House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel series that debuted on HBO and Max in 2022 and is returning soon, focuses on House Targaryen, generations before the events of the original Game of Thrones series.
They are, of course, the ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), one of the main characters on Game of Thrones, whose series-long plot was about wanting to recapture her family's throne.
While House of the Dragon focuses on that particular family, we did get occasional glimpses of other familiar houses in the first season of that show, including the Baratheons. Also, there are fleeting mentions of Houses such as Arryn and Stark.
While the members of House Stark were among the most important characters throughout Game of Thrones, none of the Starks were major characters In the first season of House of the Dragon.
However, it appears that it is about to change.

“It’s so important that women like this are not forgotten from history,” declares Maisie Williams about her role as unsung hero Catherine Dior in the Apple TV+ prestige drama “The New Look.” Catherine was best known as a French Resistance fighter during World War II and who is often attributed as her brother Christian’s muse and inspiration for his iconic Miss Dior perfume that he launched in 1947.
For our recent webchat she adds, “if we’re going look at Catherine being one of the original muses of the Dior fashion house, you really have to understand how it is that she inspired Christian. And in order to do that, you have to really understand her life,” she explains. “I feel really grateful that more people are going to learn about her because she’s not someone that we think about when we think of the history of fashion.

The early 2010s are often hailed as a modern golden age of television where TV episodic content was constantly reaching new heights of cinematic brilliance. One of the vanguards of this movement was undoubtedly Game of Thrones, which became one of the most watched and critically acclaimed shows throughout its eight seasons.
But despite the craze surrounding the series, not every part of its epic saga was well-received. Today marks the fifth anniversary of one of the most controversial episodes of Game of Thrones in its eighth and final season, titled “The Long Night.” Naturally, fans took to social media to mark the occasion and express their support and/or poke fun at the ways in which the episode fell short of expectations.

Apple TV’s “The New Look” tells the story of Christian Dior (Emmy champ Ben Mendelsohn) as he struggles to create a new fashion line in Paris soon after the end of World War II. He comes into conflict with the legendary designer Coco Chanel (Oscar winner Juliette Binoche). This sumptuous costume drama spares no expense and showcases these two award-winning actors.
Critics have embraced the show, too, with Angie Han (The Hollywood Reporter) calling it “handsome and heartbreaking.” Among the others giving it rave reviews:
Joyce Slaton (Common Sense Media) observed: “‘The New Look’ is a powerful and complex look at what terror and oppression does to people both ordinary and extraordinary alike; not an easy watch, but a great one.”
Matthew Gilbert (Boston Globe) noted: “‘The New Look’ is a fine addition to the recent group of World War II dramas set mostly outside of battle, including the...

The final two seasons of the hit HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones" left fans pretty divided, with some who still loved the show in all its weird glory and others who felt as if many of the characters were let down by the series' writing. While the quality of those later seasons is the source of much contention, one thing is tough to argue: the battles of the final two seasons are pretty darn great. Sure, they're no Battle of the Blackwater or Battle of the Bastards but there are some monumentally cool moments in some of those later battles, especially the Battle of the Frozen Lake in the season 7 episode "Beyond the Wall." According to one of the show's directors, some of those moments were actually improvised right there on the spot. One of the most intense moments in the whole battle, in which fan favorite Tormund Giantsbane...

A film chronicling the relationship between Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne is in the works.
A biopic about Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne is still in the works.
The as-yet-untitled film was formally announced in October 2021, when it was confirmed that both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s music will feature.
Sony Pictures and Polygram are behind the project, which will focus on a twenty year period between 1979 and 1999. Lee Hall, who won huge acclaim for his screenplay for Elton John biopic Rocketman in 2018, will write the script.
Sharon and Jack Osbourne revealed the update on their podcast The Osbournes (as picked up by Planet Rock), where Ozzy, in typically unabashed style, commented on the slow progress of the film, saying “By the time it’s eventually filmed, I’ll be dead! I wanna be alive to f—ing see it”.

Best Drama Supporting Actress is the only Emmy acting category “The Morning Show” has yet to crack, but it’s now the one the series could dominate like only one other show has managed to. Nicole Beharie, Greta Lee, Julianna Margulies, Karen Pittman and Holland Taylor are all eligible for the Apple TV+ drama in the category this year, and if they all make the cut, “The Morning Show” will join “The White Lotus: Sicily” as the only shows to nab five drama supporting actress nominations in a single year.
“The White Lotus: Sicily” set the record last year with bids for Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza, Simona Tabasco and eventual champ Jennifer Coolidge. Before that, the record for a series in the category was four nominees in one year, which only two shows had been able to field: “Game of Thrones” in 2019 and “The Handmaid’s Tale” in 2021.

