For most of us, September means just one thing: back to school! Even those of us who’ve been out of school for years still sometimes think of early fall as a time of new beginnings. Your little ones might not feel the same way, though, as they head back to the classroom! If they need a little cheering up on a Saturday morning, look no further than your local Cineplex theatre. Every month there are classic family-friendly features playing on Saturday mornings at 11am. Admission is only $2.99 and a portion of the proceeds goes towards Free the Children. Why not treat the family by introducing the next generation to an old favourite, or discover a new family favourite together, on the big screen!

One of the better animated movies to come out in the last few years was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It’s very funny and shares a surprisingly emotional story too; and like most animated movies it could fit in as a TV series just fine.
Sony announced today that it is developing twenty-six 22-minute traditionally animated episodes of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: The Series with Dhx Media. It will play as a prequel to the movies and focus on the teen years of Flint Lockwood, with a few familiar faces along for the ride. I wish I had more time to keep up with the animated shows aimed at kids these days, the Tmnt show and Kung Fu Panda are always pleasant to watch while channel surfing so I’m sure Meatballs will be just as good if not better.

Just to recap, so far this week we’ve heard news that Uncle Buck, In The Heat Of The Night and Say Anything have been earmarked for TV treatment. While Say Anything has already been canned due to original director-writer Cameron Crowe’s vocal disapproval of the project, there’s still a clear trend emerging. And that’s not taking into account other titles announced in recent months; Real Genius, Minority Report and Rush Hour. With TV networks increasingly turning to film for inspiration (caused by a lack thereof), today we can add another title to the list, as Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is now destined for the small screen.
Sony Pictures Animation have joined forces with Dhx Media in developing a spinoff TV series of the successful animated franchise. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs: The Series will contain 26 22-minute episodes that are set to follow...

There’s clearly something in the water. And we don’t mean a Hippotatomus. With movies becoming TV shows left, right and centre, one more is looking to make the leap between screens big and small – though this one feels like a more logical extension of the original. Yes, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is in development as a TV cartoon. The series will focus on the high school years of eccentric scientist Flint Lockwood. Set years before the first film, it’s nevertheless hoping to fit in appearances from the movie’s characters, including Flint’s father Tim, Steve the Monkey and even Sam Sparks, his future love interest, as the new school reporter. The announcement doesn’t mention whether any of the voice cast – which has included Bill Hader, Anna Faris and Neil Patrick Harris across the two films – will be back for recording booth duty.“Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs...

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is to be adapted into a television series.

★★★☆☆ Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013) follows on from the phenomenal success of the surreal 2009 original, which came out of nowhere to challenge animation hotshots Disney Pixar and Dreamworks. Adapted from the beloved children's book by Judi and Ron Barrett of the same name, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs followed inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and quick-witted weathergirl Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) as they attempted to fix the inexorable shower of food created by Flint's 'Diatomic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator'. However, things are about to get tasty.

There’s more fun with food in the PG animated movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.
Bill Hader (Turbo) and Anna Faris (What’s Your Number?) return to voice inventor Flint Lockwood and intrepid reporter Sam Sparks, respectively.
This time around, Lockwood discovers that he didn’t actually destroy his machine in the original film. Instead, his invention is now creating animal-food hybrids, “foodimals!” Lockwood and his friends have to embark on a new adventure to save the world again, but this time from hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheesepiders and other foodimals.
The $115 million-grossing sequel got high praise from critics, 71% approval, according to Rotten Tomatoes. As Entertainment Weekly‘s Keith Staskiewicz wrote: “The animation is inventive and elastic, the dialogue zippy and shamelessly punny, and the tone lighthearted and fun,...

Chicago – I was paying attention to the movie. Correction: I was mostly paying attention to the movie. It was challenging to ignore my angry, empty stomach and fully enjoy the food coma that is “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”.
Just don’t make the same mistake I did and eat first.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
To justify a sequel, a mostly new filmmaking team converted inanimate food that rained from the sky to living, breathing and speaking “foodimals”.
The star of the foodimals? Barry the strawberry, who turns out to be the star of the film. Like his fellow foodimals, Barry is an ambulatory chunk of food spawned from an invention that goes by the mumbled name “Fldsmdfr”. In the sequel, the Fldsmdfr has been popping out food on the island of Swallow Falls since the first film.

In an early scene from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, inventor protagonist Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader) enters a factory full of lab-coated workers. Lockwood perks up instantly after consuming many cups of coffee handed out at stations around the lobby. As another character puts it, the constant stream of caffeine is “mocha motivation,” which helps to keep the inventors excitable and alert with fresh ideas.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is an animated sequel full of this coffee-drenched inspiration, although more linked with zany energy than originality. The film is always trying to overwhelm you with dazzling animation, sight gags and brisk action-packed moments, hoping it all sticks. However, this hyperactivity is noisy and frenetic, whereas moments of character and story depth barely percolate to the surface.

