The last time TV audiences saw Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott – detective fiction’s reigning will-they-won’t-they king and queen – they were hugging outside a fancy perfume shop. The private investigators had solved Troubled Blood’s cold case, exposed a serial killer, and had time left over for some belated birthday shopping for the newly divorced Robin.
An almost-kiss between them turned into a heartfelt hug and Strike’s declaration that Robin was his best friend, leaving them still tantalisingly apart but ready for their next adventure.
That next adventure is now on its way, confirms Deadline and the BBC. Filming is currently underway on The Ink Black Heart, with Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger back in the lead roles, and Tom Edge back as the show’s screenwriter and creator.

It might be easy to think that "Peaky Blinders" is a rip-roaring gangster story, exploring the rise (and likely fall) of Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby as leader of the most fearsome collection of petty thieves and bloodthirsty criminals in early 1900s Birmingham. It certainly is that, to be sure, but that description doesn't quite manage to do justice to the collection of fascinating characters caught up in the wake of Tommy's ceaseless ambitions to grow his organization from the mud-soaked grime of horse racing to the upper echelons of political influence in Parliament. No, it'd probably be more accurate to call this popular (and recently concluded) show a family drama.
None know that better than Sophie Rundle, who has portrayed Tommy's sister Ada Thorne since the inaugural season. Initially wanting nothing to do with her brother's illegal activities or even the family name itself, Ada has since grown into...

The Wheel of Time has added a Wise One to its ranks: Ayoola Smart, whose previous TV credits include Killing Eve (as Kenny Stowton’s onetime flame Audrey), has joined Season 2 of the epic Prime Video adaptation in the recurring role of Aviendha.
An Aiel Maiden of the Spear, Aviendha in Wheel of Time lore is a Wise One of the Nine Valleys sept, and one of the three lovers that Rand al’Thor takes (though we of course will see if the TV series offers a new spin on the heroine).

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the series finale of Peaky Blinders…: Before it debuts on Netflix on June 10 in the U.S. and other markets, period gangster epic Peaky Blinders‘ sixth and final season concluded with a feature-length episode on BBC One in the UK tonight. Created by Steven Knight, who cautioned me before the finale to “expect the unexpected,” Peaky went out in top and twisty form with operatic and Godfather-esque flourishes. Since debuting in 2013, and gaining a rabid global fanbase, the Shelby family is meeting its end as a TV series, however, Knight has confirmed that a movie is going to happen — and given how the finale played out, there is still much to explore.
So, how did this iteration wrap things up for Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and the rest of the Birmingham crew? Throughout this season, we’ve been reminded of the words...

Warning: contains spoilers for Peaky Blinders season six episode 3 ‘Gold’.
Is this what it takes for Tommy Shelby to learn that he has limitations? What a cruel humbling. Cruellest of course, for Ruby – an innocent victim of being the daughter of “a character in a novel” – and for Lizzie. Natasha O’Keeffe was stunning in that final monologue, collapsed in grief and rage. The women of Peaky Blinders – Ada, Esme and Lizzie – stunned throughout this episode. Talk about gold.
Take Ada, for one. Clearly, Tommy should leave her in charge more often. Ever since she rolled a pram into the middle of the shoot-out between their gang and Billy Kimber’s and told the men to go ahead and fire but she and the baby were going nowhere, we’ve known that Sophie Rundle’s character had swagger, but we’ve never seen so much of it in one go. ‘Gold’ luxuriated in Ada Shelby,...

With the sixth and final season of period gangster epic Peaky Blinders currently enjoying a strong run in the UK, Netflix has set the premiere date for the rest of the world. All six episodes of Season 6 will launch on the streaming service at 12:01Am on June 10 in the U.S. and all markets where Netflix has the show’s rights.

UK sci-fi series Intergalactic will not be coming back for a second season at Sky, Gabriel Silver, Director of Commissioning for Drama, confirmed today.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV festival, the exec said the company had been “disappointed with audience figures” for the show, which broadcast on Sky One earlier this year.
Intergalactic follows a crew of female convicts who break free and go on the run. It stars Savannah Steyn, Eleanor Tomlinson and Natasha O’Keeffe.
Silver added that the show had turned out to be a “bigger risk than we anticipated”, noting the difficult in finding audiences for “English-accented sci-fis”.
Asked what his team at Sky was looking to commission, the exec said they remain open minded but are “quite well stocked on gangsters and drug dealers”.
On the gangster theme, during today’ session, Silver confirmed Deadline‘s scoop in February that the broadcast is teaming with Vertigo Films...

