"We make the rules now, all four of us. We'll be a family of 'Mountain Men' in no time." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie off-the-grid thriller titled Manifest West, from filmmaker duo Joe Dietsch & Louie Gibson. The film is intriguing coming-of-age story told through the eyes of a young girl whose family spirals out of control after they decide to live off the grid. It had its world premiere at the Mammoth Film Festival, where it won Best Genre Film, earlier this year. The film stars Annet Mahendru, Milo Gibson, Lexy Kolker, Michael Cudlitz, and the comedian Tim Heidecker (giving a very serious performance this time). This starts out so nice and uplifting, the story of a family trying to make a life on their own in the woods - reminds me of Captain Fantastic. But then things quickly get intense and twisted and dark,...

Manifest West Trailer: Tim Heidecker Is Continuing To Broaden His Horizons With The Serious Thriller
As wonderful as the advancements in technology have been for a multitude of reasons, the inability to ever truly go off the grid often leaves lingering existential and downright dystopian feelings. The newest film from Samuel Goldwyn Films, "Manifest West" sees a family attempt to leave the world behind, becoming self-sufficient and living off of the land. Unfortunately, this isn't the age of manifest destiny and the problems that existed before don't magically wash away with a change of zip code and a refusal to send children to public schools. The coming-of-age film from Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson centers on a family that grows increasingly violent after moving into the wilderness, told from the perspective of a young girl watching her family fall apart through her very eyes.
Annet Mahendru and Milo Gibson star as the parental figures, with Lexy Kolker as the film's main protagonist. In a bit of inspired casting,...

Exclusive: Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights to the drama Manifest West, starring Lexy Kolker (Shooter), Annet Mahendru (Father Stu), Milo Gibson (Under the Stadium Lights), Tim Heidecker (Spin Me Round) and Michael Cudlitz (Clarice), slating it for release in theaters and on digital platforms this fall.
The film from writer-directors Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson (Happy Hunting) is a coming-of-age story, told through the eyes of a 10-year old girl whose family moves off the grid into untamed North American Wilderness. It’s their attempt to establish normalcy, to thrive off the land, and escape the pressures of modern society. But the family has its own internal pressures building, and you can’t escape what’s going on in your own household, no matter how far you move up a mountain.

Will everyone be able to fool the Crm?

Unfortunately for them, it won't be easy.
The Crm has proven to be a formidable force, and if the mysterious company gets wind of everyone taking part in this plan, it could lead to death and destruction.
"As a dangerous plan is put into motion, more revelations come to light," reads the logline.

There are so many variables with such a mission, especially when you have wildcards like Percy, who would let his emotions get the better of him.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2, Episode 4, “Family is a Four-Letter Word.”] Well, sisters Iris (Aliyah Royale) and Hope (Alexa Mansour) have a sweet reunion — but other than that, unfortunately, not a whole lot else happens on this episode of World Beyond. Tensions are high, of course, when Huck (Annet Mahendru) walks through the gates, especially given how she left things with Felix (Nico Tortorella), and because Will (Jelani Alladin) would have a huge target on his back if the Civic Republic Military knew he was alive. But while Felix does threaten to kill her “someday” — which is just vague enough to imply it probably won’t be Felix who does her in, if she dies — he does also stop a revenge-minded Percy (Ted Sutherland) from killing her, so Huck lives to fight another day. Steve Swisher/AMC While all of this is unfolding, Hope and Iris have a few teary conversations during ...

The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 will feature the return of a long-gone character from The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead’s second spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, promised…well, a world beyond the usual Twd storytelling possibilities.
In that regard, the AMC series about four precocious youths 10 years into the zombie post-apocalypse mostly delivered. Season 1 of the show, which premiered last October after a Covid delay, picked up in Nebraska at the Campus Colony of Omaha before heading out on a cross-country adventure. In the process, the show formally introduced the Civic Republic, and its military arm (the Crm) that seems set to become a major antagonist for The Walking Dead franchise for years to come.
Despite bringing exciting new antagonistic toys for The Walking Dead’s sandbox to play with, World Beyond is somewhat unusual compared to its companion series. While The Walking Dead is finally set to conclude with its 11th and final season beginning on Aug. 22 and first spinoff Fear the Walking Dead...

The Walking Dead: World Beyond's short run will conclude with its second season.
Based on our first look at the second season, it looks like the spinoff will finally live up to its potential.
If there was one thing I despised about The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 1, it was the slow nature of it all.
Now that the truth is out there about Huck's connection to Elizabeth, it should result in some bigger swings.
Then, there's the whole connection to the Civic Republic Military. To date, they've been shadowy figures doing questionable things, meaning it's tough to understand their machinations.
Using Huck as an entrance to that world will probably benefit the story greatly because she was one of the standout characters of the first season.