The Herculean task of any sequel is repeating the experience of the original film, or improving on it. That's nigh on impossible due to the simple fact that you only get to take the viewing public utterly by surprise once.
The out-of-nowhere novelty and delight of Sony Animation's "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," based on Judi and Ron Barrett's children's book, is missing in "Meatballs 2." The design and color palette is as glorious as ever. But the laughs are few and innovations fewer in this generally winded knock-off.
Inventor Flint Lockwood's cuisine-creating weather machine has come to the attention of his idol, corporate scientist and TV science show host Chester V (Will Forte), who worries that the island of Swallow Falls is too dangerous to live on -- for now. The gadget is producing food animals -- predators, "Taco-diles" and Cheese(burger) Spiders, Su-sheep and Shrimpanzees and Fla-mangoes.

If Anna Faris wrote the next sequel to Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, the animated world would be taken over by nachos, her favorite food of all-time.

In the sequel, Flint Lockwood’s food-making machine has evolved into something worse; it’s transforming food into food-animal hybrids. Luckily, no food-rain spoiled the red carpet of the "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" premiere -- but there was still plenty of silliness.
Starring Bill Hader and Anna Farris, "Cloudy 2" picks up after the first movie's massive food storm and follows Hader's Flint Lockwood, who leaves Swallow Falls to work for Will Forte's Chester V. But when Flint returns to his hometown he discovers his machine is still churning out food, except this time, instead of weather, it's food-animal hybrids. Just imagine the chaos -- shrimpanzies, watermelonophants, and apple pie-thons.
Farris, who returns as the voice of Sam Sparks, got goofy for photogs alongside Hader, who flashed his signature silly smirk. Co-star Neil Patrick Harris looked dashing as always, while Terry Crews and Kristen Shaal goofed off with their animated counterparts and costumed characters, as well as other familiar faces, including Rob Corddry, Marcia Gay Harden, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

The first film was hysterical, and whether the sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs will retain that originality, remains to be seen. I'm game, especially with the "There's a leak in the boat scene." Priceless. Starring in the film, along with who they're credited as, are Bill Hader (Flint Lockwood), Anna Faris (Sam Sparks), James Caan (Tim Lockwood), Will Forte (Chester V), Kristen Schaal (Barb), Terry Crews (Earl), Andy Samberg (Brent), Neil Patrick Harris (Steve) and Benjamin Bratt (Manny). Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn direct the film scripted by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein and Erica Rivinoja, based on the characters created by Judi Barrett and Ron Barrett.

The highlights from this year's Comic-Con were Tom Hiddleston surprising Hall H as Loki and Andrew Garfield spending a majority of his panel in character as Spider-Man. With the exception of Sacha Baron Cohen and the Spinal Tap crew, actors very rarely make appearances dressed in character. An even rarer sight is seeing voice actors dressed as the animated characters they play. It can be a bit bizarre, but it's always a treat to see. Here are 15 (and a half-ish) actors in cosplay as their own characters.

There's a reason this thing was originally set to be titled "Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers": those foodimals can be finger lickin' fierce!
Check out the Sony Pictures' international trailer for "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2," showcasing more of Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and his, um, epicurean adventures. The wacky inventor's oh-so-pesky machine — the "Fldsmdfr," short for "Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator" — is still bent on causing global catastrophe (with gravy on top of the food mountain!).
This time, the thing's flinging out killer foodimals, like giant cheespiders and vicious tacodiles, and those suckers are teaching themselves to swim so they can "attack the world!" Talk about an outta control food fight. Naturally, Flint teams up with his pal Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) and the rest of their little food-flinging team to head back to Swallow Falls and destroy the thing once and for all.

After a look at some very adult oriented trailers, I think it’s time to lighten things up around here. Meatballs anyone?
Here is the new trailer for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, the sequel to a surprisingly funny and smart flick. The plot this time around has Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) returning to Swallow Falls to clean up the mess created by the Fldsmdfr, only to find that food is now taking on the form of mutant beasts. It looks promising if not zany enough for kids if you ask me.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 opens on September 27th.

The forecast in a new "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" trailer? Deadly and dangerous, with a good chance of death. That's what Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) face as they try to stop mutant food beasts including shrimpanzees, mosquitoasts, tacodiles (supreme), watermelephants and more. And no, none of those are typos. See video: Turbo Wants to Redefine 'Snail's Pace' in Trailer for DreamWorks Film There are also tomatoes on the island, though there's nothing interesting about them, unfortunately. "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2," the sequel to the 2009 surprise hit, reunites Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and his food-making machine with his buddy Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) and a whole lot of walking, talking edibles. This time around, Flint's machine is creating weird and scary monsters that are part animal and part delicious foods.
The latest trailer gives us a good look at the wacky creatures Flint, Sam, and their crew will be fighting, such as tacodiles (terrifying taco crocodiles), hippotatomuses (potato hippos), watermelophants (watermelon elephants), and cheespiders (cheeseburgers with French fry legs). There are good monsters, too, like Barry the Strawberry, a big-eyed strawberry ripe for plush toy tie-ins, and assorted friendly-faced veggies and fruits known as foodimals.
Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Will Forte, and James Caan are among the returning voice actors; the sequel also adds the hilarious Kristen Schaal ("Bob's Burgers") and Terry Crews to the mix.

