Born in Bari (Italy) on December 30, 1953, Mimmo Mongelli graduated in
Direction at the National Academy of Dramatic Arts of Rome (Italy) and
worked in theatre with masters like Ronconi, A. Trionfo, M. Bolognini,
A. Camilleri, G.F. De Bosio and Ugo Gregoretti. He is a director, actor
and producer for the theatre, the cinema and television; he is also a
playwright and a screenwriter; he managed several acting workshops for
amateur and professional actors. He teaches Direction, History of the
Performance Arts, History of Music and Musical theater and History of
Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari. He has collaborated
with magazines of cultural interest for issues related to the theater.
He has directed several theater companies in Rome and Apulia. His first
feature film was "La casa delle donne" (The House of Women), for which
he also wrote the screenplay. The film was funded by the Italian
Ministry of Heritage and Culture, as a film of national cultural
interest. It was released in Italian cinemas in the spring-summer 2003. He is the President of
the Levante International Film Festival, an international festival of
independent cinema in Bari. He is the sole administrator of the film
production company 7th International Art Agency, for which he produced
the documentary "Le donne della Torre Pelosa" (by Antonella Maddalena),
the short film "Watch", the short film "Lontani
dalla luna - Far from the Moon" and is preparing the
docudrama "Franco Marcone: a man standing and the lady dressed in fog"
a documentary on an unsolved mafia crime, the documentary "We are also
Italians" on the Italians emigrated in Canada and his second feature
film, "Outis Suite".
