Migos rapper Quavo’s quest to transform his nephew Takeoff’s tragic shooting into a force for change convened with a summit against gun violence on what would have been the late rapper’s 30th birthday.
Quavo held the inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit at the Carter Center in Atlanta on Tuesday — the same day as Takeoff’s birthday. The music performer was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris in a fireside chat during the one-day summit, which included panel discussions about gun violence prevention and youth programs.
For Quavo, it’s been a rough road since Takeoff’s untimely death in 2022. But many of his family members — including his nephew’s mother — often encourage him to keep pushing forward.
“It’s super hard every day. I’m still crying. I’m still grieving. I’m still mourning,” said Quavo, who along with his family launched the Rocket Foundation in honor...

Last year, rapper Quavo and his family met with the Congressional Black Caucus to speak about the impact that gun violence has had on their lives. The Grammy-winning musician was still in the process of grieving the death of his fellow Migos member Takeoff, who was killed after being hit by a stray bullet in 2022, following an appearance in Houston.
Shortly after Takeoff’s death, Quavo and his family founded the Rocket Foundation, raising money for on-the-ground community initiatives working to curb gun violence. Their meeting with the CBC proved fruitful as,...

The White House in the past week has railed against so-called “cheap fakes,” videos edited to look as if President Joe Biden has “frozen” or was wandering away at major public events, while media outlets amplifying the moments have done little to add context.
The videos include one at a D-Day ceremony earlier this month, another at a Juneteenth ceremony last week and still another the G7 summit Thursday. The latest to go viral is a video at the end of Biden’s star-filled Los Angeles re-election fundraiser over the weekend.
As the moments have spread beyond RNC Research talking points to right-wing media figures and some mainstream outlets, White House and campaign officials have pushed back at the videos as edited, cropped or missing a larger context.

The video was shared online, sparking intense debate about whether Biden "froze" or was simply taking in the round of applause from the crowd.
This incident comes after Joe Biden was accused of freezing during the recent Juneteenth event held at the White House.

When the cast and creators of Queer Eye met with Vice President Kamala Harris in her ceremonial office on Thursday, there was very quickly a reminder that the show’s impact was far greater than style guidance.
Marking Pride Month, Harris called the series “groundbreaking” in that it raised the consciousness of the LGBTQ+ community.
She met with executive producers David Collins and Michael Williams, current cast members Karamo Brown and Jonathan Van Ness, and original cast members Carson Kressley and Jai Rodriguez. The show launched on Bravo in 2003 and then returned on Netflix in 2018.
Kressley said, “One of the most grateful things I have for that show is that so many young people come up to me today … and say, ‘Your show helped me come out because it allowed a safe dialog with my family to say, ‘Oh, he’s Ok’.”

Donald Trump rarely meets a microphone he doesn’t like, but today the usually volatile former president backed off being bumped off TV by Joe Biden.
More than ever this election year, it was a tale of two presidents on cable news this morning. From the G7 summit in Italy and the corridors of power in Washington D.C., respectively, Biden and Trump almost went head-to-head with competing press conferences. Almost.
“We’ll go to either of those live events, which ever one starts first,” said Fox News’ Sandra Smith as the Rupert Murdoch-owned outlet straddled the setups on screen for Biden and Trump’s potentially competing press conferences. “We set this up as a split screen because they were almost scheduled to speak at the exact same time,” Smith later added with no metaphorical irony.

One Afternoon In Late April, Vice President Kamala Harris climbed into a large black car parked in the garage of the CBS Broadcast Center on New York’s West 57th Street and sat bolt-upright in the leather seat. If there’s one celebrity who can single-handedly derail Donald Trump’s bid to return to the White House in 2024, it’s Taylor Swift. Perhaps aware of this, the former president struck an unusually conciliatory, albeit weirdly creepy tone towards the pop star in a recent interview with Variety editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.
Discussing Swift in a November 2023 interview, Trump said: “I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful… I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”

Having largely avoided commenting on politics throughout her career, Swift broke her silence in 2018 when she endorsed Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for the US Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives. Donald Trump is in his “Reputation” era.
The former president muses about pop princess Taylor Swift in a new book about his years as a reality star, “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” written by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.

