“DuckTales” makes its triumphant return to TV in a Disney Xd movie, titled “Woo-Oo!,” on Saturday that sets the bar high during this age of reboots and revivals.
In the TV landscape filled with comic book adaptations featuring superheroes, zombies or spies, it’s easy to forget that the much-beloved “DuckTales” also hailed from ink and paper. It’s this source material, however, that gave the series its storytelling heft and visual vibrancy, an irresistible combination that has contributed to the original series’ success and nostalgic longevity. This was not some treacly, preachy after-school fare, but rather zippy escapism that built in serialized installments.
Fortunately, the reboot of the series keeps all of those important original hallmarks. “American Idol” alum Felicia Barton re-recorded the signature theme song but keeps its sense of fun and excitement intact. The animation...

Shania Twain is bringing her patented brand of countrified pop (or is it popified country?) to American Idol tonight as she mentors the season 9 top 6 through 50 of her best-known tracks (Check out my dream set list for tonight's show here.) Before someone makes me grimace by attempting the high camp of "That Don't Impress Me Much," though, I'm going to rank our half-dozen musical gladiators in terms of their momentum over the last nine weeks of live performances. Won't you do the same by voting for your favorite in our Power List poll? (Related: Watch Idolatry exit videos with Andrew Garcia,...

Season-nine semifinalists' rocky live debut has 'Idol' experts and fans concerned.

The early semifinal rounds of "American Idol" are always difficult. You are bound to have some early hopefuls falling victim to first-time-on-tv jitters, a few dark horses soaring before an eventual crash and a handful of singers proving they were lucky to have gotten there in the first place.
But after the first two nights of mostly panned performances, veteran "Idol" watchers woke up Thursday (February 25) wondering, "Is this the worst top 24 ever?"
The answer is easy for Dave Della Terza, webmaster of the long-running "Idol"-bashing blog VoteForTheWorst.com, which encourages "Idol" watchers to purposely stuff the box with votes for the weakest contestants. "This truly is the worst top 24 in 'American Idol' history," Della Terza said. "If you notice, the only contestant in the entire top...

It’s normally a dangerous thing for an American Idol contestant to take on a song by such an accomplished singer as Alicia Keys, it’s up there with singing a Whitney Houston song, you’ve got to be great to pull it off.
So we were worried when we heard that Michelle Delamor would be attempting to sing ‘Falling’ on last night’s show. But we thought that she nailed it. She was sultry and smoky and though she didn’t deviate too much from the original version, she did sound fantastic to us.
Ellen DeGeneres: That was fantastic. It was safe and easy though and I feel like you have more in you.
Simon Cowell: You are a very professional singer. It was close to the original but not as good. There wasn’t one moment when I thought wow but I think you’ve done enough to get through.

Michael Lynche has reportedly been cut from the final 24 American Idol contestants, after his dad gave an interview to a local newspaper.
Michael made it through the Orlando round of auditions and on past the Hollywood stage, but his dad told The St. Petersburg Times, that he had made the top 24, violating AI rules.
If Lynche’s disqualification is true, it is the second year running that a finalist has been cut from the lineup. Last year, Joanna Pacitti, was sent off after making the top 36 when producers said it had been determined that she “is ineligible to continue in the competition.” She was then replaced by Felicia Barton.

We're almost three weeks away from the start of Hollywood Week (February 17), but it appears that "American Idol" has already lost one of its top 24 contenders. Word has been circulating for days that St. Petersburg, Florida, singer Michael Lynche — who auditioned in Orlando — allegedly made the cut but was then dropped after his dad, Marque Lynche Sr., told a local newspaper about the event.
In keeping with their veil of secrecy about internal goings-on, spokespeople for "Idol" could not be reached at press time to confirm whether Lynche has made the top 24 or has been dropped from it. But the St. Petersburg Times reported last Wednesday that Lynche — whose mother works for the paper — may have made the top 24. It was reported that Lynche's dad had confirmed the information about his son.

It will be so good to finally reach the real Top 12 next week. Some of Tuesday night.s performances were truly awful. The performance order was a surprise to no one. As predicted the .pimp. spot went to Lil Rounds.
American Idol: Season 8 Top 12 #3
As far as the girls were concerned, Lil Rounds was great. But, I do not like the manipulation in .giving. contestants the last spot. I feel very strongly performance order should be randomly selected always. The last three weeks, producer favorites were .given. the final performance of the evening. Week one the prime spot went to Danny Gokey, week two Adam Lambert and this week Lil Rounds . not fair to other contestants. Other girls performances that merited mention . Kristen McNamara was really good, as was Felicia Barton (with a couple off notes).

Sorry to spoil this first American Idol Top 12er here, but really... Was there any doubt that Lil Rounds would sail through? Ryan Seacrest waved her on even before any bad news was doled out Wednesday—and Kara DioGuardi predicted "just ridiculous vocals every single week" from the 23-year-old mother of three. But what of Scott MacIntyre, Kristen McNamara, Jorge Nuñez, Ju'Not Joyner, Felicia Barton and Von Smith, all of whom gave quality performances last night? Only two of that standout group got to advance, while the rest were either relegated to wild-card possibility or...well, obscurity. The action heated up after the top three were revealed, though, when the judges...

The next set of singers admitted to the Top 12 rounds of "American Idol" is read live on Wednesday, March 4. Along with the third batch, the judges will make the selection of eight people from the Top 36 that don't make it to the next round by vote. These 8 will proceed to the Wild Card round and sing on Thursday, March 5 for their last shot. The judges will fill in the three remaining spots with their choices.
First result is brought rather quick and practical. Lil Rounds, who stood among the crowd on the performance night, is asked to stand up and walk to the stool because she is in the Top 12. A string is called in next, Arianna Afsar, Taylor Vaifanua, Alex Wagner-Trugman, Kendall Beard and Scott MacIntyre. Ryan Seacrest says that only one of these gets to move on. Scott MacIntyre, the blind guy is in.
Seacrest then calls Nathaniel Marshall and Kristen McNamara,...

Tuesday TV's Big Winner, Besides Olivia Newton-John: Nathaniel Marshall, whose headband inspired Simon Cowell to name-check the "Physical" singer, got to do his stuff before American Idol's biggest crowd of the night: 26.1 million, per preliminary Nielsen estimates. Second-chance semifinalist Felicia Barton and the high-fiving Scott MacIntyre likewise got exposure in the show's typically most-watched segment from 9 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday TV's Other Big Winner: ABC, which waited out the two-hour Idol, then hauled out yet another postfinale Bachelor special—and found 10.9 million people still willing to hear out Jason Mesnick. The third and final batch of 12 hopefuls in "American Idol", are giving their last shot to vie for a stool in the Top 12. Performing on Tuesday, March 3 are the candidate who replaces disqualified Joanna Pacitti, the blind guy and mother of three who wants to get her family back to their feet after tornado demolished their house.
First in line is Von Smith who has a rather extravagant stage act while in audition rounds. He sings Marvin Gaye's "You All I Need to Get By", and apparently struggles not to scream by making his voice softer. The judges love it, with Simon Cowell commenting, "You remind me of Clay Aiken".
Taylor Vaifanua is only 17 but she is taller than anybody there. She is up next, singing Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You". Kara DioGuardi thinks the performance doesn't show her personality and Randy Jackson says it straightforwardly,...
