Angela Harvey had one job at the Think Tank for Inclusion and Equity’s picket at the Disney lot last Friday: to take photos and document the event on social media. “I get here and go to take photos, and I left my phone in the car down on Riverside,” says the TV writer and co-chair of the advocacy organization composed of working television scribes from historically excluded backgrounds.
Katherine Beattie, a member of Ttie’s steering committee and also a Writers Guild of America strike captain, offered to retrieve it for her. “Katherine uses a wheelchair and was like, ‘I’ll be faster.’ So she went and got my phone, and it was really fast!” Harvey laughs. “She could do that because this place is accessible.” (The Disney lot, with its wide sidewalks, is considered one of the most accessible picketing locations.)

‘American Horror Stories’ offers its unique take on a classic trope, but thin characters and predictable plotting result in a shattered episode.
“You light a candle in a room and then you say her name three times…”
There’s a natural shorthand that exists with creepy characters like Bloody Mary that have become omnipresent in pop culture. Not only are most American Horror Story audiences aware of Bloody Mary’s urban legend, but there’s been a demand to see her worked into the series for some time now. The twisted “monkey’s paw” logic that accompanies Bloody Mary and similar specters is ripe material for the horror genre to explore and low-rent Blumhouse material like Wish Upon or Truth or Dare (or Shudder’s Kandisha) do exactly that. American Horror Stories finally finds a suitable story to explore this staple, but “Bloody Mary” is arguably the weakest application of this premise.

Suits star Patrick J. Adams tore into Britain’s Royal Family today, calling its treatment of his former costar Meghan Markle “obscene,” shameless and an irrelevant institution that is “overdrawn on credibility and apparently bankrupt of decency.”
Adams was just one of Markle’s Suits colleagues coming to the Duchess of Sussex’s defense today, the smackdowns coming after this week’s news that the Royal Family had launched an investigation into complaints by former Kensington Palace staff that Markle had bullied and humiliated them. The charges have made international headlines in the lead-up to Sunday’s big Oprah with Meghan and Harry special on CBS.
“Meghan Markle and I spent the better part of a decade working together on Suits,” Adams writes in the first in a string of eight tweets (see them below). “From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, giving, joyful and supportive member of our television family.

Things in Beacon Hills are getting increasingly weirder, troubling and dangerous with every visit. Great stuff, says Ron...

5.7 Strange Frequencies
Danger seems to lurk around every corner in Beacon Hills. It doesn't matter if you're a normal person or a supernatural monster, there's something or someone out there looking to kill you. We've seen that a lot this season thanks to the weird science wrought by the Dread Doctors, and it's not really getting old yet. There's always something interesting happening, the dangers are varied enough and fleshed-out enough that whether we feel sorry for the victim/monster of the week or not, we at least feel something. Tracy didn't deserve her fate; Donovan did, because he threatened everyone's favorite TV dad with a stabbing-related death. Hayden, the latest target of the Doctors' dread machinations... not sure yet.
In an effort to come clean to Hayden,...

5.5. A Novel Approach
I love it when an episode ends on a cliffhanger, then we go right into that very spot we left in the next episode. I don't like waiting around for closure; I want something immediate, and in the case of Teen Wolf this episode, I wasn't left wanting. Indeed, the “last week on” montage ended with Stiles getting grabbed, and then seamlessly the episode starts with Stiles after being grabbed by Donovan and his new toothy leech-like mouth-hand. It's an immediate shot of adrenaline, both for the viewer and for Stiles, who escapes his tormentor and saves his own life by breaking one of Scott McCall's only rules: Stiles killed Donovan. Sure, he killed him by dropping a bunch of metal pieces on him and impaling him,...

4.5 I.E.D.
On one hand, there's a lacrosse scrimmage between Liam's old school and his new school. It's also Kira's first night on the lacrosse team and Scott and Stiles are both actually attempting to pay attention to school this year, since they're juniors now and need to actually keep their grades up if they want to go to a college that isn't Beacon Hills Tech. Of course, it's hard to focus on training a new Beta in the ways of lycanthropy when there's yet another group of powerful assassins on the loose in your hometown and local supernaturals are finding themselves chopped down with tomahawks, blown up with mines, and beheaded with weird heat filament garottes.
There are still teenager concerns to be dealt with, but...

3.5 Frayed
As a genre show, Teen Wolf has covered a lot of ground. From the teenage romance/werewolf coming of age story in the first season to the more action-oriented second season full of creature battles, Teen Wolf is a show that displays an incredible amount of flexibility when it comes to just what sort of style it wants to be. The show has a talented crew of young actors with good support personnel, a limitless amount of music to choose from to set the mood, and skillful directors and writers working behind the scenes to bring Jeff Davis's vision Teen Wolf to life. This season, the show seems to be returning to the horror elements of the first season,...
