Call off the search dogs. Lower our security threat level back down to chartreuse. Our long national nightmare of not knowing the full Top 24 on "American Idol X" finally ended Thursday night (February 24), as Seacrest & Co. spent 14 hours reading 19 names. (Apparently "Idol" was just getting us in the mood for Sunday night's Oscar telecast.)
When the dust finally settled and the also-rans were told to mind the gap as they boarded the "Idol" Obscurity Train (Erin Kelly, Tiwan Strong, Brittany Mazur and Jimmie Allen, meet your conductors Vanessa Wolfe, Erskine Walcott and Hadas), "Idol" fans were left with a promising batch of 24 hungry young singers. And in an "AI" first, all 24 semi-finalists were profiled over the course of the two "big reveal" episodes. (Although, how could they not be in three hours of televison?!)
First thing's first, let's address the giant Tourettey/Aspergery elephant in the room: James Durbin, whose...

Tonight’s first Britain’s Got Talent dance act was Myztikal and at first they looked like a bit of a Diversity copy, that is until some of the members came forward to sing and rap.
It worked brilliantly and the first two vocalists were astounding but it all changed when the girl with the green tie sang – things got a little bit tuneless around that part.
Piers Morgan called it out saying that the last singer killed the whole performance he then opted out. Luckily, Amanda and Simon gave the group a second chance and two yeses on the basis of the tight routine and good starting vocals. We liked what these guys did – it was very fresh, but they obviously need to perfect their act for the next time!
What did you think of Myztikal? Leave your comments below!

Ellen DeGeneres as judge on Fox "American Idol" has cinched the ratings for the night, according to Variety. Tuesday night (Feb. 9) began the herd winnowing Hollywood Week on "American Idol," where the real deals are culled from the one hit wonders of the local auditioning process. Many personalities we liked from earlier auditions were axed for not rising to the occasion, notably the small town girl Vanessa Wolfe from Vonore, Tn. She choked in last night's audition, and I was sad to see her go. The Johnny Confidence of the series so far, "SkiiBoSki" was booted too. The judges were assembled, and the parade of kids each took center stage and were sorted quicker than a box...

Tuesday night (February 9) kicked off Hollywood Week(s) on "American Idol," an always-magical time when the dead weight from the early audition episodes gets kicked to the curb faster than you can say "SkiiBoSki."
This season's first Hollywood Week (or Hollyweek) episode was especially epic because it introduced us to an eye-opening new element on the judge's panel that will change the way I view the show forever: The Coke cups were replaced with Vitamin Water Zero bottles. I know! What happened to our show, you guys?
Oh, and I suppose Ellen DeGeneres made her "Idol" judging debut, too.
Yep, Ellen is now officially part of our big, dysfunctional "Idol" family. And although I initially thought she was a terrible choice (based on her spotlight-hogging star power, her conflict of interest and one astoundingly painful guest judge appearance on "So You Think You Can Dance"), I can now say that...

Hollywood Week on American Idol means a lot of things to a lot of people, but for me, it's the time of validation. Contestants who I hated like "country girl" Vanessa Wolfe or people who had no business getting a Golden Ticket like Skii Bo Ski and the guy who split his pants are instantly eliminated, proving that they didn't deserve all that audition screen time.
But Hollywood Week is also the chance to become a star, to start getting you name and face out there to the American Idol voters, and that's exactly what Andrew Garcia did.

"American Idol" Hollywood Week kicked off on Tuesday night (February 9) with a slew of new faces up on the stage and one new face behind the judges' table. Some singers soared (like Andrew Garcia with his soulful take on Paula Abdul's "Straight Up"), while others crashed and burned (like Vanessa Wolfe and her shaky version of Blind Melon's "No Rain"). Almost everyone could agree, though, that new judge Ellen DeGeneres rocked out on her "Idol" debut.
Count Kara DioGuardi as one of the enthusiastic supporters. "When I was sitting next to her, I felt she had a really good handle on whether a contestant had a potential, whether they had star quality," she said...

