Presented by Deadhouse Films, the 11th annual A Night of Horror International Film Festival and Fantastic Planet, Sydney Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival showcased a stunning array of the latest and greatest horror, sci-fi, thriller and fantasy films from around the globe.
At the conclusion of the festival, the winners of the 2017 A Night of Horror Film Festival and Fantastic Planet Film Festival were announced – and they include:
Norbet Keil’s gorgeously gruesome body horror Replace took A Night of Horror’s “Best Film” award. While Brazilian filmmaker Samuel Galli captured “Best Director” for his confronting serial killer / supernatural chiller Our Evil. Olivia Cooke is set to topline Courting Danger, the true story of tennis star turned spy Alice Marble.
When World War II broke out, Marble, a three-time tennis world champion at the time, defied the wishes of her longtime coach and left the sport in order to become an Allied spy, gathering intel on the Nazis that proved instrumental in the Nuremberg trials.
The feature will be adapted from Dale Leatherman's book Courting Danger: My Adventures in World Class Tennis, Golden Age Hollywood, and High Stakes Spying. Derek Weissbein will pen the screenplay.

Seventy-three unproduced screenplays comprise this year’s Black List, an annual ranking of well-regarded scripts that have yet to make the leap from page to screen. More than 250 executives in the film industry voted on this year’s edition, and their consensus is that Elyse Hollander’s Madonna biopic “Blond Ambition” is the “most liked” of them.
Previous screenplays that have appeared on the Black List and gone on to be produced include “Spotlight,” “Arrival” and “Manchester by the Sea.” Full list below:
