Peter Brunner, born in 1983, is a filmmaker and musician (Cardiochaos) based in Vienna. As the son of a psychoanalyst and a painting therapist, he was a former student of Michael Haneke at the Vienna Film Academy. His debut feature film, "My Blind Heart," premiered at Park City (Slamdance) and in the Tiger Competition at IFF Rotterdam in 2014, receiving multiple awards at international film festivals, including a nomination for the Golden Frog at the Camerimage Film Festival. His second feature film, "Those Who Fall Have Wings," won the Special Jury Prize at the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2015. Brunner made his English-language debut with "To the Night" (2018), starring Caleb Landry Jones, which was described as "a psychological acid trip of a movie" by THR and premiered in competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In 2021, his latest feature film, "Luzifer," starring Franz Rogowski, premiered in competition at Locarno and won the critics' prize.