Sky One sci-fi Intergalactic is part conspiracy thriller, part prison break drama, and all space romp. It’s set 150 years in the future, when all of Earth’s nations have united into a single authority known as the Commonworld, and a new element has enabled Earth’s people to escape ecological collapse and colonise other planets via intergalactic travel. Over eight episodes, available to stream as a box-set on Now, we follow a group of female fugitives searching for freedom and uncovering long-buried lies.
The cast has been gathered from far and wide, ranging from relative newcomers to TV like Diany Samba-Bandza to more familiar faces Natasha O’Keeffe, Thomas Turgoose and Eleanor Tomlinson, and established actors Parminder Nagra, Craig Parkinson and Neil Maskell. Here’s who everybody is playing, and the major roles where you may have encountered them before.

This week marks the launch of new Sky Original series Intergalactic, and to mark the occasion we had the pleasure of speaking to several members of this illustrious ensemble. Below find interviews with Parminder Nagra (Bend it Like Beckham) and Craig Parkinson (Line of Duty), as well as Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Rogue One) and Oliver Coopersmith (Tin Star), before ending on Thomas Turgoose (This is England).
We discuss everything, ranging from the remarkable sets the actors worked on, to the costumes, and the characters they’ve been given. We talk about the film’s strong, empowering feminist approach, and why even though who turn up their nose to science-fiction, ought to give this one a go. We ask whether the actors were able to nab any memorabilia from the shoot, and we even chat to Parkinson about Line of Duty. Enjoy!

“Peaky Blinders” will conclude with the British period crime drama’s upcoming sixth season, which has just begun production in the U.K., the BBC announced Monday.
“‘Peaky’ is back and with a bang,” creator and writer Steven Knight said in a statement Monday. “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”
Representatives for BBC did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on what other “form” Knight was referring to.
Set in Birmingham, England, “Peaky Blinders” takes place after World War I and stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, a powerful member of the Shelby crime family.

Contains spoilers for Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil
The more incomprehensible and unsettling the real world gets, the more we welcome TV characters who make us feel safe. BBC One’s Cormoran Strike, a Cornish war veteran turned private investigator who operates out of a shabby Soho office, is reassurance personified. He’s a good man with sad eyes and a tragic past, the kind of TV detective you want to feed a shepherd’s pie and send away with a Tupperware full of leftovers.
Everything about Strike, from his smoking habit to his hidden pain and carbs-n-booze diet, is a throwback to a different age. It’s not just the scratched cine film of Strike’s opening credits that speaks of nostalgia for the past, it’s the character’s crumpled, masculine solidity. Strike may be a returnee from a 21st century war,...

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return to Sherlock for the 2015 Special. Here's a round-up of the Special news and rumours so far...

Filming on the 2015 Sherlock Special kicked off in Bristol on Monday the 5th of January. The Victorian vaulted cellars of music venue Colstan Hall are reported to be providing one backdrop for the episode.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were both snapped by trusty #setlock fans wearing the same period costume as in the preview image released by the BBC in November (see above).
Underneath that handsome top hat, Cumberbatch is sporting a shiny slicked-back hair do that, as does his costume, bears a strong resemblance to that worn by Jeremy Brett in the 80s-90s Granada Television Holmes series. Martin Freeman was also photographed in his David Burke-as-Watson-style brown suit and ‘tache (which, seeing how much the actor reputedly didn’t enjoy wearing his...

Peaky Blinders takes an uncharacteristic dip in quality for its fourth episode. Here's Tom's review...
This review contains spoilers.
Even the best of dramas is bound to have a mis-step every now and again, and while the fourth episode of Peaky Blinders is the weakest yet, there was still plenty to enjoy.
The driving force of the episode is the escalation of tension between the Peaky Blinders gang, and their growing number of adversaries - be it the Lee family, Freddy Thorne or Chief Inspector Campbell. At times, the way that the stakes increase works very well. At other times, not so much.
The development of the relationship between Tommy and Grace is handled well. Great writing by Steven Knight teases the viewer into thinking Tommy is aware of Grace's deception, only to twist in another direction and make us think he is oblivious to her wiles.

After five series, the launch of numerous careers in front of and behind the camera, and an identity so strong we'll still be talking about it long after DVD box-sets have been replaced by cerebro-retinal implants, E4's Misfits deserves a Viking funeral more than it does talk of having been "axed".
