is being sued by a former America's Top Model contestant who claims she was wrongly denied the show's grand prize because she previously worked as an escort. According to reports, Angelea Preston filed a breach of contract suit on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, asking for at least $3 million in damages for intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. In addition to Tyra, who serves as the executive producer of the show, the suit also names the CW Network as a defendant. The lawsuit alleges that Preston won the reality competition and was named America's Next Top Model during cycle 17 of the show in...

Preston, 28, is suing Banks for $3 million, according to the Associated Press. As 2011 swings around to its inevitable conclusion, the Rubbernecker feels the need (okay, you can call it an addiction) to fete this year's TV glories and gories. And there were quite a few of each. As you may know I have a fondness for the ticky-tacky known as Reality Television, I so love the term because it's so not anyone's reality I've ever known. So this recap will examine first the ridiculous... then the sublime.
Best Reality Show Of 2011 (and it is, actually, a Reality Show)
Hands down, this would be the Gop debates we've had occasion to scope in the latter part of the annum. I mean, what can one say? This has been such a delicious treat! Congratulations, Tyra. If your goal was to stage a Top Model finale that stuck with us, you did it. It's been more than a week, and I'm still furious. And my fury isn't going away.
I keep telling myself this isn't a big deal. Because in the long run (and even in the short one), it's not. But it's just so damn puzzling. Tyra has never missed an opportunity to shame one of her America's Next Top Model contestants in the past. And reality shows, especially aging ones with declining ratings like Top Model, rarely miss an opportunity to reveal a major, game-changing twist. So why, more than a week after we learned that cycle 17 finalist Angelea Preston was mysteriously disqualified, and that the show filmed a new final judging panel two months after production ended, do we still have no idea what happened?
Confused fans quickly put together that...

In spite of last Wednesday's finale of "America's Next Top Model: All Stars" making headlines stemming from the dismissal of contestant Angelea Preston, former judge Janice Dickinson isn't shocked by the show's recent controversy.
"CoverGirl are the ones who choose the model -- not any of the judges. People don't know that!" she revealed in an interview on Janice TV at FilmOn.com. "When I found that out, I split. It's rigged!"
Since show creator Tyra Banks reportedly fired her in 2005 after four seasons of the reality show, Dickinson has publicly ridiculed Banks in the past calling her a "huge, big woman," and a "man." It appears that the 56-year-old still has a distaste for her former boss.
"The fact of the matter is [Tyra Banks] makes like $90 million," she said. "She makes a lot of money per year still hawking that franchise worldwide -- they're doing it in every country --...

Lisa D'Amato, the wild child of Cycle 5, was the winner of "America's Next Top Model" all star edition. She tells Zap2it she knew in her heart she was the winner.
Obviously you're glad you came back to "Top Model." Did it just blow away your expectations?
"I definitely think that it was the perfect opportunity. It landed in the perfect pocket in my life where I couldn't be more appreciative, more prepared, more ready ... I had already been executing my brand to the fullest extent. I always thought my brand was 'fearless,' but they gave me 'daring,' which actually fits right in there."
Did you have a different idea of what the show was going to be coming in, because some of the girls have expressed they thought it was going to be different from what it really was.
"For me, branding always meant what is involved in the entertainment industry.

I cannot believe the day is finally here and we can escape from this atrocious cycle of America's Next Top Model: All Stars. The final three are about as different as can be and at this point I'm really not sure who will win or who I ultimately even want to win. Allison is obviously my favorite model thanks to her ability to take great pictures in almost every situation and her personality not making me want to punch her in the face. I might not want Allison to win though because I would worry it would hold her back from being a bigger, more successful model. Lisa still gets on my nerves when she trash talks or makes things uncomfortable. But I've got to hand it to her — she's been taking great pictures this season, has stepped up to the plate on every challenge and would fit in...

America's Next Top Model crowned a winner Wednesday night in its all-stars cycle, but not before a shocking and largely unexplained disqualification of one of the final three contestants. All eyes were on Angelea throughout the America's Next Top Model All-Stars Finale. Not because she performed particularly well, but because she was disqualified and sent home!

The finale did a great job of wrapping up loose threads from the cycle. “Pot Ledom,” the forgotten Michael Cinco dresses and the dreaded CoverGirl commercials all made an appearance in the action-packed episode.

Last night's America's Next Top Model All-Stars finale sure didn't lack for drama. One finalist, Angelea Preston, was mysteriously disqualified. Then, with little explanation from Tyra, the show or the network, the entire final judging panel was reshot with the two remaining finalists. And, once again, cycle 12 fan-favorite Allison Harvard ended up runner-up rather than big winner, coming in second to cycle 5's Lisa D'Amato.
The fan response to all this controversy has ranged from curious to furious, but it hasn't fazed Allison too much. "I made it so far again, and I'm so lucky that I get to wake up every day and be like, wow, my life is ridiculous and funny, and I've had such a peculiar past few months. But I think that's the beauty of it," she told me when we spoke this morning.

