The wait for Community the Movie is going to be even longer.
The follow-up movie, which for a time seemed almost mythical but was greenlit last fall by Peacock, was to start filming in June. But like so many things, production is on hold due to the Writers Guild strike.

Dan Harmon's "Community" is one of the best network sitcoms ever produced. Over six rocky seasons, during which the perennially low-rated series teetered on the brink of cancellation, Harmon and his phenomenal writing staff crafted a densely layered and wildly meta disquisition on what it means to be human. Seriously. A sitcom did this.
The show initially revolved around seven misfits who bond quickly as a study group at the fictional Greendale Community College. That the study group is formed under false pretenses (McHale's Jeff is trying to hook up with Jacobs' Britta) places all of the relationships on the shakiest of foundations. Before long, every character has their insecurities tattooed on their forehead, which leaves us wincing as hard as we laugh.
As the series segued into its second season, Harmon expanded the core to include disgraced Spanish teacher Ben Chang (Ken Jeong). Chang is the ultimate try-hard.

Actor and producer Donald Glover starred on Community for years, playing the role of the beloved Troy Barnes. The show amassed quite a cult following in its six seasons, earning some impressive ratings at times. In fact, the show worked so well that the cast is currently wrapping up production on the Community movie.
But believe it or not, Glover was blissfully unaware of the show’s popularity when he was on it, at least at first. It took a trip over the Canadian border for him to realize he was famous.

Community, which debuted in 2009, starred Joe McHale as Jeff Winger, a disbarred lawyer suspended from his firm when he was busted for lying about having a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.

When actor Ken Jeong was an aspiring medical student at Duke University, he developed a passion for acting. Even though The Masked Singer panelist received his medical degree from UCLA in 1995 and is still a licensed physician in California, he chose to hang up his white lab coat and pursue a career in acting, which has paid off handsomely. While Jeong is no longer a practicing physician, he is married to a doctor. In 2002, Ken Jeong met his future wife, Tran Ho, when they hit it off at a singles mixer for doctors.
Jeong has had an impressive career
After earning his medical degree, Jeong started working at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in West California. But he never lost his desire to become an accomplished actor. He eventually landed bit roles on television shows such as Two and a Half Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, and more.

There are a lot of memorable characters who orbit the central study group on the NBC comedy series "Community," but few had the ability to send everything into chaos quite like Señor Ben Chang. The character starts out as the study group's Spanish teacher, but eventually ends up becoming one of the series' biggest antagonists. Played with bottomless energy by actor Ken Jeong, Chang is one of the most ridiculous characters in sitcom history. His arc over the six seasons (and upcoming movie) of the series is one of the most extreme of the entire cast, and that's pretty incredible considering Troy (Donald Glover) ends up sailing the globe with LeVar Burton.
In a Reddit Ask Me Anything, series creator Dan Harmon explained that while Chang was fantastic in the authority position of a professor, he was just too great to relegate to the realm of teaching forever. Instead, Harmon...

Community fans are finally getting the “movie” portion of the show’s “six seasons and a movie” promise, and Danny Pudi, who played Abed Nadir in the cult favorite sitcom, is “very excited.” In an interview with ComicBook.com, Pudi touched on the upcoming big-screen adaptation. “Everything we know, we know. The update on my end is that I’m very excited,” he said. “I haven’t read anything yet, but we’ve all been texting and communicating. We’re pumped and really looking forward to doing it. So we’ll see. We’ll see very soon, hopefully.” Peacock officially announced Community: The Movie back in September, with the show’s creator Dan Harmon on board, alongside returning stars Joel McHale (Jeff Winger), Pudi, Alison Brie (Annie Edison), Gillian Jacobs (Britta Perry), Jim Rash (Craig Pelton), and Ken Jeong (Ben Chang). Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, and Yvette Nicole Brown are not returning for the film.