Just like 2020, there’s going to be a lot of the zombie apocalypse on the small screen this fall.
In a move reminiscent of last year’s Comic-Con@Home, The Walking Dead: World Beyond on Saturday unveiled the premiere date for its second and seemingly final season. The limited-series spinoff that follows the first generation raised in the post-apocalyptic world will return to AMC on October 3.
Along with that debut date, World Beyond during its virtual panel today rolled out a clip from the 10-episode second season of the Scott M. Gimple- and Matt Negrete-created show — and things have gotten bloody, to say the least:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond Episodes 9 and 10
Huck (Annet Mahendru) is a woman with a mission, and it’s not to make sure everyone gets to the Civic Republic Militia research facility safely. From the very opening of The Walking Dead: World Beyond‘s ninth episode, “The Deepest Cut,” as Huck stares into the darkness while everyone sleeps, it’s clear she’s facing a choice between the people that she has come to know and love as friends in Felix and the kids, and her loyalty to the Crm, her mother, and the Crm’s idea of the greater good. Throughout the series, when prompted, Huck has cautioned Hope in particular to make the choice that benefits everyone, not the choice that simply benefits her, and that encouragement to push hope towards that concept of the greater good makes much...

One of the enduring mysteries of The Walking Dead franchise is the origins of the zombie pathogen. Theories range from a man-made biological weapon to an ancient virus released from a defrosted glacier, or even a straight-up supernatural curse on Earth from the heavens. Creator Robert Kirkman isn’t giving anything away, though one theory that’s been mentioned a couple of times over the years is that it arrived from the inky blackness of space.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond dropped a big nod to this in last night’s episode “Truth or Dare.” During the outing, we see Annet Mahendru’s Huck remembering her time as a military sniper when the government was frantically trying to stop the crisis from spreading. Her commanding officer says that the “source or nature of the current crisis cannot be confirmed.” Later, we hear soldiers discussing what’s going on, with one...

It didn’t take long for Silas to reach critical mass. The moment another competitor for Iris’s attention came along, the danger meter slowly began to creep higher with every passing moment. The Walking Dead: World Beyond hit that point with a hammer. Iris and Percy laughing in the foreground, Silas starting daggers at them in the background. The two making plans to meet up after dark for what sounds like a make-out session? Silas lumbering in the distance, head down and ears open. Silas was the first person to sniff out that Percy was untrustworthy, and his reward for that was to have Percy and his uncle Tony join the group as full-fledged members and for Percy to swoop in and start making time with one of the two girls in the group...

When you’re fighting a legion of undead, you need reliable weapons, a plucky attitude, and — this week, at least — a bottle of Mountain Dew.
The citrusy PepsiCo soda will this Sunday appear in a new episode of AMC’s “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” and not only on screen. Characters will mention the beverage by name in scripted dialogue. Its cameo is part of a bid by the cable network to make one of its most foreboding series a more welcome place to one important constituency: advertisers.
“This is definitely something that we love doing and want to do more across this universe,” says Kim Granito, AMC Networks’ senior vice president of integrated marketing, in an interview, cautioning that any appearance of a product in a scene of any “Walking Dead” series “needs to be authentic to that world.”

The Walking Dead: World Beyond Episode 4
A lot of people are critical of The Walking Dead: World Beyond for what the show is. It’s a teen-centric supernatural drama set in a zombie universe, like MTV’s Teen Wolf but not sexy due to the unspoken body odor surrounding every character. That’s not to everyone’s taste, which is understandable. The Walking Dead isn’t to everyone’s tastes, either.
As such, a Walking Dead fan’s tolerance or interest in World Beyond is based heavily on just how much they enjoy watching melodramas meant for teenagers. Empties, adult characters, political intrigue… all of it takes a back-seat to the main thrust of the story, which is the teenage coming-of-age thing that can be divisive and limits the ceiling of World Beyond significantly. If this show were on the CW or Freeform,...

Sometimes, TV shows pick up steam after weak premieres.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond is not one of those shows.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 1 Episode 2 was an excruciating watch, and it all comes down to those pesky teens and the terrible writing to support them.
The mythology across the franchise has been a bit all over the place, and the flaws were on full display on "Blaze of Gory," an episode that tried to introduce new elements, but was marred by the worst teenagers on all of TV.
From their names for the zombies to the way they were all scared shitless about going toe-to-toe with members of the undead, it was exhausting.
Maybe the message to take is that people who grow up in shielded communities will not have the survival skills when they are put to the test.
The campus setting and the 10,000 people living there was essentially a community,...

