Berlin (Germany), Sep 12 (Ians) Robert Lewandowski’s goal record couldn’t be more impressive ahead of the delicate group encounter against his former side Bayern Munich.
Having scored 89 Champions League goals makes the 34-year-old Pole one of the competition’s most successful scorers, including 69 he scored for the 2020 treble winner.
The Pole has scored 49 times since the 2017-18 season, outpacing Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema at 35.
Preparation of Bayern’s defenders seems intense in advance of Tuesday’s group encounter.
It is an open secret that the Bavarian defenders around Matthijs de Ligt, Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano, and keeper Manuel Neuer undergo advanced training to be updated when it comes to the Barca spearheads, reports Xinhua.
Considering Lewandowski’s 67 goals scored from inside the box, it is said to be one of Bayern’s main issues to keep their former striker out...

Berlin, May 19 (Ians) World Cup winners Thomas Mueller and Mats Hummels will return to the German national team following an absence of more than two years after coach Joachim Loew confirmed on Wednesday they will be in the squad for Euro 2020.
Bayern Munich attacker Mueller, 31, earned the last of his 100 caps in November 2018 and was dropped from the squad by Loew, along with defenders Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng, a few months later.
But Loew has struggled to refresh the squad which has failed to find top form since the disastrous exit from the 2018 World Cup in the group stage as reigning champions, reports Dpa.
And with Loew himself leaving his post after the Euros, which were delayed a year by the coronavirus pandemic, Mueller's contribution to Bayern winning the 2020 treble and this season's Bundesliga brought him back into contention.

Berlin, May 18 (Ians) Anger is brewing among fans of German football club Bayern Munich following the departure of head coach Hansi Flick and icons such as David Alaba, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez.
The anger is being directed at the designated chairman of the club, Oliver Kahn, and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, who have been accused of jeopardising the club's motto "Mia san Mia" (We are what we are), reports Xinhua.
Bayern has more than 358,000 enrolled members and 4,500 fan clubs.
Fans say that Salihamidzic had turned the motto into "Me-myself-and I".
The fans have also started targeting new Bayern coach, 33-year-old Julian Nagelsmann, who, they say, is the reason behind the latest departure of assistant coaches Miroslav Klose and Hermann Gerland.
"How can it be that there is no space for the fans' biggest heroes?" a fan asked on social media.

Berlin, Feb 28 (Ians) Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the league and cemented its top spot after Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry provided a brace each to down Cologne 5-1 on home soil in the 23rd round in the Bundesliga.
Both sides started highly motivated into the encounter, but Bayern needed no warm-up time and opened the scoring with just 18 minutes gone when Leon Goretzka's pass into the box found Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting, who tapped the opener home from five meters, Xinhua news reports.
After the opener, Bayern gained momentum while Cologne had to focus on its defensive work as Lewandowski unleashed a dangerous header on target in the 25th minute on Saturday.
Bayern's top striker remained in the thick of things as he doubled the advantage in the 34th minute after Goretzka's second assist allowed Lewandowski to mark his 27th goal of the season.

A cushioned first touch and a mischievous look up. Run. Step-over, step-over. Goal.
There’s nothing more eye-catching than a confident footballer effortlessly dancing past their opposition. The dribbling-kings are the most important player in any football side as they open up spaces, ruin tactical formations and provide an unpredictable glimpse of magic that can change the course of a game at any point.
As these talented world-beaters carry the football like they have velcro on their boots (and the ball was one of those luminous felt 5-a-side things) you can only marvel at their confidence and natural ability. Lionel Messi changed the game. His dribbling skills are inconceivable and the Barcelona winger appears to be some sort of football god (just ask Jerome Boateng) who has been created by Zinedine Zidane and Diego Maradona to terrorise defenders as their legs aren’t up to it anymore.
