The first film, Getting Rid of Matthew, based on the bestselling novel by Jane Fallon, follows Helen, who finally gets her wish after years of begging her lover Matthew to leave his wife. And immediately comes to regret it. Hernán Jiménez will direct from his own script.
The second feature, to be written and directed by Chris Hazzard & Michael Fontana, is an adaptation of Chris Archer’s book series Pyrates, which watches as a group of kids searches for Captain Kidd’s lost treasure in contemporary Manhattan.
Third on the docket is Kisses & Croissants, which writer-producer Elspeth Keller (Catching Babies) will adapt from the same-name Alloy novel by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau. That title follows 16-year-old American Mia,...

“Shazam!” star Zachary Levi is set to star in a new comedy with “Riverdale” actor Cole Sprouse called “Undercover,” set up at Lionsgate and Mandeville Films. Levi announced the news on his Instagram on Tuesday.
“Y’all, this is gonna be a real humdinger,” Levi said on Instagram. “It’s gonna be chock full of heart, humor, and some of the most iconic tunes of the last 50 years, that I get to Sing!!!”
In “Undercover,” Levi will play Jack, a down-on-his-luck rocker-turned-father, who, to make ends meet, secretly joins a group of young musicians in a wedding cover band led by misfit Ben, played by Sprouse. For some reason, Sony Pictures has decided to develop a remake of the 1987 Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger comedy Blind Date. This was actually Willis' very first feature film and I don't think I've ever seen it! The remake is said to take on the modern world of dating.
The movie will be written by Chris Hazzard and Michael Fontana and it will be produced by Davis Entertainment, the company behind Warner Bros’ Game Night and Fox’s forthcoming release, The Predator. It's crazy to me that they will remake this movie before they produce some great original script that is floating around Hollywood.
Here's the synopsis for the original 1987 film:
When bachelor Walter Davis (Bruce Willis) is set up with his sister-in-law’s pretty cousin, Nadia Gates (Kim Basinger), a seemingly average blind date turns into a chaotic night on the town. Walter’s brother, Ted (Phil Hartman), tells...

Exclusive: Sony Pictures is developing a remake of the 1987 Bruce Willis-starring comedy, Blind Date, and has tapped scribes Chris Hazzard and Michael Fontana to pen the script, which will take on the modern world of dating. Davis Entertainment, the company behind Warner Bros’ Game Night and Fox’s forthcoming release, The Predator, is attached to produce the project.
The original was directed by Blake Edwards and marked the first leading role for Willis. It followed bachelor Walter Davis (Willis) who is set up on a seemingly innocent blind date with his sister-in-laws’ cousin Nadia (played by Kim Basinger). As the evening goes on, Nadia begins to drink and her behavior gets increasingly wild leading to disastrous date night.
The film was a commercial success despite its negative reception by critics.
In addition, Hazzard and Fontana are currently in the process of casting Drunk Bus, a comedy film they wrote...
