Electronic Arts announced today that it has acquired Pasadena-based studio Industrial Toys. Led by Alex Seropian, “Halo” co-creator, former CEO of Bungie Studios, and former executive at Disney Interactive, the privately held developer and publisher was founded in 2012, and most recently released its latest game in 2016.
The team is joining EA in an effort to bring “new game concepts” to fruition. Its 14-person team will now be a part of EA’s Worldwide Studios organization, which is a creative collective tasked with developing various titles for Electronic Arts across all platforms.
Previously, Industrial Toys worked on the interactive graphic novel “Midnight Rises” in tandem with John Scalzi and Marvel and DC’s Mike Choi. Following that, in 2015 the team released mobile first-person shooter “Midnight Star.” In 2016, the team debuted the sequel “Midnight Star: Renegade,” set 120 years after the events that unfolded in “Midnight Star.” The studio has worked solely on...

This March is Marvel's Venom variant month, and thanks to Cbr we have a look at the first four covers in the series. The covers feature artwork by Francesco Mattina (All-New Wolverine #18), Tom Raney (Captain America: Steve Rogers #13), Mike Choi (Totally Awesome Hulk #17), and Kate Leth (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #18). ...

Totally Awesome Hulk #6
Story: Greg Pak Art: Mike Choi Colors: Andrew Crossley
Review: Greg Pak turns in another fun chapter in the “Chulks” life, as Amadeus experiences the fun “misunderstanding/fight/team up against villain” encounter with Thor. Last issue Hulk was brainwashed into doing something pretty bad for Enchantress and now he must make things right. The story loosely ties into the struggles Thor is going through in her own book at the moment with Malekith nicely, and I enjoyed the continuity there. Mike Choi continues to deliver some absolutely spectacular art and really is a stand out to keep an eye on, along with the beautiful colors by Andrew Crossley. The series continues to be entertaining and nice departure from the old “Hulk Smash” story lines.

If you are an '80s kid that grew up watching Transformers, then I’ve got a poster set here that you have to have. They were created by Mike Choi and the first one features Optimus Prime with the slogan, “Till All Are One." The second one features Megatron, and he comes with the slogan, “Peace Through Tyranny." They both kind of reflect what is going on right now between the Democrats and Republicans. Each poster can be purchased for $25 individually, or you can get the set for $20 right here.

Captain America: Sam Wilson #3
Writer: Nick Spencer
Artist: Daniel Acuña with Mike Choi
Letterer: Joe Caramagna
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Nick Spencer goes full out Ant-Man levels of hilarious, and readers won’t be ready for this third issue. In a change of pace, we get inside of Misty Knight’s head to see where a missing Sam has been captured. It’s a quick few pages detailing on how Misty takes no shit, even from Sam and is a capable part of Sam’s entire operation. Then, there’s the special treat of a “traditional” Captain America spectacle in the form of the return of Cap-Wolf!
Even with the return to wolf-form, the plot of what exactly the Sons of the Serpent are doing with the kidnapped people in the desert continues. There is also a rather obscure Spider-Man villain, who comes off as a more crazier rendition of the...

“Lost in the Sun” gets most elements right in order to put together one of those gritty and melancholic southern crime dramas, except for when it comes to producing a unique screenplay and direction that rises above mediocrity. Robert Barocci’s cinematography captures the desolation of southern highways with static and grand vista shots worthy of the film his lens is clearly aping, The Coen Brothers’ nihilist masterpiece “No Country For Old Men.” Meanwhile, Mike Choi’s deftly paced editing makes sure the audience soaks in Barocci’s solid Dp work without resorting to needless quick cuts or narrative gimmicks in order to create a more “modern” or “edgy” indie. And Daniel Hart’s subtle yet effectively somber score, although derivative of many examples of the genre, infuses the film with just enough dramatic credibility. For the past ten years, Josh Duhamel has been stuck as a pretty boy placeholder...