Have you seen Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the adorable 2009 animated film from the undeniably talented duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller? Of course you have. Not having seen it would be an atrocity. Seriously. Imagine, if you will, that the lords of cinema were gracious enough to grant us a sequel. A return to Swallow Falls in which Flint (Bill Hader), his beloved Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) and their ragtag group of supporting characters returned to the scene of the previous crime, where food had begun to evolve and turn sentient. A land of Shrimpanzees and Tacodiles. No, this isn’t a fever-dream for your inner child, it’s an actual Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Exactly the sort of thing this world needs, if you ask me. Heads up: The forecast is calling for meatballs once again this fall.
In "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2," Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), Sam Sparks (Anna Faris), Brent McHale (Andy Samberg), Steve the (mentally unstable) Monkey (Neil Patrick Harris) and the rest of the team reunite for a battle of epic pro-portions September 27.
We got a special sneak peek of the film -- including never-before-seen footage and a presentation from directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn -- so we're serving up five nuggets we digested from the experience. -- By Christopher Rosa and Jacqueline Lem
1. This movie is pun-tastic.
Every other line in this film looks like it's going to be a pun, and we are perfectly okay with that. The main source of the verbal fiesta stems from the names of the foodimals (see #2 to get the dish on those cute creatures). What do you call a Pb&J sea creature?...

Here's a new featurette for Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2. It focuses on the Foodimals species, which are food-animal hybrids that threaten the island of Swallow Falls. Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) have returned to save the day from ferocious cheesespiders, chirping strawberries, and giant taco beasts. I enjoyed the first movie, and the sequel looks like it's going to be just as fun!
It's always been Flint's dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine -- which turns water into food -- is still operating and is now creating mutant food beasts. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world... again!

In 2009 we witnessed a rare occurrence when Sony Animation's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs managed to turn a popular children's book into an even better movie. The film followed inventor Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader) from being an outcast child inventor to becoming an outcast adult inventor; only now he's accompanied by a pet monkey named Steve (Neil Patrick Harris) and plays with much bigger toys. One of them, a food replicator called the Fldsmdfr, short circuited out of control and caused gigantic food to fall from the sky. Craziness ensues and Flint gains some unlikely friends including local celebrity Brett (Andy Samberg), cop Earl (Terry Crews), and spunky weather woman Sam Sparks (Anna Faris). It departed from the mythology of the beloved children's series, but it did...

In "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," we met Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), an inventor with big dreams of being recognized for his work. Those who've seen the film know Flint gets his wish after his invention, the Fldsmdfr, a device that turns water into food, malfunctions and showers his hometown, the island called Swallow Falls, with giant cheeseburgers, scoops of ice cream, and, yes, meatballs, instead of rain.
Flint, with the help of brainy weather girl Sam Sparks (Anna Faris), his dimwitted monkey friend Steve (Neil Patrick Harris), and other eclectic characters, manages to destroy the Fldsmdfr and save the day -- or so he thinks.
Moviefone was recently invited to a preview of "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2," set to hit theaters in September, and it's safe to say fans of the first movie -- and of the book that inspired it -- are in for a treat.

Following a hilarious and pun-filled teaser trailer for Sony Picutres Animation's sequel Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and an amusing featurette with cast member Terry Crews, a closer look at the yummy follow-up is here. The sequel supposedly picks up 60 seconds after the end of the first film, and it's up to Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) to save the town of Chewandswallow Falls from the engulfing food paradise spawned from the Fldsmdfr. Alright, alright, Terry Crews‘ unabashed excitement over the upcoming Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 isn’t entirely inexplicable – the former football star (and apparent renaissance man) is lending his voice to the new production, taking over the role of tough cop Earl Devereaux from Mr. T – but damn if the man is not excited about this new sequel. Fortunately, we are too. In the new film, Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) and gal pal Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) return after the disaster of Swallow Falls, with Flint now employed at The Live Corp Company, run by his idol Chester V (Will Forte) and his “highly evolved orangutan with a human brain” Barb (Kristen Schaal). But while Flint and Sam have matured since we last saw them, they’re not the only ones, as Flint’s Fldsmdfr machine has also evolved, and it’s busy pumping out a number of different food-imals that threaten the...