We don't have to waste time wondering if The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be cancelled right now since AMC ordered two seasons out of the gate. “The Walking Dead” has been running for nearly 10 years now, and its spinoff, “Fear the Walking Dead,” has been on for another five, so one might think this zombie-infested world has been pretty thoroughly explored by this point. Yet here we have “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” a “limited series event” that promises to view the “Walking Dead” universe through the eyes of teenagers that have come of age in the zombie apocalypse.
It’s a solid enough premise on paper, but unfortunately, “Brave,” the “World Beyond” pilot, introduces a troupe of typical stock characters and sets them off to traipse through the abandoned towns and zombie-filled forests that viewers have seen many, many times before in this franchise.
Our main characters are sisters Iris (Aliyah Royale) and Hope (Alexa Mansour), residents of the Nebraska Campus Colony, a thriving community that has an alliance with the Civic Republic Military, a...

After its premiere was delayed by several months due to Covid-19, the two-season The Walking Dead spinoff series The Walking Dead: World Beyond finally makes its debut this week. The story expands the Twd universe in a unique way, taking place 10 years after the zombie outbreak and focusing on a predominantly teenage cast of characters. Unlike the battered groups of survivors from The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, these teens have been sheltered from walkers within the walls of a university in Omaha, Nebraska, a thriving colony that has afforded them a relatively normal, safe life post-outbreak.
But, as fans will learn from the very first episode, the Campus Colony (as it’s referred to) does have a seemingly precarious arrangement with the Civic Republic Military (Crm), whose ominous helicopters act as a narrative thread that ties the three shows together. It’s safe to say you’ll...

The Walking Dead may be ending, but the franchise will continue to live thanks to several spinoffs in the works.
Fear the Walking Dead has, for the most part, been a disappointment, and it seems like the same fate awaits The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
The latest suffers from the jump due to poor characterization, no stakes, and a group of, quite frankly, uninteresting teenagers.
Focusing on the first generation of kids to grow up during the apocalypse could have had legs, but the best way to sum up World Beyond is as a teen melodrama with an apocalyptic backdrop.
Through two episodes, the teens find themselves in a string of deadly situations, but it says a lot about the series because of how little I cared about any of them.
Alexa Mansour leads the cast as Hope, a young woman determined to find her missing scientist father. She doesn't...

Created in October of 2003 by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead franchise is now old enough to drive and nearly old enough to vote. With that in mind, the latest Twd franchise is going to be injecting some fresh blood into the proceedings.
Premiering on Oct. 4 after The Walking Dead season 10 finale, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be a unique experiment for the long-running AMC monolith. For starters, World Beyond won’t be reaching anywhere near the flagship series’ staggering 11-season run. Then there’s the fact that World Beyond features a cast of young characters who have lived the majority of their lives among the walking dead and have grown accustomed to the apocalypse.

After its planned spring premiere was delayed by the coronavirus outbreak, AMC’s second offshoot of The Walking Dead, World Beyond, at last has a new start date, it was announced at the show’s Comic-Con @ Home panel Friday: Sunday, Oct. 4, at 10/9c, immediately following the finale-that’s-no-longer-a-finale of the mother ship. A special episode of Talking Dead will air afterwards and include discussions of both The Walking Dead’s “finale” and World Beyond’s premiere.
The new show — billed as a two-season limited event — revolves around the first generation of survivors raised after the zombie apocalypse.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the second stand-alone series in AMC’s The Walking Dead franchise, will premiere on October 4 at 10 Pm as a lead-out to the mothership Twd. A special Talking Dead after-show to discuss both episodes will follow, the creative team and cast said Friday during the series’ panel discussion at Comic-Con@Home.
The news follows AMC having to postponed the series’ original April 12 premiere date back in March because of the then-growing coronavirus threat that upended most of the entertainment business. World Beyond had wrapped filming, but post-production on the final few episode was impacted by the industry shutdown.

AMC’s newest “Walking Dead” series, “World Beyond” has a new premiere date. The second spinoff of AMC’s popular zombie franchise will now debut Oct. 4 at 10 p.m., right after the return of “The Walking Dead.”

Originally slated to premiere back in April, “World Beyond” was delayed early-on in the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought film and TV production to a standstill in March.
