Harry Potter is one of the most popular franchises in the world, originally coming to life as a series of children’s novels written by author J.K. Rowling. For years, fans have fantasized about visiting the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the principal setting of the books and their multi-billion dollar grossing film adaptations.
A still from Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows- Part 2
However, one dark fan theory about the franchise proposes the idea that Hogwarts doesn’t really exist, at least not as a safe haven for young wizards. Instead, the fan theory reimagines and recontextualizes the story as an extended metaphor for mental health issues. As a result, the theory forces fans to grapple with the idea that Harry was never really a wizard and Hogwarts is a much darker place than they originally anticipated.

Joseph Millson is teaming up with Grammy and Oscar-winning composer Anne Dudley for Signs Of Life. More on that project below.
Joseph Millson, an actor known for his roles in Angel Has Fallen, Casino Royale and I Give It A Year, is set to make his directorial debut with Signs Of Life, a third part in a trilogy of films.
The two previous films, The Magician and Care and both were produced by Millson and his wife Sarah-Jane Potts under their production company MillPotts Productions. Talk about relationship goals!
Unlike The Magician and Care, which were both shorts, Signs Of Life will be a feature film.

Once again, the holidays – or is it holidaze? – are upon us, bringing with it a flurry of Christmas movies.
You have your endless parade of cartoons, specials, Christmas-themed episodes of your favorite TV shows, bad holiday comedies (1996’s Jingle All the Way and 2007’s Fred Claus come to mind), and Christmas-set horror movies (1984’s Gremlins). Then there’s the cheesy yet feel-good Lifetime and Hallmark films. And how can we forget the 24-hour marathon of 1983’s A Christmas Story (celebrating its 40th anniversary this year), beginning on Christmas Eve and ending on Christmas Day?
If those don’t do it for you, maybe these lists of Christmas movies will.
Classic Christmas Movies
You can’t go wrong with these classics, which can lighten the hearts of even the most ardent cynics.

You’re a wizard indeed–and only a wizard could work the sort of spell that was cast over children and adults all over the world beginning in the late ‘90s, turning the wildly successful Harry Potter books (we’re talking 120 million copies sold here) into one of the most profitable franchises ever.
With J.K. Rowling watching over the production diligently (sometimes to a fault), Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone aka …Sorcerer’s Stone was a marvel of an adaptation. And what eventually arrived didn’t come from a burly half-giant, but rather a wide-eyed cast of newcomers, a visionary crew conjuring the proper vision and the guy who directed Adventures in Babysitting…
So put on your sorting hat and head for Platform 9 ¾ as we find out…Wtf Happened to this movie?!
The making of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone goes back to 1997, the same year the novel was published.

Illinois pulled in a record-breaking $1.256 billion in qualified film and television production spending over the past two years. And with 14 existing soundstage facilities within city limits, Chicago is no toddling town.
In fact, with two additional sprawling studio complexes in the works, Chicago is setting its sights even higher, looking to further increase its production footprint.
The expansion is bolstered by the strength and stability of a 30% state tax credit locked in through 2032. “They made meaningful amendments last year … and are open for business — they are serious about supporting long-term growth, long-term commitment,” says Ashley Rice, co-managing partner and president of Cinespace Studios, whose ample space — more than 1.6 million square-feet — and plum location 15 minutes from downtown Chicago have established it as a market leader.

She’s joined by telepath and explicit lesbian Theo (Claire Bloom), as well as disbeliever Luke (Russ Tamblyn) for a scientific experiment to confirm the existence of the supernatural. Harry Melling is ready to leave Dudley Dursley behind, and it’s tough to blame him. Granted, this character did give him a career. From a young age, he was seen as the snotty little boy that tormented Harry Potter. He was spoiled rotten and was just about as bad as the book version. But wanting to move past this character wasn’t easy to do. This is the role that made him famous, after all. Dudley was the kid people loved to hate in the Harry Potter series. The mystery thriller The Pale Blue Eye stars Christian Bale as renowned detective Augustus Landor as he’s hired to track down a murderer. Though it’s based on a book by Louis Bayard, the narrative is not a true story. However, in Scott Cooper’s movie adaptation, which has landed on Netflix, there are elements of truth, notably around the young man who assists Landor at the military academy he is investigating—one Edgar Allan Poe. Brit Harry Melling plays Poe, the real life writer who would go on to be known as the godfather of the murder mystery, as well as a celebrated writer of macabre stories and poems.