Check out the new poster and first trailer for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2. I’m such a huge fan of Peter Lord’s and Chris Miller’s 2009 film and this animated comedy picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s hit left off.
Inventor Flint Lockwood’s genius is finally being recognized as he’s invited by his idol Chester V to join The Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind. Chester’s right-hand-gal – and one of his greatest inventions – is Barb (a highly evolved orangutan with a human brain, who is also devious, manipulative and likes to wear lipstick. It’s always been Flint’s dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine (which turns water into food) is still operating and is now creating food-animal hybrids – “foodimals!

While this first poster for the upcoming Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2isn’t quite as adorable as our first look at the project from last month, it certainly makes the many food-imals we will soon meet look…well, hungry. Just how weird is this film going to get? The sequel brings back Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) and his lovely lady Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) after the disaster of Swallow Falls and during Flint’s exciting new tenure at The Live Corp Company, run by his idol Chester V (Will Forte) and his “highly evolved orangutan with a human brain” Barb (Kristen Schaal). Of course, nothing can go quite right for Flint, and we soon learn that his Fldsmdfr machine is still running, and it’s kept itself busy making a number of different food-imals that just might destroy the world (deliciously and adorably). Y'know, I really enjoyed the first Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, and it was one of those kiddie pics that I rolled my eyes at when I first heard of it. However, it turned out to be pretty damn funny and clever as hell, which in turn earned it a spot in my blu-ray collection. Bill Hader as the "somewhat mad" scientist Flint Lockwood is awesome and Anna Faris as Sam Sparks, the news reporter who falls for ol' Flint is a blast. Mostly, it's just a...

For its first sequel, the newly-minted Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs franchise has decided to take things in a slightly different (and tastier) direction. Instead of putting Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) and his lovely lady Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) back into harm’s (meatball’s?) way in another town besieged by giant food, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 has organically grown its fresh story, piling on to the logic of the first film in a clever new way. In the new film, Flint has joined The Live Corp Company, run by his idol Chester V (Will Forte) and his “highly evolved orangutan with a human brain” Barb (Kristen Schaal), and he’s happily working away, unaware that his disaster-prone Fldsmdfr machine is actually still running, and it’s evolved quite spectacularly. Sony Pictures has released our first look at the Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs sequel, Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers. I loved the first film, it was surprisingly funny and extremely entertaining. These first images give us a look at the crazy food world that we'll see in the sequel. You'll find close up images of these below.

Raking in critical acclaim and more than $243 millions worldwide, the animated adventure Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs whet Sony Pictures' appetite for more movies centered on the shortsighted inventor Flint Lockwood and his plucky ladylove Sam Sparks. So the studio hired Horrible Bosses scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein to spin a new story based on the beloved children's book by Judi and Ron Barrett. Set shortly after the events of the first film, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 reveals Lockwood's Fldsmdfr machine - which transforms water into various food items - was not destroyed as we all thought. Instead, it has been hard at work making curious new animals that are part animal, part vegetable (or cheeseburger or pastry) that are becoming a threat to the little island of Swallow Falls. Last summer we learned that this delectable menagerie would include creatures like watermelephants, tacodiles,...

The inventive animated feature inspired by Judi and Rob Barrett's charming children's book, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs centered on Flint Lockwood, a wacky scientist whose innovations fail to catch on until he solves his town's food shortage by manipulating the weather to make it rain their favorite treats! The results were at first enviable, then dangerous but ultimately hilarious and entertaining. So what could its sequel Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers have in store for Lockwood and his chipper Gal Friday, Sam Sparks? The short answer is mutants. Delicious, delicious mutants. EW reveals that the leftovers of the sequel's title are food that has evolved into strange new animals, like watermelephants, tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, and a nonsensical chattering strawberry called Barry. But not every munchable mutant is so sweet. Some.like a giant, french-fry-legged bacon cheesespider.threaten to destroy what is left of Swallow Falls!

Get your eyes (plates?) ready to feast on a delicious new Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs sequel that’s apparently so tasty that almost all of its lead voice cast has returned for seconds. End food puns. Sony Pictures Animation has today announced, quite unsurprisingly, that the voice cast for Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers will include “Bill Hader as inventor Flint Lockwood; Anna Faris as brainy weather girl Sam Sparks; James Caan as Flint’s technophobic dad, Tim Lockwood; Andy Samberg as Swallow Falls’ local celebrity “Baby” Brent; Neil Patrick Harris as Steve the gummy bear-loving monkey; and Benjamin Bratt as Sam’s mild mannered cameraman Manny.” Joining the cast is Will Forte as “world-famous super-inventor” and head of the Live Corp Company Chester V (Forte played a background character named Joe Towne in the first film), Kristen Schaal as Chester’s talking orangutan Barb (essentially, she’s his Steve), and Terry Crews as...