On the "America's Next Top Model" all stars cycle finale, it came down to Lisa D'Amato, Allison Harvard and Angelea Preston. But at the final judging, only Allison and Lisa were present.
Why? The judges just said that Angelea had been disqualified. But they did not elaborate past that much information. We haven't been able to dig up much either.
Some Yahoo Answers people are saying that Angelea posted "Top Model" spoilers on her Facebook page. Some on Wiki Answers are even saying she said that she won the season, so they re-shot the finale and had Lisa win instead.
We have received an official statement from the CW:
"After production wrapped on the current cycle of America's Next Top Model, we learned information that made Angelea ineligible and she was subsequently disqualified from the competition. As a result, new scenes were filmed to address this for the audience during the finale.

On the "America's Next Top Model" all stars cycle finale, it came down to Lisa D'Amato, Allison Harvard and Angelea Preston. So who took the crown?
After an unusual panel where the judges informed us that Angelea had been disqualified (we talk about why here), Allison and Lisa were the final two, with Lisa being declared the winner.
Let's see how we got there ...
The episode starts off with each girl talking about their journey, blahblahblah sad story cakes. Let's get to the crazy challenge and photoshoot.
The Cover Girl print ad and commercial
This is always a hilarious trainwreck. Lisa's print shoot is really pretty, her eye makeup is crazy and looks awesome. Her commercial lines are actually pretty solid, except for a weird "oh yes" line, but honestly, that's the bad writing. It's a clunky line.

Welcome back from Thanksgiving break my darlings! The ladies are still in Greece and it looks like this week's episode is going to be filled with a lot of creepiness, yelling, crying and, as per usual, ridiculousness.
Tyra is going to have the girls be part of a "fashion film" based on her book, Modelland, which Lisa says is going to be "epic." I'm at the point right now when if one of the models says they're going to be a part of something "epic," I prepare myself for the worst.
Speaking of the worst, Angelea reminds us that she's still there while Dominique was sent packing after the previous challenge. She admits that she was surprised Dominique was the one sent home but that she was a hater. We're then treated to a montage of Angelea's emotional breakdown.
As if she were watching the same recap clip, Lisa...

We're down to our final four on America's Next Top Model: All Stars (where has this cycle gone?!) and the pressure is most definitely mounting. First up is the regular reflection on what happened last week. Angelea admits she never thought Dominique would get sent home and seems to still be smarting from the girls' comments about her last week. Lisa, meanwhile, thinks that Angelea's emotional outbursts aren't going anywhere and suggests that it's become "survival of the fittest" and she's "going the distance". Laura's still on a high after her first photo finish ("I feel like I'm back!") and tells us how important it is for her reaching this stage on the All Stars cycle: "This doesn't happen to people where I come from. You better bet I actually have the strength and confidence to be (more)...

"America's Next Top Model" all stars keeps getting weirder and weirder, as Tyra busts out her book, "Modelland," and makes the girls film a motion editorial for it.
The Challenge
The girls have to write a blog post for the editor of Vogue Italia, which is one of the prizes if they win this cycle. This is their audition blog post and it has to talk about the scene and the fashion of Crete. They get an outfit, they chose a location, have to take photos and then they write their blog. They have three hours for all of it. The best one wins a trip back to Crete for two for seven. Nice.
Lisa focuses on hot spots, while Angelea goes more real and gritty. Allison and Laura both go to the same spot on the water. We revisit the blog thing later and find out that Angelea wins the challenge.

We're back in Greece and Dominique is psyched to be the dark horse in the competition. She says that while she misses her children — who are absolutely adorable — she's doing this for them and hopes to bring home the All Star title.
Wait, I take back my previous statement about the location of the models. Some of the girls are in Greece and Angelea is still stuck on Get A Clue Island. She's so confused about why she keeps getting stuck in the bottom two while Dominique hasn't been there once. She also insists that Dominique is not an All Star. Homegirl needs to get her eyes checked and take a look at their pictures again. She also needs to listen to all of the previous comments from the judges because they keep waiting for her to be great on camera. I'm fed up with her nonstop boasting when she's...

We're down to the Top 5 on America's Next Top Model so the pressure is really on. Dominique thinks she is the dark horse because a lot of the others didn't think she would be here. Angelea privately agrees, saying that she thinks she is stronger than Dominique and doesn't get "all-star" from her. Laura thinks Angelea needs to gain confidence and says that she is very guarded, while Lisa calls Allison her toughest competition despite her personal opinion that she looks dead. First up this week is a potentially explosive challenge overseen by Miss J. The girls have to judge each other on their walks, portfolios and overall star quality, which predictably ends in fireworks when Miss J quizzes everyone on who they think should be leaving the competition this week. Laura refuses to answer, as does Allison and Lisa, but Dominique decides that honesty (more)...