The 33-year-old actor famously played Dudley in the eight-film franchise, but he said that he didn’t have the same experience as his co-stars.

Melling saw the fact that he wasn’t as easily recognizable in his daily as beneficial as well.

Grant is a suave stranger who stirs up the strained marriage of Niven and Loretta Young in this fey but beguiling seasonal tale
There’s an unworldly charm and odd, innocent solemnity to this Christmas fantasy comedy from 1947, now on rerelease, directed by Henry Koster and starring Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young. Approaching "The Haunting of Hill House" like a marathon feature film, writer-director Mike Flanagan aimed to retain as much of Shirley Jackson's bestselling story as much as possible, while expanding material -- the queer identity of Theodora, for example, could be more explicit than it could in 1959. But as with any Flanagan tale, every moment must justify itself and serve the greater story.
Monologues are vulnerable in the editing room due to their potential to lose viewer interest -- an actor has to really sell it for an audience to sit through a two or three minute speech. The "Oculus" director doesn't seem to mind; in fact, he tells Vulture that "a monologue paints a vivid mental picture if it's done right." "Hill House" features plenty of them, but one monologue was especially worth fighting for. He tells Vulture:
"I fought hard for each of the monologues in the show,...

Denzel Washington has a reputation as one of the best American actors of all time, and it's easy to understand why. First, there's the nine Oscar nominations for acting including two wins, but even if he hadn't been lauded so, his career speaks for itself. It began in earnest in the mid-1980s, when he started to make the transition from television drama "St. Elsewhere" to movies. Theater has also always been a presence for Washington, a Tony Award winner, especially the work of August Wilson.
Washington has certain directors who he has collaborated with many times, most famously Spike Lee. There's also Tony Scott, Antoine Fuqua, Edward Zwick, Jonathan Demme, and Carl Franklin. Since 2000, he has mainly made thrillers and played heroic characters, but ironically he won the Best Actor Oscar for one of his rare villainous roles. Washington always brings a magnetic charisma to whatever part he is playing,...

Is "American History X" empty provocation? Is it apologia for white supremacist gang culture? Is it a profoundly sad document of the tensions dominating '90s Los Angeles? The movie continues to be shocking and troubling as the years pass, from its shootout opening to its brutal, contradictory ending. Tony Kaye's 1998 film (which he would attempt to disown in very public confrontations with New Line Cinema) deals directly with racism and the environment that powers it. Focusing on prejudice from the perspective of racists in the crucible of gang violence was an inspired choice.
The movie's mood is set up by its opening titles, with Anne Dudley's score (sounding like doom; she used strings and a boy's choir to emphasize the neo-Nazis) over grainy, black-and-white images of Venice Beach. There's a suggestion of faded majesty, which point-of-view character Danny Vinyard (Edward Furlong) alludes to in voiceover, claiming "this...

Make no mistake when you walk into the second instalment of a Rohit Shetty-Ajay Devgan combo film, there is no room for any arty cinematic moments. Singham Returns is a reiteration of the Blockbuster hit film, Singham. Thankfully this one stays away from the remake category unlike the first one. So with cars to blow, Kareena to beautify the screen and Ajay to go all ‘Ataa Maaji Satakli’ on the baddies, lets step into the story realm.
Bajiao Singham (Devgan) is back with his ferocious attitude and walks into Mumbai, the city that never sleeps. Politics, power and prayers to the local Baba rule the roost. So naturally things wont stay the same, now that Singham is around. With Guruji (Anupam Kher) leading the social awareness aspect and bringing forth a younger generation of promising politicians into his party, feathers are ruffled for the bad guys. Unknown to them,...

Yet another remake hits Hindi screens and tries its hand with lady luck. This time it is hit combo Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn in the action avatar, Singham. But it’s not the fact of being a remake that sets a film a part or be detrimental to any film. In the scheme of the things, the audience has somewhat gotten used to every third film falling into one of the categories remake, sequel or second episode. The challenge is making it enjoyable for even the select section of the audience that has seen the original, no matter the language or the period. For this hit jodi, the need to go a step forward and bring out something bigger and better than the Tamil Blockbuster starring Suriya Sivakumar and Sweety [Anushka] Shetty, is far greater with the memory Ghajini so strong even now. Considering the statement made by director Rohit Shetty...