Game of Thrones is one of the top-rated and most popular television shows of all time. It had all the elements of a perfect fantasy drama – from bloodshed to a gripping storyline, and it all came with an extra amount of saucy scenes. Nick Cave has released a cover of Édith Piaf’s 1940s hit “La Vie En Rose,” which appears on Jack Antonoff’s soundtrack for the Apple TV+ series The New Look. Stream it below.
On the Antonoff-produced piano cover, Cave takes on the French singer’s signature track in English, giving it a new dimension as he delivers the tender ballad in his distinct voice: “When you speak, angels sing from above/ Everyday words, they turn into love songs.”
Cave’s version of “La Vie En Rose” follows Lana Del Rey’s take on Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies,” Florence + The Machine’s cover of “White Cliffs of Dover,” and The 1975’s rendition of “Now Is the Hour.”
You can catch the first five episodes of The New Look now. Filmed in Paris, the series centers around Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and their contemporaries as they launch modern fashion after World War II.

Winter’s cold edge remained strong in the City of Lights. However, that didn’t stop hundreds from turning up at the Dior Fall Winter 2024 women’s ready-to-wear show Tuesday in Paris to see celebrities and the who’s who of fashion enter an enormous white box-like edifice situated right in the middle of Jardin des Tuileries.
As guests entered into the building, the first thing they encountered was bamboo cascading around the room forming a square shape, and also crisscrossing from the ceiling, as well as bamboo figures set in the middle of the room. The installation was devised by Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni, but dreamt up by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the house’s haute couture and women’s ready-to-wear creative director. Before the lights were turned down low, fanfare surrounded actors Jennifer Lawrence (wearing a deep v-neck waistcoat) and Anya Taylor-Joy as they sat together. While Maisie Williams,...

Game of Thrones Season 8 ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Game of Thrones had everyone’s attention when it used to stream. The fantasy period drama was full of twists and turns that would startle you in every episode. The series stars Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and others based on George Rr Martin’s book, A Song of Fire and Ice.
The eighth season left everyone disappointed. The loyal fans were displeased with the conclusions given to Daenerys, Jon Snow, Arya and Bran Stark. The show’s creators, David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, have opened up on what exactly went wrong.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Benioff stated that when one signs a five-year deal with a company, one wants the company to be stable. It will help one be alone and do their work without worrying about it being bought by a phone company.

You know what they say: Time flies when you’re trying to solve a supernatural-tinged murder mystery in perpetual darkness while simultaneously struggling with the unbearable weight of personal trauma. Or, something like that.
As unbelievable as it may seem, we’ve reached the end of the road with “True Detective: Night Country.” The show, which comes to a close Sunday at 9/8c, successfully revived the flagging HBO anthology by turning the concept on its head (and seemingly taking a few cues from fellow HBO limited series “Mare of Easttown”). In the finale, “Part 6,” a brutal winter storm forces Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Navarro (Kali Reis) to shelter at the Tsalal research station, where they begin to piece together what happened to Annie and to the scientists, all while facing down their own personal demons. Fashion fans are sure to be scrutinizing every detail of The New Look, the 10-episode Apple TV+ series that tells the story of Christian Dior (played by Ben Mendelsohn) launching his eponymous Paris label with the now-legendary 1947 New Look collection that inspired the production’s title.
It’s among the reasons both creator Todd A. Kessler (Damages, Bloodline) and costume designer Karen Serreau (The Serpent Queen) knew they had to approach Dior’s seminal post-World War II designs with an unrelenting attention to detail. In other words, the participation of the brand that Dior built was essential.
“Dior was very generous in opening up its archives to us,” Serreau tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The way Todd has crafted the story, early on we see Christian talking to an audience at the Sorbonne in 1955, with a runway showing of several designs, and then of course later we see the debut showing of the 1947 collection.

The New Look cast and creatives are giving viewers a glimpse behind the curtain timed to the series premiere on Apple TV+ as they sat down to discuss their complex characters in TV Insider’s 2024 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour Studio. The series follows how the fashion icon Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) and his fellow designers such as Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) navigate the horrors of World War II and how they launch modern fashion. Joining them in the series are Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior and John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong. Together the stars and series creator Todd A. Kessler and fellow executive producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura help shine a light on the stories at the center of this tale through specific quotes and lines. (Credit: Apple TV+) Regarding the line, “Creation is survival,” Mendelsohn says that his character is “in a terrible life situation, and the only...

At the top of Episode 1 of Apple’s “The New Look,” a title card flashes some weighty words: “This is the story of how creation helped return spirit and life to the world.”
But Todd A. Kessler’s drama series is barely that. “The New Look” is largely insular, despite taking place during a turbulent era that still affects millions around the world, centering figures who certainly left their marks on culture and history — but the vague thesis statement sounds like just that; the kind of sweeping, half-formed idea that a high school student might retroactively tack on to the introduction of an essay.
“The New Look” is the concurrently told story of two fashion icons forged in the traumatic depths of World War II — concurrent, but not parallel — Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) and Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche). The series begins in 1955, when Chanel returned to Paris after years spent...

Review: Fashion design has found great success as fodder for reality series and romantic comedies. Films like The Devil Wears Prada, Robert Altman’s Pret-a-Porter, and Ryan Murphy’s limited series Halston have looked at the intricacies of the fashion world, mostly from a contemporary standpoint. The new AppleTV+ series The New Look is designed as the start of an anthology series by looking at the tumultuous period after World War II when French fashion icons Christian Dior and Coco Chanel reinvented what we consider haute couture. With a stellar cast led by Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche, The New Look should have been an instant frontrunner for series of the year. Instead,...