At the outset of a roughly one-hour interview with Donald Trump, Dr. Phil McGraw said that he does not endorse candidates.
What was quickly apparent is that McGraw does endorse Trump’s claims that his felony conviction was unfair and orchestrated by Democrats.
“It’s such an honor to have someone like you see it, and see it so clearly,” Trump said to McGraw at one point during the Mar-a-Lago sit down.
McGraw didn’t just lob softballs, but offered statements of support, reinforcing the former president’s claims that the whole process was rigged. McGraw agreed with Trump that, given the setting in liberal New York and the actions of the judge, the burden of proof ultimately was not on the prosecution, but on the former president to prove himself innocent.
McGraw has been building out his network Merit Street Media, which is a partnership with Christian right outlet Trinity Broadcasting Network.
Elections are a special time at The Daily Show. When I joined the show in 1998, we were anticipating the 2000 election. Bush v. Gore would later be called “the most consequential election of our lifetime,” but for us, it was also the most important one in the short history of the show. It was Jon Stewart’s first election year as host and the kickoff to our “Indecision” coverage. It was also the first time we traveled our entire show to the conventions, sent our news team of hilarious correspondents to cover key states and races, and invited candidates from both parties to make their case — all of which defined what audiences have come to expect from The Daily Show. At the time, I was a production coordinator, where my first road trip duty was making sure the UPenn dorms we bunked didn’t smell like … well, what they smelled like.

Kamala Harris shared her reaction to Donald Trump’s guilty verdict during her Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records during his hush money trial. Kimmel asked the VP how she was informed of the former president being found guilty.
“Rapidly,” the VP responded, laughing. She then explained how thorough the legal process was for Trump to be held accountable.
“A jury of 12 people, over the course of six weeks, deliberated on the evidence and facts and unanimously determined guilt [with] 34 felony counts,” she said. “There was a defense attorney who actively participated in selecting that jury, who actively made decisions about witnesses to call, witnesses to cross-examine and the jury made their decision.”
“I think the reality is cheaters don’t like getting caught and being held accountable,” she continued. “The reality is, let’s just fast-forward to November.

Donald Trump said the quiet part out loud when he promised that, if he is reelected president in November, he’ll use the justice department to take down his enemies. And Jimmy Kimmel is not wrong to imagine that he might be near the very top of that list. So he used part of the 20 minutes he had to sit down with Vice President Kamala Harris Tuesday night to ask a very important question: should he be worried?
“Trump has made it pretty plain that he’s planning to go after his ‘enemies’ or whatever you want to call them,” Kimmel said. “Realistically, what can a president do to, umm, say a talk show host that has been making fun of him… What can he actually do to, like, oh, for example, me?”

Kamala Harris stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and took the opportunity to reflect on former president Donald Trump’s recent felony conviction. In a lengthy, broad-ranging interview, Harris acknowledged that she believes people should be held accountable for their crimes, regardless of who they are.

Vice President Kamala Harris had some biting words about Donald Trump on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight, making it a point to comment on his recent New York felony conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Like President Joe Biden, Harris has started to chime in on the state court case, after the administration and the campaign had said little as the six-week trial played out.
In studio in Hollywood, Harris told Kimmel, “A jury of 12 people, peers, over the course of six weeks, deliberated on the evidence and facts and unanimously determined guilt on 34 felony counts. Jimmy Kimmel has finally scored a meeting with the Vice President.
VP Kamala Harris is now scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, June 4.
She was initially slated to guest on Kimmel’s April 16th episode, but postponed the appearance days after it was announced, cutting her Los Angeles trip short for an undisclosed reason.
At the time, insiders said her interview would be rescheduled for a later date. (Harris’ next talk show appearance wound up being The Kelly Clarkson Show on April 29.)
Her appearance will come less than a week after yesterday’s conviction of former President Donald Trump on 34 felony charges related to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels. Last night, Kimmel had the distinction of being the only late-night host not on vacation the day the news broke.
Harris last appeared on a late-night show in March 2023 when she guested on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Vice President Kamala Harris is heading to late-night after all.
Harris was previously set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday April 16, but later canceled the appearance, although no reason was given at the time.
She will now appear on the ABC show on Tuesday June 4.
If she makes it this time, it would be her second appearance on the show, having previously appeared in March 2019 when she was running for top office.
Last year, Harris appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and in 2022 made her first late-night appearance since becoming VP on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she talked up her administration’s plans to fight climate change, restore abortion rights and pardon people with federal convictions for marijuana possession.

