Jordan Peele is undoubtedly one of the most talented and important filmmakers of today. Although he was initially known as a comedian because of his Key & Peele series, he has since evolved into a complex and versatile filmmaker who is able to blend horror with strong social commentary. Get Out, Us, and Nope are the movies he directed, but he also produced several other major hits and also worked on the short-lived revival of The Twilight Zone. Now, while we do know that Peele himself is working on a new movie, while we’re waiting for more updates on that movie, we have more information about his next project, a movie he is producing!
The movie we are talking about is going to be directed by Justin Tipping, who has some experience with movies and television, with his most important works being Kicks (2016), Flatbush Misdemeanors (2021), and Joe vs. Carole...

The Black List revealed its annual list of the best unproduced screenplays on Monday, honoring 74 feature film screenplays by a total of 80 writers that have spent the year circulating through Hollywood. Scripts were voted on by a jury of over 300 top film executives.
“It is absolutely staggering that this is my 18th December asking people about their favorite unproduced screenplays, but the success of Black List scripts and the writers we’ve spotlit speaks for itself, I think,” Black List founder Franklin Leonard said in a statement. “However unacknowledged, the life blood of this industry has always been great stories well-told, and that begins with great writers writing. No one can do anything else until they do what they do. It remains an absolute nerdy joy to build a metal detector that finds needles in a near infinite field of haystacks and to serve those folks who do exceptional work.

Exclusive: Following a competitive bidding war, Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has landed the film pitch Goat, with Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie penning the script. The pitch will fall under Monkeypaw’s overall deal with Universal Pictures.
Though the title hints at something revolving around everyone’s favorite farm animal, it is actually in reference to the sports acronym “Greatest Of All Time,” aka Goat, which is thrown around when debating today and yesterday’s sports legends. For this film, the story centers on a promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.
The pitch goes into Monkeypaw’s diverse slate of projects as the company continues to stay busy. Next up on features side is Peele’s film Nope, which marks his next directing gig and is already building buzz following the final trailer release today. That comes out July 22 with Universal.

For this film, the story centers on a promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.

Exclusive: Studiocanal and The Picture Company have entered into a new multi-year pact with the aim to make two-three films a year along with an infiltration into TV by Picture Company Co-Founders Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman.
The producers combined have made some of Studiocanal’s most successful films including the Liam Neeson thriller vehicles Unknown, Non-Stop and The Commuter, and they just released the Netflix action breakout Gunpowder Milkshake,. The films were all mid-level budget actioners that became profitable global hits for the studio. They’ll keep making those films for the Canal Plus library and Studiocanal’s streaming service output deals, but under the new deal, Rona and Heineman will lean into European theatrical co-productions and television for global audiences.
Studiocanal and the producers are in the early stages of a sequel on Navot Papushado’s Karen Gillan starrer, Gunpowder Milkshake, which was the number one streaming title overall...

Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie successfully translated their popular podcast into a suspenseful and evocative TV series on Facebook Watch.
Maybe it was the timing of Limetown as a podcast, coming out a year after Serial made the audio medium a commodity, that made it a viral success in 2015 in addition to the compelling nature of the story, but it was undoubtedly that strong narrative that helped the sci-fi mystery make the transition to television so successfully. Season one of the adaptation recently wrapped up on Facebook Watch with millions of views per episode and plenty of rabid fans begging for more, and we took the opportunity on The Fourth Wall podcast to ask creators Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie what made the show a hit in both formats.

“Can someone disappear when they’re already gone?”
Lia Haddock, intrepid reporter and main character of Limetown (played by Jessica Biel), asks this question in a sound byte that plays over her daily routine. She’s talking about her uncle Emile (Stanley Tucci) who vanished along with everyone else who lived in the eponymous town’s city limits, but for a moment there, we think she’s talking about herself. Lia’s life looks empty and feels emotionally strained, like there is a deep unrest within her that will never be calmed because she doesn’t want it to be.
We’re told she never got over the disappearance of Emile, that he’s her Samantha Mulder. We believe the show — to a point. But it seems as though Lia...

“Limetown,” the podcast from creators Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, was a runaway hit when it debuted in 2015 largely due to its use of format. Four years later, its creators are teaming up with Jessica Biel and Facebook, hoping “Limetown” can make a similar mark on screen.
Premiering at the height of the post-“Serial” true crime podcast boom, the audio version of “Limetown” borrowed the genre’s most distinctive trademarks to tell a fictional story about 300 people who disappeared from a shady Tennessee research facility without so much as a note. Framed as a radio series, the story was told through the voice of Lia Haddock, a journalist for the fictional American Public Radio whose uncle Emile Haddock was one of those who went missing.

The actress stars as Lia Haddock in Facebook Watch's upcoming adaptation of the acclaimed podcast Limetown, which follows the radio journalist as she investigates the mass disappearance of an entire Tennessee neuroscience research community.
As Lia dives deeper into the secrets surrounding the case, she realizes that she's put her life in grave danger, as well as the lives of everyone she loves. But Lia is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery and, from what we see in the trailer, she's not afraid to fight back.

“Limetown” is about as meta on the persistent true crime phenomenon as it gets. The new Facebook Watch drama, based on Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie’s 2015 scripted podcast, follows a radio reporter who’s chasing down an unsolved mystery, recording what’s essentially a podcast all the while. Now, the podcast within a podcast has become a podcast within a TV show based on a podcast — a dizzying trajectory, but one that nonetheless appears to suit “Limetown” well.
The key difference between “Limetown” and “Serial,” however, is that Lia Haddock (executive producer Jessica Biel) isn’t trying to dig into a story she believes may be misunderstood, but one that no one has ever understood. Both the podcast and show open 15 years after the residents of Limetown, an entire makeshift community of scientists and researchers, vanished without a trace. Exclusive: The Fosters alumna Sherri Saum is set for a major recurring role opposite Jessica Biel in Limetown, Facebook Watch’s 10-episode series based on the popular podcast, from Endeavor Content and Midnight Radio.

Saum will play Gina, the head of programming at Apr Studios and Lia’s boss. The character is described as sophisticated, intimidating, a journalists’ journalist. A workhorse who knows the value of a great story.

Stanley Tucci and Marlee Matlin will join Jessica Biel in the cast of Facebook Watch's Limetown.
Facebook Watch is rounding out the cast of its upcoming podcast adaptation, Limetown.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the social-network-turned-content-creator (aren't they all?) is bringing in Stanley Tucci and Marlee Matlin to join the already announced Jessica Biel as part of Limetown's cast. Kelly Jenrette (The Handmaid's Tale), Louis Ferreira (Travelers), and John Beasley (Everwood) will fill out the cast as well.
Tucci is best known for...well, a lot of things. The versatile character actor has appeared in films such as Capain America: The First Avenger, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Hunger Games. In recent years he's become a more consistent television presence, popping up in Feud and BoJack Horseman.

Facebook has nabbed a compelling project for its fledgling video hub, Watch.
The social network has tapped actress Jessica Biel to star in a 10-episode series inspired by the hit fictional podcast Limetown. Limetown, which bowed in 2015 amid a podcast renaissance set off by Serial, tells the story of a public radio journalist, who to be played by Biel, who is investigating the disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research facility in Tennessee. The first season of Limetown clocked more than 10 million downloads and at the height of its popularity ascended to No. 1 on Apple’s podcast charts.
In addition to starring in the Endeavor Content-produced show, Biel -- a Golden Globe and Emmy nominee for her work in the limited USA series The Sinner -- will executive produce via her Iron Ocean Productions, alongside Michelle Purple. Limetown writers Zack Akers and Skio Bronie will write the TV series and also executive produce.