It’s getting down to the wire! With just five girls left in the house, tensions were running high for all involved in "Exploring Greece." When Mr. Jay announced that the girls had to critique one another for the challenge, you could just feel that fuse burning.
Sure enough, Angelea thew a fit when Dominique passionately announced that the former was the weakest link in the house. It probably came as a shock to Angelea because all the girls (making history of Antm) magnanimously announced that no one is less deserving than anyone else.
Although Dominique and sweet Laura attempted to help Angelea, she stormed out and was coaxed back only by Mr. Jay. Maybe it’s because I adore Laura and she seemed genuine, but I thought Angelea completely overreacted. Does anyone think that girls were simply trying to throw her off her game?
I’m loving the change of venue so far,...

We start out back from judging and the "America's Next Top Model" girls are apparently turning into catty monsters (like they haven't been already, right?). Angelea can't believe she's been in the Bottom 2 and Dominique hasn't. Lisa thinks her biggest competition is Allison - "She blinks and [the judges] freak out ... I think she looks like she's, like, dead."
Nice, ladies.
Challenge
The challenge has them critiquing each other. There is not a lot of constructive criticism, mostly just random I-don't-like-this stuff, with no real reasoning behind it. But Then. Miss Jay asks them to say who doesn't deserve to be there. Laura, Allison and Lisa all take the Miss Congeniality route and say there is no one who doesn't deserve to be there. Dominique then busts out that Angelea is lacking in confidence and isn't owning her all-star-ness. It's actually a nice speech about how Dominique sees potential in Angelea and thinks she can give more.

In a challenge absolutely designed to create conflict among the remaining contestants on 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 9Pm Et on The CW), the girls were asked to critique one another, and even decide which of them really shouldn't be on the show anymore.
When Dominique singled out Angelea for that latter honor, she immediately went on the defensive. Laura tried to explain to her that they all love her and think she's wonderful, just lacking in self-belief, but Angelea wasn't hearing any of it.

The "America's Next Top Model" girls head to Greece, to be part of a Greek salad for their photoshoot. Yes, really.
Greece is the Word
The girls find out it's time to head to Greece. Before they leave, Lisa makes some snotty comments about Allison and how she (Lisa) is more the whole package. You're just mad you got beat at the music video contest, Lisa.
They have a challenge on the flight to Crete where they have to prepare a one-minute speech that includes a bunch of Greek words. No huge surprise that Angelea thinks she'll just wing it. Because if it's memorized it won't have her flavor or something.
Allison rocks it and wins the challenge. Most of the girls really biff it. Poor Laura is so awkward and hardly uses any Greek. She's hilarious. Angelea hardly uses any Greek and then makes a bathroom joke. Oh lordy.

Alexandria Everett is the latest contestant sent home from "America's Next Top Model" All Star edition. She tells Zap2it what she's been working on since she did back-to-back cycles and that she was was a little upset Cycle 17 was basically just like the one she'd just been on.
Are you glad you went back for another cycle of "Top Model"?
"Yeah, you know, I would definitely regret if I said I wasn't. I did it for my fans and I did it for myself, so I'm really happy with that decision. I feel like you can always learn from every decision that you make. I learned a lot, just like Cycle 16. I will use everything I learned to my advantage now in the real world."
Were you surprised to get the call for All Stars? You couldn't have been off of Cycle 16 for very long when it came.
"Right...

On "America's Next Top Model," I thought the music video challenge was going to be a trainwreck, but it turns out I was wrong.
The Challenge
Some Madison girl is on the Tyra Mail screen giving make-up tips. I'm sorry, but I work on the internet and I have no idea who this is. Hmm. It turns out the challenge is writing a song and starring in a music video. Um, yikes. This so unfair for the girls who aren't musically inclined. And it's not something a non-musically-inclined person would even care about doing. *headsmack*
Angelea comments, "We're going to be shooting a music video and it will be viral." You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Jay then says, "This can totally change your life. Think how going viral worked for Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber." Um, first of all...

Are you glad you went back to "Top Model"? Was it everything you hoped or expected it to be?
"Ummm, I'm very happy that I came back, I can say that. It wasn't everything I expected it to be, though, I can admit to that. I thought [before I came back], ' I've gone on, I've done my own modeling, I feel like I've kind of mastered that aspect of it' and then it's like I'm not hearing much positive feedback and I was confused about what they wanted. Are you glad you came back to "Top Model," was it everything you were expecting?
"It was everything that I came back for and more."
Some of the other girls have complained about what was pitched to them versus what the season turned out to be. Do you have the same complaints?
"I'm sure you don't want to hear mine. We were told it would be branding and then instead it was 'Antm' Cycle 17."
What were you expecting when you thought there would be more branding involved?
"More stuff like the perfurme challenge, more things that. Things you can actually associate to a brand, not so much like modeling challenges.