Sitcom characters very rarely come off of the page fully formed. Many classic (and not-so-classic) network sitcoms rely on time as an ally. Time spent with characters allows for not only an audience to get a better sense of them but also for the writers and actors to do so as well.
Community was no exception. Each of the ensemble cast’s seven main characters (and tertiary characters like Ben Chang and Dean Craig Pelton) arrived in the pilot fundamentally unfinished. And each of them evolved over time, in some cases sharpening creator Dan Harmon and the writing staff’s original assumptions or defying them. No character, however, changed more from conception to execution over time than Britta Perry as played by Gillian Jacobs.
Originally, Harmon designed Britta Perry simply as a romantic foil to series lead Jeff Winger. When Community first premiered in 2009, The Office was entering its sixth...

Netflix and Hulu are pulling an episode of Community from their streaming services due to a scene that contains blackface, sources tell Deadline.
In the “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” episode, the Ben Chang character, played by Ken Jeong, shows up to a Dungeons & Dragons game wearing black make-up and a white wig. Shirley, played by Yvette Nicole Brown, says to Chang, “So, we’re just going to ignore that hate crime, huh?”, to which Chang responds, “I’m a dark elf or a drow.” Chang continues to play the game as the character, Brutalitops the Magician, until he is killed and eliminated.
The show’s producer Sony Pictures Television released a statement, backing both Netflix and Hulu. “We support the decision to remove the episode, an Spt spokesperson said.
The decision to pull the episode is one of the latest by networks and streaming services amid renewed national conversations about offensive stereotypes and racism.

In the seven years since his breakout role in "Knocked Up," Ken Jeong has played a string of extremes. His role on "Community" as the insane and diabolical Ben Chang has been unpredictable, but his turns in the "Hangover" series and "Role Models" (as the King of Laire, or Live Action Interactive Role-playing Explorers) have been just as funny and unsettling. After nailing hilarious supporting roles in The Hangover franchise and on NBC’s Community, Ken Jeong is finally getting his time to shine as the lead actor in upcoming comedy International Incident, which Steve Carell is currently in negotiations to produce through his Carousel Productions banner.

His turn as camp gangster Leslie Chow is frat-comedy excess – and shot him to fame. But the trained doctor and self-confessed 'shy nerd' takes his comedy seriously
Ken Jeong hit the mainstream groin first, leaping naked from the boot of a car on to Bradley Cooper's face. The standout scene from The Hangover – Todd Phillips's $450m-from-nowhere blockbuster – introduced the world to Leslie Chow, the camp gangster who hung around The Hangover's "Wolf Pack" (Cooper, Zack Galifianakis, Ed Helms), being utterly disgusting and terrifyingly weird. Jeong as Chow came to encapsulate the excesses of the frat-comedy franchise. Over three Hangover films he would gobble dog food, get masturbated by a monkey and die – then be resurrected – after snorting cocaine. The character was wild and dangerous, psychotic but alluring. Chow was a tiger. Jeong, it turns out, is a pussy cat.

From impressive supporting roles in comedies like Knocked Up, Step Brothers and Pineapple Express, Ken Jeong got his big break as wild man Mr. Chow and made his debut in The Hangover series in spectacularly bold fashion: he jumped out of the trunk of a car, naked.
Since then, we've seen his mad, foul-mouthed and quotable character engage in more bad behaviour in Todd Phillips' 2011 follow-up and as the loopy Señor Ben Chang on TV's "Community" now with a heftier story line for the devilish Chow, Jeong gets more dialogue to chew on, more stunts and more shocking antics to offend audiences while they laugh their faces off.
We hit the red carpet at Toronto's Scotiabank theatre to chat with Jeong about what it's like saying goodbye to his favourite character and what we can expect from the Wolfpack's last call in The Hangover Part III, opening May 23.

