David Nail recreates a conversation about mental health with his mother in the newly released song “Oh, Mother.” The track also serves as the title of the “Let It Rain” singer’s new Ep, due out November 1st.
Nail has been one of the few country performers in recent years to address mental health, openly discussing his struggles with depression in interviews. In “Oh, Mother,” the Missouri native tackles the topic straight on and offers some reassurance to the woman who raised him in the process.

After film director Joseph Kosinski gave Dierks Bentley a sneak peek at Only the Brave, the singer knew he somehow had to be a part of the new movie, which tells the gripping true story of the 19 elite firefighters who died battling an Arizona wildfire four years ago.
“I told him I’d come to the red carpet just to open doors up,” Bentley, 42, recalls to People.
But Kosinski had much bigger ideas than doorman duties. He wanted Bentley to collaborate on a song that would accompany a wrenching moment in the film: during the credits when photos of the...

David Nail‘s twins will be turning 1 next month, and the new dad is still finding out just how much of a worry-wart he is when it comes to his kids.
“My wife’s kind of a hippie here . . . not much of a worrier,” the singer, 37, told People on the red carpet at the Cma Awards on Wednesday. “I’m the dad that I have to see them at all times. Those close to Trace Adkins are rallying around him after he took the stage intoxicated during a show in New Jersey on Wednesday. The singer slurred his words and struggled to work through his set at radio station Rockin' Country Thunder 106's Guys with Guitars Under the Stars concert in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. "Very sad," posted concertgoer Jill Zangara Hartobey of South River on the Country Thunder Facebook page. "Felt so bad leaving but too hard to watch. Such a hard disease to conquer. Hope he can make it work." "This illness is an everyday fight," a source close to Adkins tells People.

That must have been one heck of a Super Bowl party for Luke Bryan. On Monday, when the singer announced the newest members of the Country Radio Hall of Fame during the opening of this year's Country Radio Seminar, he blamed too much partying on a badly bobbled introduction. "I had a Super Bowl party at my house last night," Bryan, 39, said sheepishly. "The remnants of that may be present." Then on Tuesday, at the annual Team Umg concert event during Crs, the usually high-octane performer chose to park himself behind a piano. "I'm still hung over," he confessed to laughter from the crowd.

For nearly two hours on Thursday, 16 country artists played an array of new releases, about-to-be-releases and a few surprises fresh out of the writing fires. From the superstars to the up-and-comers, the performers - all represented by the Universal Music Group conglomerate - each had a moment to shine before the several hundred programmers, deejays and other assorted station staffers gathered for the annual Country Radio Seminar. The show climaxed with an unannounced appearance by Keith Urban, who earned a standing ovation before he even sang a note.

It was a blast from the past in many ways Wednesday night on American Idol. Season 7 winner David Cook returned to mentor the top 8 finalists on ’80s night, a theme the rocker absolutely crushed during his season with “Hello” by Lionel Richie and later “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. Cook brought a needed new perspective for the contestants on how to perform on live television and what it’s like to be going through the crazy process. EW caught up with Cook on the phone after the performances to ask what it was like to be back at Idol.

ScHoolboy Q will hand off the top spot on the Billboard 200 next week to fellow rapper Rick Ross, who will handily claim the top spot with sales of up to 160,000 for “Mastermind.” ScHoolboy’s “Oxymoron” slides to No. 5. Ross’s album is one of four debuts in the top 10: Pharrell Williams’ “G I R L” will bow at No. 3 (95,000), Lea Michele’s “Louder” at No. 4, and country group Eli Young Band’s “10,000 Towns” at No. 10 (27,000), according to Hits Daily Double. “Frozen” will stay in the No. 2 spot (100,000), despite the film’s track, “Let It Go,” snagging the Oscar for best original song on Sunday night. Lorde’s “Pure Heroine” looks good for No. 6 (31,000), although it may have to fend off Beck’s “Morning Phase” for that spot, as his title is also expected to sell around the same amount. Eric Church’s former No. 1, “The Outsider,” will be at No.

The "American Idol" theme for the Top 12 is "Home." They should have to sing songs with their home state or city in the title -- "Sweet Home Alabama" would get a lot of play.
1. Jena Irene, "Suddenly I See," KT Tunstall
Nice choice for her tone of voice and the peppiness is fun, though the background is giving us a seizure. Also, we're disappointed that on "you can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl" that Jena didn't do the little minor run down on the second "girl." But it was a good start. No real missteps, but also not something that blew the roof off. A little blah. She could've done more with it, which is then exactly what Harry Connick Jr. says. For sure.