Making her "American Idol" debut on Tuesday, February 9 on the first round of Hollywood Week episode, Ellen DeGeneres showed that she is more than capable of being a judge on the singing competition show. The host of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", who was brought into the judging panel to replace Paula Abdul, didn't only bring jokes but also some honest critiques.
The 52-year-old got the chance to show that she won't hold back any harsh comments after Antonio "Skii Bo Ski" Wheeler covered The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud To Beg". "You frighten me," she said after the performance. "You were stalking us. You were like a leopard behind a cage." She added, "...seriously, don't frighten your audience - don't get so intense. Sexy and scary; it's a fine line."
The comedienne's candid words to Skii Bo Ski weren't the only ones she offered on the episode. She admitted to one contestant,...

A total of 95 people successfully went through in the first Hollywood Round on "American Idol". On Tuesday, February 9 night Ellen DeGeneres made her debut selecting those whom Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson and celebrity guest judges gave a second chance at the audition tour.
The 95 people chosen to enter the group round were selected from 181 hopefuls. They were grouped into eight and they got to choose to bring instrument or a capella. This bunch included Andrew Garcia, a father who wants to make a change for his son. Garcia brought a rendition of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" with his guitar and amazed everybody in the theater. Kara called it "genius", saying that Paula would be clapping and shouting when she heard that rendition. He went through along with worship pastor Tasha Leighton.
The fallen ones included Vanessa Wolfe who butchered her rendition of "No Rain" because she could not control her nerve.

Hollywood Week begins tonight on American Idol, and over the next two weeks, we'll see 181 Golden Ticket recipients whittled down to 24 semifinalists. There'll be tears. There'll be fights. There'll be Ellen DeGeneres in the Paula Abdul Memorial Chair! But before we get there, I'm going to count down the top 20 contestants from the last four weeks of auditions, and then ask you to vote for your fave in the handy poll that's embedded after the jump. Just Fyi, I had to leave off karaoke hostess Danelle Hayes, who reportedly ended up not going to Hollywood, and I took the liberty...

"So this is it," Ellen DeGeneres said, staring into fellow judge Simon Cowell's eyes as they sat down for the first day of Hollywood singing on Tuesday night's (February 9) "American Idol." "I come on, you leave."
And with that, that newest member of the "Idol" panel quickly made her mark on day one of work, immediately putting to rest weeks of chatter about Cowell's imminent leave-taking at the end of this season and establishing what seems like a good-natured, jokey tension between the two new co-workers.
DeGeneres tried to put the nervous singers at ease from the moment she first stepped onstage at Los Angeles' Kodak Theater, telling the 181 wannabes, "I don't know how you feel right now. ... When people say, 'What do you know about music?...

Before we move on to Hollywood Week, here's a look back at season nine's best and wackiest hopefuls so far.

Thousands of hopefuls. Hundreds of songs. Seven cities. Four excruciating weeks. A dude in a two-piece bikini. One pair of pants on the ground. On Wednesday, "American Idol" wrapped up the auditions for its ninth season, and judging by the numbers — or, really, any other quantifier — it was a pretty interesting ride.
From the news that Simon Cowell would be leaving the show at season's end, to the spate of celebrity judges lined up by show producers (Neil Patrick Harris, we love you), "Idol" generated more than a few headlines, and in the auditioners rolled out for our viewing, uncovered some genuine diamonds in the rough.
Of course, producers also shined a spotlight on some lumps of coal too (we're looking at you,...

We're headed into the final week of American Idol auditions -- how quickly they've sped by, yet how tedious they've gotten, no? -- but before we reconnect with Victoria Beckham in Denver tonight, let's take the temperature of where things stand with the Golden Ticket-getters from Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Orlando, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Check out my Top 20 countdown (hotlinks to all auditions included for those of you with faulty memories/lives outside the Idolverse), then vote for your favorite in the poll (after the jump).
