Michael B. Jordan’s “Creed III” is now playing in theaters, which means a lot of moviegoers may find themselves asking the same question: Where the hell is Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa?
Stallone starred opposite Jordan in “Creed” and “Creed II,” even earning an Oscar nomination for supporting actor thanks to his role in the 2015 first installment. But Stallone is entirely absent from “Creed III.” While Rocky’s name gets name-dropped a couple times in the script, his whereabouts are never explained.
Stallone’s absence in “Creed III” marks the first time in nine films and 47 years that a movie in the “Rocky” film franchise does not feature Rocky Balboa. The reason behind Stallone’s departure is twofold: He wasn’t the biggest fan of “Creed III’s” creative direction, and his clash against longtime franchise producer Irwin Winkler remains ongoing.

Matthew Perry wants to be "17 Again" again. The "Friends" and "Go On" actor went on SiriusXM's Pop Culture Spotlight with Jessica Shaw this week to talk about his new book. In the memoir, titled "Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing," Perry mentions projects he has in the works, and Shaw asked him for some specifics about his unproduced film ideas. Perry then spilled the news that he wrote a script for a rom-com that he'd hoped would land a lead in Zac Efron. The film isn't related to the 2009 fantasy romance the pair starred in together, but would mark an on-screen reunion for the two, as Perry wrote himself a small role as well.
"I finished a screenplay that we're out with to some people. I want to direct that," Perry said on the podcast. "I have a small part in it. I wrote it for myself,...

Zac Efron turned down the opportunity to play Matthew Perry again, the Friends actor revealed.
Efron and Perry co-starred in the 2009 movie 17 Again, in which the fictional 37-year-old Mike O'Donnell (Perry) is transformed back into his 17-year-old self (Efron) after expressing his regrets in life.
While promoting his new memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, on SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight With Jessica Shaw, Perry revealed that he is currently shopping around the screenplay for a rom-com he’s written.
Perry said that he wrote the lead role for himself only to realise that he was 20 years too old for the part.
Asked who his “dream younger version” of himself was by host Shaw, Perry replied: “Well, it was Zac Efron. But he said no. So, we’ve got to find someone who says yes.”
As for the female lead, Perry said that The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza “almost did it.

It's been just over a decade since the female-led comedy "Bridesmaids" dropped in theaters. In that film, we follow Annie (Kristen Wiig), a single woman who is low-key the personification of a dumpster fire. She's barely holding it together when she learns that her lifelong best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) is engaged and she is asked to be the maid of honor. While she realistically can't afford to take on this role, Annie still tries so she doesn't ruin anything for Lillian. Her efforts, though, lead her, Lillian, and the other bridesmaids through a wild roller coaster, and force Annie to wake up about how she's been handling life.
Written by Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig, this film surprised and delighted comedy fans with its notable cast and still serves today as a discussion topic surrounding women in comedy. The men of the film aren't entirely resting on their laurels,...

In a recent interview with SiriusXM's Jessica Shaw, the 25-year-old star opened up about attending bartending school and later doing a few shifts at a London bar. "Eventually, I sort of got kicked out."
Holland also shared that he's been back to the bar since then before joking that "it's a little bit of a rocky relationship at the minute." He concluded: "I've been giving them a lot of press though. So they just shut up and let me back.

As omicron begins to fade, and Americans shake off the coronavirus winter blues, advertisers are returning to the Super Bowl with big, bold campaigns. This year’s soundtrack veers from 2021’s tonal themes — muted, soulful or comforting — offering uplifting, and even humorous, usages.
For this weekend’s Super Bowl Lvi, some advertisers chose iconic songs for their instant recognition factor, or for their irony, or because the tune aligned well with the products they’re selling. But most music publishers agree that this year marked a return to normal in the space, with more upbeat songs requested by brands as the nation seeks to turn the page on a waning pandemic.
“Brands are back spending on music to enhance their commercials and pricing was very healthy this year — up from prior years,” says Brian Monaco, president and global chief marketing officer at Sony Music Publishing. “The majority of our licenses [this year] were for catalog,...

Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal has a number of ideas for a cast reunion, but finding a home for the special has been harder than expected.
“Here’s what I really can’t believe. I’ve pitched to now a couple of different places,” Rosenthal said on SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight with Jessica Shaw. “We can do a reunion special, we can tell the stories of the things that have happened to us at home…and it seemed to work for Friends and, no takers.”
Everybody Loves Raymond, which ran from 1996 to 2005, follows the family life sportswriter Ray Barone (Ray Romano). The series also featured Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle.
When Shaw responded that she also could not believe Rosenthal’s difficulty in finding a studio to house the special, the showrunner expressed some optimism: “Maybe someone will hear this and say, ‘Hey, this seems like a no brainer.