Ken Jeong is keeping mum on the future of his "Community" character Ben Chang - though if it were up to him, his run on the NBC series might never end. "I can't give any spoilers away on 'Community,' I'm sorry," Jeong told HitFix's Gregory Ellwood of the possibility that Chang may leave the series following the completion of Season 4. "But I'll be honest man, those guys...I mean, 'Community' is my TV family, and nothing would make me happier than to see the show continue, going on six seasons and a movie, man. Nothing I'm doing right now changes how I feel...

Review Emma Matthews 18 Mar 2013 - 05:50
There's a glimmer of hope in this week's Community episode, which is both funny and recognisably Greendale. Here's Emma's review...
This review contains spoilers.
4.6 Advanced Documentary Filmmaking
As Community rumbles slowly through its fourth and least consistent season, sitting down to a new episode has become something of a trepidatious affair. Where a new episode used to be something to look forward to, these days, there’s just no telling from one week to the next what the show will deliver. Given the almost depressingly poor show in Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations, the trepidation ramped up to near-dread as the airing of Advanced Documentary Filmmaking approached. Would the mutilated monstrosity now known as Big Bang Community be back in full force? Or could a tiny glimmer of the show we love still survive, and in a Supernatural demon possession kind of a way,...

TBS comedy Sullivan & Son is about to get Chang-ed!
EW has learned exclusively that Community fan-fave Ken Jeong is set to appear in a second-season episode of S&S, set to air in the summer.
He will play Jason, Steve’s (Steve Byrne) doctor brother-in-law whose workaholic ways are putting strain on his marriage to Steve’s sister, Susan (Vivan Bang). So Susan enlists Steve’s help in getting Jason to unwind, but the plan backfires when Jason begins to reject his old life entirely.

There's a new "Community" coming, and what better way to preview that arrival than with two videos related to the show.
One video is a scene from the episode, "Alternative History of the German Invasion," and features the return to Greendale of Chang (Ken Jeong). The other comes from a concert in which Alison Brie sings a song accompanied by Tom Felton (aka, Draco Malfoy of the "Harry Potter" movies).
First up, Chang is back. Except that he isn't totally Chang. For reasons that we have yet to learn, the man formerly known as Ben Chang is now going by "Kevin." He seems to have no memory of his past life.
Does Chang really have "changnesia"? Will Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) be stuck with this head case? Which is crazier -- amnesiac Chang or the original Chang? "Alternative History of the German Invasion" promises to at least start to answer those questions.

On the same day NBC’s Community posted a series low, its co-star Ken Jeong was cast in ABC’s comedy pilot Spy. The casting of course is in second position to Community, but ABC is clearly betting that the cult comedy won’t come back next season. Based on the UK series, Spy centers on Tim (Rob Corddry), a well intentioned father of a highly intelligent and verbal son (Mason Cook), who also happens to be his complete opposite, who inadvertently takes a job at the Secret Service in order to prove himself a worthy father. Jeong will play the lithe and mischievous Examiner. The role is played by Robert Lindsay in the original series. Jeong is the first Community cast member to book a pilot. After an encouraging start to its fourth season earlier this month, Community dropped off precipitously, posting a series-low 1.1 18-49 rating for its episode last night.

Here is some awesome Community meets the Justice League fan art. Created by artist Ben Deguzman, the piece features Ben Chang (Ken Jeong ) as Martian Manhunter, Shirley Bennett (Yvette Nicole Brown) as Hawkgirl, Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) as Superman, Troy Barnes (Donald Glover) as Green Lantern, Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) as Aquaman, Britta Perry (Gillian Jacobs) as Black Canary, Annie Edison (Alison Brie) as Wonder Woman, Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi) as Batman, and Dean Craig Pelton (Jim Rash) as The Flash.
The fourth season of the NBC show aired this past week to high ratings. I personally have not been a huge fan lately of the show. I do love Deguzman's art though. Check out more of his work here and these new pieces below:

