- His original influences include Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. At a young age, Sputzy felt their albums were more important that his vocal training, he would take money given him by his parents for voice lessons, and buy the latest albums by these artists. Along with God given talent, these early influences helped to develop his rich vocal style laden with soulful emotion.
- He has performed the national anthem before Penguins, Steelers and Pirates games, and has opened for a long list of music industry legends including The Four Tops, James Brown, Chicago, Chuck Berry, The Turtles, Blood Sweat & Tears.
- Sputzy has two daughters that are musically involved just like him, Deveney Kowalski (b. March 24, 1991) and Sarah Sparacino (b. December 6, 1994). They both sing and play guitar.
- He also plays keyboards.
- Sputzy has been living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, since 1980. And is performing with both his now popular Dance/Cover bands Sputzy & The Soul Providers and Sputzy & Jeremy. (1980)
