With Cake, Fxx sought to bring prestige short-form content to mainstream TV. Spearheaded by Kate Lambert, SVP, Original Programming at FX Networks, the show was conceived as, “a collection of bite-sized snacks that were all of one piece,” the executive says.
Inspired by Liquid Television and the wacky variety of Adult Swim, the series is a treasure trove of animated and live-action programming, ranging widely in aesthetic, length and tone.
From Lambert’s perspective, the show emerged from a couple of drives, on the part of Fxx. “One is wanting to have a space to innovate, to try things that could be a little bit more experimental, to have a space of the brand that could hold that,” she explains. “Then, we were looking at the progenitors of this kind of form, [thinking] about, how do you develop, in a different kind of incubator, material that could be up to a half hour or an hour,...

A love letter to John Waters written in blood, Joshua Grannell’s debut feature, All About Evil, dares to be everything a gushing fan boy, or girl, or drag queen could want. The film opens with a wink and a nod to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? as little Deborah Tennis is gearing up to take the stage for her first performance at her father’s movie theater, before a screening of The Wizard of Oz.
Dressed as Dorothy, and visibly nervous, even after a pep talk by her father. Sadly things don’t go well, as she is heckled by her peers and further embarrassed by her literal wicked witch of a mother who laughs when things go awry for the poor girl. Cut to present day, all grown up, and surely none the better for it considering her upbringing, Deborah (Natasha Lyonne) has inherited her father’s movie...

Director Joshua Grannell has always had a deep love of all those cheesy type horror movies that they used to air late at night. He's also had a passion for old school style theaters that play revivals of those late night cheesy movies. So it's no wonder he managed to create a valentine to those theaters and to those movies with his very first feature length film, All About Evil. He also gave one of his idols, Elviria aka Cassandra Peterson, a great little role sans costume as a concerned mom trying to understand her son's love of the horror genre. All About Evil features an all star cast of players including Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Dekker, Noah Segan, Mink Stole, Jade Ramsey, Nikita Ramsey, Ariel Hart, Lyndsy Kail, Santia Andrews and Julie Caitlin Brown. Here's what director Joshua Grannell had to say about his film, All About Evil which is...

Cassandra Peterson tells us about her role in Peaches Christ's outrageous new horror film All About Evil, which she calls "A really fun movie."
In the as-yet-to-be-released darkly comedic and demented horror film All About Evil, Cassandra Peterson, better known as horror hostess Elvira (who is returning to TV this September), plays the role of the loving and determined mother desperate to save her son (played by Thomas Dekker) from the clutches of a crazed Natasha Lyonne.
Perterson can only describe it as "if Herschell Gordon Lewis and John Waters had a movie together," and goes on to talk about her role as 'mom';
Quote:
I’m really the one, normal, straight person in the movie. Everyone else is sorta over the top, a little big, a little bizarre, and I’m just this normal mom trying to protect my son from the evil dealings going on. And I...

Watch the scarily camp-tastic first clip from Joshua Grannell’s debut horror feature All About Evil, featuring a diabolical Natasha Lyonne and her Satanic cronies bedeviling a poor Ariel Hart who only wants to live another day. Although clearly filmed somewhat tongue-in-cheek, there’s a genuine sense of dread and menace in this short, one-minute excerpt.
Although more well known for her personal troubles than her acting lately, Lyonne reaches deep into her dark side to star as Deborah Tennis, a mousy librarian who inherits her uncle’s failing movie theater and quickly realizes there’s only one thing that can save the family business: Blood! After becoming a local sensation for the grisly “realism” in the movies she starts directing — although that realism comes from the fact that she’s actually murdering people for real — Deborah becomes more frantic about finding fresh victims the more popular her work becomes.

We've just received word from director Joshua Grannell (aka Peaches Christ) that the first clip from his upcoming indie horror epic All About Evil is now available on Youtube. "The timing," says Grannell, "coincides with our acceptance into the Toronto After Dark film festival, and I'm really excited and thrilled we've been included in such a fantastic line-up of films. The clip we chose features the film's family of killers, aka Deborah's film crew. When student newspaper journalist Judy (Ariel Hart) suspects something isn't quite right at the Victoria Theatre she attempts a hasty exit and bails on her interview with Deborah (Natasha Lyonne). She's stalled by twins Veda and Vera (Jade...