President Joe Biden pummeled Donald Trump’s long history of racism during a campaign rally on Wednesday in an effort to drum up support from Black voters.
Biden spoke alongside Vice President Kamala Harris and several other Black elected officials during the afternoon event at Girard College, a majority-minority boarding school in Philadelphia. The rally marked the launch of Black Voters for Biden-Harris, a campaign initiative to generate support among Black Americans.
Biden began his criticism by talking about Trump’s characterization of Jan. 6 insurrectionists as “patriots”’ whom he plans to pardon if reelected.

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign ridiculed Donald Trump on social media after he nearly fell onstage during a Minnesota rally.
“A feeble Trump nearly falls down on stage after he leans on his podium too hard and then goes on an angry rant calling his event workers’ crappy,'” Biden-[Kamala Harris] HQ wrote on X.
This post also included a video of Trump, at the Minnesota Republican Party’s annual Lincoln-Reagan Dinner in St. Paul, wobbling on the platform and blaming the contractor for putting it up poorly.
“You know, this is the worst platform,” the former president stated after almost tipping the podium over.
“Who put this stage up,” he then asked.
“The fricking place is falling down,” he stated jokingly. “It keeps tilting further left. Like too many other things. What a crappy contractor this was.”

After Trump Campaign Posts Video Referencing A ‘Unified Reich,’ Biden Blasts Use ‘Hitler’s Language’

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign deleted a video showing the words “unified Reich” from social media, which caused an uproar.
On May 20, Trump’s Truth Social account shared a 30-second campaign video that displayed a message about a “unified Reich” in America if he becomes president again this November.
The video, deleted from Truth Social and Instagram on Tuesday, had also been posted to the former president’s Instagram account.
It contained a series of headlines predicting “what happens after Donald Trump wins” and “what’s next for America,” with responses like, “Economy Booms!” and “15 Million Illegal Aliens Deported.”
The somewhat blurred text appeared beneath the headlines two times in the clip.
“Industrial strength significantly increased … driven by the creation of a unified Reich,” the text read.
The term “Reich” means “realm” or “empire,” which is often associated with Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich, which began in Nazi Germany...

If he could turn back time, there’s a good chance that he would. There’s heavy speculation on social media that Joe Biden apparently regrets not picking Michelle Obama to be his Vice President over Kamala Harris.
Because if he were to put Michelle Obama on the ticket, there’s no doubt that Joe Biden would be enjoying much more success and popularity today than he has with Kamala Harris.
That, and there’s a very good chance that he would gain the support and the votes that he needs in order to beat Donald Trump in November. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Did Joe Biden Make A Mistake With Michelle Obama?
Did Joe Biden make a mistake with Michelle Obama? That’s what many fans and critics alike want to know. Unfortunately for the president, he’s not doing very well in the polls right now.

On Tuesday, lawmakers in Louisiana voted 64-29 to reclassify drugs used in abortion as controlled dangerous substances. It’s a move staunchly protested by hundreds of physicians in the state, who fear passing this bill will interfere with patient care given how commonly one of the pills, misoprostol, is used to save lives in pregnancy care.
“Misoprostol is such a literal life-saver,” New Orleans Ob-gyn Dr. Nicole Freehill tells Rolling Stone. “It’s disappointing this bill is moving forward, but I am still hopeful the Senate and/or the governor...

Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to participate in a vice presidential debate this summer, to be hosted by CBS News.
Donald Trump’s campaign has not yet publicly accepted the invite, the network said.
The Biden campaign had proposed a vice presidential debate in late July, after Trump has chosen a running mate and after the Republican convention. According to CBS News, the Biden campaign has agreed to the vice presidential debate on July 23 or August 13.
Biden and Trump have agreed to two debates: One, on June 27, will be hosted by CNN. The other, on Sept. 10, will be hosted by ABC News.
On Wednesday, the Biden campaign said that it would not participate in the traditional general election debates, which have been scheduled for the fall and are organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Instead, the campaign said that it preferred a host TV network, one that had...

In speaking today at the annual Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Legislative Leadership Summit, Vice President Kamala Harris had some words of advice for those in the crowd: Don’t be timid.
Harris, the first female and first Black and Asian-American elected vice president, told the group, “So here’s the thing about breaking barriers. Breaking barriers does not mean that you start on one side of the barrier and end up on the other side. There’s breaking involved, and when you break things you get cut. And you may bleed, and it is worth it every time.”
She then gave a pep talk to young people of diverse backgrounds to “not be silent” in high profile meetings. “Your voice can be strong,” she said.
Then, to emphasize the point, she added, “We have to know that sometimes people will open the door for you and leave it open,...