For a few days last October, ongoing Covid-19 complications made it seem like Super Bowl Lv might not take place as planned this Sunday — or lead commercial music supervisors to take on a more somber tone harkening back to the early-quarantine days where seemingly every commercial featured morose piano music.
However, the NFL’s successful bubble strategy kept players safe into the winter, which inspired confidence in the ad marketplace: CBS sold out of inventory for the big game earlier this week, selling commercials at an average fee of $5.5 million per 30 seconds. So this weekend’s Super Bowl ads will be largely business-as-usual, with a few tech brands stepping up to fill the vacancies of stalwarts like Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and a quintet of automakers. An air of optimism will be reflected in the music, too, with a mix of well-known catalog hits and familiar faces set to appear in many spots.

Peter Sarsgaard is lifting the veil just a teeny, tiny bit on The Batman.
The actor participated in a interview Thursday with SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw, and among the topics discussed was his role in the upcoming Warner Bros. film and the feeling on the set for the Matt Reeves-directed picture.

Julianna Margulies is elaborating further on her dispute with CBS over why she didn’t reprise her The Good Wife character in CBS All Access’ spinoff The Good Fight.
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw, Margulies said she’d return now for the spinoff if they would pay her fee to appear. “If they were to ask me to go back on The Good Fight, paying me what my salary is, of course [I would], in a heartbeat,” she said. “But you have to value your worth.”
Margulies also added that she’s happy to work with CBS and is currently developing a project with the network, a pilot about journalists.
Margulies has said she was offered a guest-star rate for The Good Fight, rather than the higher fee she earned on The Good Wife.
“I’m not a guest star,” she said. “You don’t pay me a guest-star salary.

“We live now in a world where equal pay is a very important platform for all of us women who do everything in high heels and backwards to what men do,” she told SiriusXM host Jessica Shaw while promoting her new National Geographic show “The Hot Zone.” The interview will air Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Et on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding — and that includes revealing some characters are gay.
Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo spoke about the revelation on EW Morning Live suggesting that the character is one that fans already know.
The news arose when hosts Dalton Ross and Jessica Shaw asked Joe about his cameo as a grieving gay man in a therapy session including Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.
“It was an integral scene to show how the world was reacting to what happened at the end of Infinity War,” Joe said.

David Tennant was among the millions who caught Jodie Whittaker’s first full Doctor Who episode last night, and apparently being an ex-Doctor and knowing the behind-the-cameras tricks didn’t provide any emotional distance.
“It’s very exciting,” Tennant tells SiriusXM hosts Jessica Shaw and Dalton Ross (listen above). “It’s very exciting as a fan, as someone who grew up watching Doctor Who.” Five minutes into the episode, Tenant said, he’d all but forgotten his friendships with Whittaker and exec producer Chris Chibnall and must got caught up in the fun of the show.
Tennant was at New York Comic Con over the weekend, and though he laments the fact that he can’t wander around unnoticed, he sees the annual NYC gathering as a victory of sorts.
“I grew up as a fan of comic books,” he says, adding, “this is the victory, the geek has inherited the earth.

Kristen Bell is psyched for the “Veronica Mars” revival and she knows you are too. However, she does want to prepare for you for Neptune’s No. 1 detective’s return, as the eight-episode run order by Hulu is apparently going to be “different” from the show that ran on UPN and then The CW.
“It’s gonna be a much darker world,” Bell said when appeared on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio Thursday. “It’s going to be a bigger world. It’s definitely not going to be what we did on UPN or The CW. So I want to brace fans for that, that it’s going to be darker and bigger and more cinematic and definitely a little bit different.”
But don’t you worry Marshmallows! Veronica is still the “superhero without a cape” who the “Good Place” star thinks you need now more than ever.
“And particularly now I feel like you want to see a girl who is fighting for good,” Bell said. “You want to see a superhero without a cape who has nothing at her fingertips but her wit, and her intellect, and you want to see her better the world around her. I think people want to see a hero again. We had years of loving antiheroes and I think the world is too scary now. You know, we loved [‘Breaking Bad’s] Walter White when everything felt safer. It would scare me to watch a show about an antihero now. I want to see the good guys winning.”
Bell also explains why she wouldn’t ever stop playing Veronica, “until literally everyone in Neptune is dead.”

In an interview with Sirius Xm’s Jessica Shaw posted to YouTube Monday, Jeffrey Tambor addressed his firing from “Transparent,” as well as his return to “Arrested Development.”
“I sent an email around and said apologies to these people I love so much for the distraction,” Tambor said, referencing his “Arrested Development” cast mates. “‘You’ll be asked questions,’ and things like that.”
The actor, who received multiple accolades for portraying Maura Pfefferman, a transgender character on the Amazon comedy, came under fire in November after his former assistant, Van Barnes, accused him of sexually harassing her. After an investigation into the allegations by Amazon, Tambor officially left the series in February.
“I’m no longer playing Maura — I’m going to miss her very much,” Tambor said. “I’m going to miss that cast that I love so much, and I wish them all the best.”
