- Your importance in this world isn't measured by how you feel...it's measured by how you make others feel.
- I love a good Rodney Dangerfield joke. The one I remember the most is: "The other day I came home and I told my kids, "Hey someday, you'll have kids of your own." And one of them looked at me and said, "Yeah, someday you will too."
- Growing up in Bayonne, New Jersey...in an Irish-Italian family... where my parents ended up meeting because my father was a psychiatrist and my mom was his patient. It was around then I realized the deck was sort of stacked against me to be a comedian.
- When my wife walks down the street at night, she has a bottle of pepper spray in one pocket and a bottle of hand sanitzer in the other. Because there's nothing more terrifying than a rapist with a cough.
- I really like to write personal things about difficult situations that I've been in. I don't come from a place of cleverness. It's not the jokes, but the truth and authenticity that's going to grip the audience. People want to be let in on your secrets.
- The real measure of art is how deeply you pierce somebody's soul with what you've created.
- You'll find that your best performances will come from when you're at your most relaxed. It's easier said than done.
- Create your own jobs and hire yourself. The happiest and most fulfilled people I see in this industry are people who make and produce their own work. Whether it's a podcast, or a weekly comedy show, or a web series, or a script they've written, or a movie they're producing, etc. You have to create your own path.
- You have to be honest because the camera is going to pick up on everything and I mean everything, even more so than your scene partner. So, it behooves you to be honest, and then you create your own process for what will help you feel the most honest in the moment.
- You have to enjoy the ride. There are going so many ups and a lot of downs in this profession. So it can't just be about the blind ambition of trying to 'make it!' There has to be a music inside of that you really want to sing.