Well we made it everybody! We're finally in the home stretch of this cycle and it couldn't have come soon enough. As we start tonight's show Lisa is upset about Bre leaving but also adds that Bianca doesn't have a bodyguard anymore.
Alexandria, looking the least fierce I've ever seen her, reminds us that the judges knocked her picture for looking like "a reality TV star" and I'm reminded what a joke that is considering the fact that they are on a reality TV show. They — Tyra included — need to get over themselves and probably shouldn't use that as a way to cut the contestants down, particularly considering who their guest judges have been so far.
Shannon says she thinks the judges want more raunch from her. I think she just needs to stop being boring.
Bianca is pissed that the house is full of cliques because now she doesn't...

So I'll admit I was a bit too dazed by the appearance of cute New England Patriot Julian Edelman to give my recap of Coco's guest judging episode of Antm: All-Stars my full attention last night. (Call me!)
From Angelea's breakdown to Bre's screaming, Rocha was a wonder - gracious, patient and not a diva at all.

But I'm a professional and I'm here to deliver, so here are the shots of Rocha with the competing pairs in the "bar b*tchfight" challenge, via Youtube slideshow, featuring fierce music. I'm sure Gloria Steinem would have a lot to say about this. I just have this to say: I'm hungry. And I'm totally going to watch the New England Patriots all the damn time now.
Anyway, y'all, Lisa and Dominique ended up winning this challenge - rightly,...

It's a double elimination on "America's Next Top Model" week, where they have what is maybe the most ridiculous photoshoot of all time (and that is saying something).
The Challenge
The girls are at the Roosevelt Hotel to design their own fragrance. Ooh, that's awesome. I would really get into that challenge. Lisa names her scent "Neon," Laura goes with "Love," Dominique goes with "Survivor," Shannon names hers "Smitten," Angelea names hers "Angelea" (of coruse she does, Angelea rules), Allison names hers "Honey Blood," Kayla's is "Free" (again, snoooooze), Bianca's is "Candid" and Alexandria's is "Diamondatrix." Huh.
I wish these were for sale because I really want to smell them all. I feel like I would like Allison's just because I love her and I'm kind of a big weirdo like her. But who knows? I want to smell them!
For the challenge, they are selling...

Coco Rocha is on hand for a "b**** fight" photoshoot. That should be such a stretch for some of the "America's Next Top Model" girls.
After Panel
Bianca continues to be confrontational and think everybody hates her because she's a threat. Must be Wednesday.
The Challenge
Flag football. Awesome. Brittny Gastineau and Julie Henderson are there. Brittny is a socialite and Julie is a "fiercely real" supermodel. The teams are filled out by the eliminated girls, then some NFL players - Julian Edelman from the Patriots, Jahvid Best from the Lions, Kareem Jackson from the Texas and Dante Hughes from the Chargers. Angelea is beside herself. You and me both, girl.
The stupid Tyra twist is when a flag is thrown, you have to immediately strike a pose for the photographer. You win a spread on Tyra's website and some jewelry. The winning team splits $5000 between the two charities represented...

Last week's episode of America's Next Top Model: All-Stars may as well have been renamed The Bianca Show. When she wasn't sparring with Lisa, giving stinkface on the runway or accusing Shannon of having an "ugly soul," Bianca was plotting further conflicts and complaining that her fellow models were jealous of her, didn't respect her, and were out to get her. (If they weren't out to get her before, they sure are now.)
By the grace of Michael Jackson's memory and La Toya Jackson's kindness (plus the judges deeming Lisa and Angelea the worst photos of the week), Bianca escaped elimination, despite her multi-part, multi-enemy meltdown -- which means that tonight, we're in for another installment of the drama. Something tells me that if Bianca doesn't subdue the attitude, the panel won't be so forgiving next time.
Check out four deleted scenes from last week's tense episode:...

Another Wednesday night is here and my booty is firmly tooched on the couch for America's Next Top Model. The three of us (I'm assuming there's still three of us) have made it all the way to the Kardashian guest star appearance. Yay for us.
When we last were with the girls, Angelea won the challenge and now she is feeling supa dupa fly and in her solo interview she says the other girls better be scared because they underestimated her. She's ready to take over now.
Bre thought she'd be doing better since she's been working as a model professionally for the last six years but she's not doing as well as she'd like.
Lisa says we better hold on tight because she's about to unleash the crazy beast from inside. I can't wait because I am bored as hell.
Kayla and Bianca talk about how they didn't think...
