This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 29.
Dancing With The Stars has named its newest Mirror Ball champion on Monday night. Winning the latest season of ABC’s hit celebrity dance competition was Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev.
The final episode of the season, which started with 15 pop culture figures, saw Bristowe best fellow competitors Catfish‘s Nev Schulman, musician Nelly and One Day At A Time lead Justina Machado.
Schulman landed in second place, with Nelly and Machado in third and fourth, respectively.
Bristowe and Chigvintsev outdanced the fellow competitors with a Moulin Rouge-inspired swing duet. While it may be the first time Chigvintsev’s winning the series in his nine years involved, Bristowe isn’t the first Bachelorette to have taken home the trophy.
In 2019, former Bachelorette star Hanna Brown won the popular dancing show with partner Alan Bernsten.

NBC’s The Voice topped total viewers Monday in primetime with a 2.9 million edge over its closest competitor, the Season 15 launch of ABC’s The Bachelorette. But Hanna Brown’s debut on ABC’s dating competition drowned out NBC’s singing derby for the night’s top spot in the demo, tying Fox’s 9-1-1 Season 2 wrapper.
Still, Brown’s entrance marked the dating franchise’s lowest-scoring start to date, down from the prior low of last season’s Memorial Day launch. It also clocked a record low in viewers, down 833,00 compared to a year ago, when it did not share its slot with The Voice.
Meanwhile, the 9-1-1 second-season finale fell four tenths compared with last season’s finale. As a lead-in, it did not help the second episode and time-slot premiere of Fox’s Paradise Hotel...

[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Keep an eye on Daily Dead for more double feature recommendations, and check here for our previous Halloween 2017 coverage.]
The two films in this Halloween season double feature recommendation seem like an unlikely pairing, but definitely have more in common than meets the eye. Despite little differences here and there, both films are small, loud, shocking, and out of this world. I also really enjoy films whose plots slowly unravel, and we learn what is going on as the truth is revealed to the characters. For me, that kind of pacing keeps you guessing from start to finish, and Honeymoon (2014) and 10 Cloverfield Lane have all of these elements in spades.
To set the mood for what will be roughly four hours of an extraterrestrial-beings-take-over-our-world marathon, I recommend that you start things off with Honeymoon, directed by Leigh Janiak and starring Harry Treadaway (Mr. Mercedes, Penny Dreadful), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Ben Huber, and Hanna Brown. It tells the story of newlyweds Paul (Treadaway) and Bea (Leslie), who are...

Stars: Rose Leslie, Harry Treadaway, Ben Huber, Hanna Brown | Written by Leigh Jeniak, Phil Graziadei | Directed by Leigh Jeniak
Honeymoon follows a newlywed couple Bea (Rose Leslie) and Paul (Harry Treadaway) honeymooning in an old cabin in isolated Canada. Their initial romance soon begins to fade as strange occurrences begin and Bea starts acting mysteriously towards Paul.
Jeniak’s narrative is packed with intrigue and unease: we see the initial loved up couple romantically enjoying their honeymoon, yet gradually grow to almost resent each other as the film progresses. This change is marked by one strange event in a sequence which sees the alarm clocks go off in the middle of the night and Bea to go missing – only to be found in the woods, wearing a torn nightgown and with strange marks on her leg. From this moment on events grow stranger and Jeniak builds on the tense and...

It’s the beginning of the rest of their lives together… but for vacationing newlyweds Paul and Bea, that treasured time might be cut short. Something is in the woods surrounding their secluded cabin that will test the young couple’s new marriage like few crises can, and Arrow Films is releasing the horrors of Honeymoon on home media in the UK this winter.

The upcoming weekend boasts an onslaught of new Specialty titles vying for audiences. In all likelihood, however, many will have a short big screen life as the fall’s awards contenders ramp up and crowd others out. Five of this week’s dozen-plus newcomers are spotlighted here with Fox Searchlight’s The Drop edging on a wide release. The feature starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and James Gandolfini will bow in over 800 theaters. TWC’s The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby also joins the fray with a platform release. The film also has two accompanying titles told from the perspective of its two main characters, which will be released in more limited runs in October. Magnolia will open its thriller Honeymoon in a day and date release while Dada Films’ Swearnet: The Movie breaks a movie record with the most F-bombs ever. And Cohen Media Group’s My Old Lady bowed Wednesday in limited release.

Period of Adjustment: Janiak’s Eerie Relationship Chiller a Provocative Debut
Weirdly unsettling, Leigh Janiak’s directorial debut, Honeymoon, is one of those rarely effective offbeat psychological thrillers, utilizing a simple premise and indie framework for maximum potential, the kind of film whose bizarre pleasure are few and far between. Those seeking the kind of material that dares to go to strange extremes should take note. Surprisingly effective given that it begins like any number of indie films concerning two people that should have gotten to know each other better before plunging into marriage, Janiak’s film moves swiftly from allegory to all-out bizarreathon.
Recently married newlyweds Paul (Harry Treadaway) and Bea (Rose Leslie) have chosen to abscond to Bea’s family cabin, a perfect, isolated setting in the off season. It seems this was a rather hurried affair, both of them still leery about being honest about little things here and there,...

The first official poster for Magnet Releasing's upcoming chiller thriller 'Honeymoon' has been unveiled. Although not a patch on the first teaser poster, which you can check out at the link below, this new one-sheet seems to edge more away from horror and into the realm of romantic drama. The movie stars British actors Rose Leslie ('Game of Thrones') and Harry Treadaway ('Cockneys vs Zombies', 'The Lone Ranger') and will arrive both in theatres and on iTunes/On Demand from 12 September. 'Honeymoon' is written and directed by Leigh Janiak and co-stars Ben Huber and Hanna Brown. Check out the new poster and the official trailer below....

Updated 7/23: Trailer now embedded below. Set to make its Canadian debut at Fantasia in Montreal tonight (July 22), Honeymoon is "very much its own beast," according to our own Ryland Aldrich. It's "a good story, excellently told, and very, very scary." That story follows a newly-married couple who decide to spend their honeymoon at a family lake house in a remote, isolated location. Things happen to disrupt what should be a lazy, blissful week, and then more things happen, and then things get horrifying. Leigh Janiak directed; Rose Leslie, Harry Treadaway, Ben Huber, and Hanna Brown star. A new poster is suitably mysterious, while suggesting the horror that lies within. It's heading to theaters and various Video On Demand platforms on September 12. A new trailer has...

Review by Andrew McArthur
I approached my final horror of this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival with some trepidation as it has been a very mixed year for the genre. The Green Inferno was an outstanding update of the cannibal film, whilst Let Us Prey and Scintillahave been drab generic British horrors. Fortunately, Leigh Jeniak’s relatively impressive Honeymoon leans more towards the former of these films.