Last night, Community made it's season 4 premiere, and the ratings were actually up. Total viewership increased by 1% from last year's Season 3 premiere. With that bit of good news out of the way let's enjoy the Ben Deguzman's image below of the cast as the Justice League: Ben Chang (Ken Jeong ) as Martian Manhunter, Shirley Bennett (Yvette Nicole Brown) as Hawkgirl, Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) as Superman, Troy Barnes (Donald Glover) as Green Lantern, Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) as Aquaman, Britta Perry (Gillian Jacobs) as Black Canary, Annie Edison (Alison Brie) as Wonder Woman, Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi) as Batman, and Dean Craig Pelton (Jim Rash) as The Flash. The more things change — or Chang, if you will — the more they stay the same. However, Community, which (finally) launches its fourth season this Thursday (NBC, 8/7c), is about to turn that adage on its head with the not-so-triumphant return of Ken Jeong‘s Ben Chang.
Last seen living in the vents of the dastardly City College, the onetime troublemaker returns to Greendale early in Season 4 — but, alas, he’s no longer Chang. Instead, the character is suffering from — dun, dun, dun! — Changnesia and goes by the name Kevin.
Will the group embrace Chang’s chang(e)? Press Play below to find out.

'Community' fans know this better than anyone: Ben Chang is crazy, y'all.
Ken Jeong's twisted character went from Senor Spanish teacher to study group stalker to possible daddy of Shirley's baby (thank god little Ben Bennett was born black and tail-less), but we've got the exclusive first look of him in his new role: Greendale security guard.
Yes, the game is Chang-ing for 'Community' Season 3 (premieres Thurs., Sept. 22, 8Pm Et on NBC).
Instead of still trying to be one of the gang, it sounds like Chang will be using his new-found power over the Human Beings to try to scare them into hanging out with him again. Or maybe he's taken the search for Annie's Boobs just a bit too far.
Check out Chang in full uniform after the jump!

School will soon be back in session for Community, but why wait for the fall semester when the stars and creative minds make their lesson plan known at San Diego Comic-Con 2011!
After last season's epic paintball finale "Fist Full of Paintballs" and "For a Few Paintballs More," fans have to wonder just how more epic the series can get in its genre-exploiting and mulifaceted brand of comedy. Will Shirley and Chang be better friends without a baby between them? Will Pierce return to the study group? Will Cougartown love continue? What of Abed and Annie?
And what kinds of parodies might we see from the new season, rumored to include such guest stars as The Wire and Boardwalk Empire's Michael K. Williams? Series creator and showrunner Dan Harmon confirmed by Twitter the panel will take place Saturday, July 23rd at 1:00pm in the Indigo Ballroom of the Hilton Bayfront!

The Hangover Part II actor Ken Jeong has insisted that he is nothing like the wild characters he often portrays. The Michigan native, who practiced medicine before pursuing acting full-time, is best known for his roles as the gangster Mr Chow in the Hangover films and Community's bizarre Spanish teacher Ben Chang. Jeong disclosed to Parade that his own personality is often quite subdued, noting: "When the cameras are off, I'm not a joke machine or in your face Chang-ing it up. People would be surprised at how sensitive I am to other people's feelings. "I'm definitely a people pleaser. I like people to be happy around me and be comfortable. I go out of my way, sometimes to a fault, (more)...

Briefly: Community has had a hell of a run of guest stars: Patton Oswalt; Kevin Corrigan, LeVar Burton, Betty White, the Derrick Comedy team and more. Now EW [1] says that Josh Holloway will make his first post-Lost TV appearance in the two-part season finale of Community. And it will be a sequel of sorts to the much-loved 'Modern Warfare' episode, in which a paintball tournament where the winner could have priority class registration turned Greendale Community College into a dayglo paint-spattered wasteland. The actor will reportedly play "a mysterious figure who shows up on campus during another game of paintball." Looking forward to seeing his inevitable rivalry with Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) whether Ken Jeong's Ben Chang will do his Scarface impersonation once again. But what I really want to see is Danny Pudi's interaction with Holloway -- they could have been great together on Lost. And...