Maya Rudolph opened the Mother’s Day episode of “Saturday Night Live” with a tribute to mothers — in every sense of the term.
Hosting the sketch show’s penultimate episode of the season, Rudolph began her monologue by noting she’s a four-time mom herself. “But Maya, look — you’re not just a mom,” cast member Bowen Yang reminded her. “You’re mother,” invoking the term’s use in queer slang to describe powerful, aspirational women. “You were the first to slay the house down boots, queen!”
“Who me, mother?” Rudolph asked, feigning shock. “You’re right!” The host then launched into a propulsive dance number, strutting through Studio 8H — also known as “House of Rockefeller” — in a reflective bodysuit while delivering lyrics like “Oops, I made you dance / Remember in that movie when I pooped my pants?” Other lines played on the many meanings of “mother”: “Who’s...

While Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently called requiring automatic refunds for canceled flights a “dumb idea,” his fellow senators disagree. Lawmakers are moving to strengthen their aviation reauthorization bill after Cruz and three other lawmakers were slammed for attempting to undermine President Joe Biden’s new airline regulations.
Last week, The Lever reported that Cruz, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.), and Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.) — who have all been bankrolled by the airline industry — introduced a new Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization deal that would require customers...

As Neil Young once sang, the now shuttered Participant is gone, but not forgotten.
Some of Tinseltown’s leading talents like Regina King, George Clooney, Ava DuVernay, Daniel Dae Kim, Martin Sheen, Regina King, Alfonso Cuaron, Matt Damon, Diego Luna and more have joined up with the National Domestic Workers Alliance to express “gratitude and pride” in the work put out by the Jeff Skoll-created shingle over the last two decades. At the same time, the A-Listers are imploring the ever increasingly conglomerated industry to keep their eyes on the social impact prize.
“As we say goodbye to Participant, we must underscore that values-based storytelling is needed now more than ever; to expand the room for debate, to open our hearts to experiences vastly different from our own, to immerse us in the beauty of humanity’s complexities,” the star-studded letter says. “And in the face of unprecedented change and uncertainty,...

Espresso martinis, anyone? ? On Thursday, Saturday Night Live announced the guests for the last two episodes of Season 49: Maya Rudolph will take on hosting duties with a performance from Vampire Weekend on May 11, while Sabrina Carpenter will perform on May 18 with Jake Gyllenhaal hosting.
“Sabrina Night Live ,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram sharing the news.
As many Swifties noticed about the May 18 SNL, there’s a Taylor Swift-tinged invisible string tying Gyllenhaal to Carpenter. The Brokeback Mountain actor dated Swift, whom Carpenter opened for on the Eras Tour over the last several months.

Meghan McCain is not a fan of Drew Barrymore’s interviewing style and shared her thoughts about the viral interview with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
On the podcast Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat, the former View co-host reacted to the viral Drew Barrymore Show interview, in which the titular host had the VP as a guest.
McCain said that watching Barrymore interview Harris got her “blood boiling” criticizing the proximity of the host and the vice president.
“I know that’s like Drew Barrymore’s thing but I think someone needs to talk to her, like, not everything is a therapy session and some of this stuff is not appropriate,” McCain said.
The political commentator recalled Barrymore interviewing Oprah Winfrey, where the host was seen “grabbing her hands.” McCain added, “These are people who deserve respect in all ways, including physically respecting their space.”

All’s fair in Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian‘s long-time feud, or so Bianca Censori allegedly says. While Kim would love Taylor Swift to move on after “thanK you aIMee,” Bianca’s all for a little girls spat. Plus she likes listening to Taylor Swift.

Hollywood stars, journalists and prominent politicians were met with a crowd of protesters of the Israel-Hamas war outside Saturday’s White House Correspondents Dinner.
There has been growing public discord over the war and President Joe Biden’s handling of the conflict, as well as mainstream media’s coverage of it.
This year’s event at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. — where the dinner has been held for decades — is headlined by Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost, with several stars also in attendance, including Chris Pine, Molly Ringwald, Questlove and Rachel Brosnahan. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are also at the dinner.
However, attendees were greeted by demonstrators holding banners and chanting “Free, free Palestine” and calls for a “ceasefire” as they arrived, according to videos posted on social media. At one point, protesters also dropped a Palestinian flag out of one of the Washington Hilton’s windows.
