Priyadarshini is an International and Indian Award winning Singaporean-Indian playback singer, live performer, Independent artist, lyricist in Indian film, Indian classical and Independent music industry.
She has sung for over 180 movies, several private albums, jingles, corporate brand anthems, television serial title songs, devotionals and non-filmy songs for over 18 Indian and foreign languages Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Braj, Rajasthani, Marathi, Malayalam, English, Tibetan, Odia, Japanese, Spanish and others.
She debuted as a playback singer in Tamil Film Industry with "Kadhal Kadhal" from movie Kadhal Dot Com, a duet song with Hariharan for the Tamil film Kadhal Dot Com under music director Bharathwaj. She has also sung with S. P. Balasubrahmanyam for Actor Yash's Kannada movie Rocky. She has performed for numerous live shows in India and abroad.
Priyadarshini is credited to be the first Indian playback singer to receive Ph.D Doctorate for her 100 years of Film Music research with the longest doctoral thesis over 1000 pages long. She has published several articles and papers. As a researcher she has been actively working in many research areas in music & arts specifically in areas of Indian film music, world music, cinema studies for more than a decade.
As a lyricist, she has also written several lyrics for independent songs and movies in Tamil language.
Priyadarshini has also lent her voice for varnams, krithis, viruttams, thillanas, Bhajans in new and rare classical ragas. She has also performed Carnatic Classical Concert for the Tyagaraja Aradhana Festival, Thiruvaiyaru, and many semi-classical performances in India and across the globe.
She has appeared as a judge on television reality shows, musical competitions and has made on-screen cameos in independent albums, short films, and feature films. She also extends her talents to hosting special live musical shows and programs for esteemed broadcasting and popular television networks.
As a music educator and entrepreneur, she is the co-founder and managing Director of PRISM Foundation and PRISM Recording Studios. She also serves as the Managing Director of Audio Labels - PM Audios & Entertainments and Mugus Records.
In addition to her music career, Priyadarshini holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Master's Degree in Indian Music (Carnatic Classical) from the University of Madras. She also has a post-graduation in Naturopathy & Yogic Science from the University of Madras and is certified in Western Music from ABRSM - Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music, London, and Trinity College of Music, London.
Awards & Recognitions ------ Her album "Meera: The way of the storm" received ISSA 2024 International Music Award from International Singer Songwriters Association, Atlanta, USA for International Best Album of the Year in which she lent her voice for all songs of Meera Bai.
