Nashville Episode 10: ‘I’m Sorry For You, My Friend’
Written by: Dana Greenblatt
Directed by: Sanaa Hamri
Original Aidate: 16 January 2013
Never have I encountered as much confliction of feelings and opinions for a television show (I’m exaggerating here, humour me) quite like I have for Nashville.
A show that begun with such promise, such ease, with original music that gripped you instantly and regardless of waning storylines, still does. The show essentially established itself as the Smash of country music, trading Broadway for the Nashville music industry. I suppose the only accurate similarity of both shows is that it focuses on two female leads, one scenario involving fighting to get to the top, another fighting to remain at the top.
The similarities end there and aside from our two main ladies battling it out for the limelight, we’ve come to know the various men and women in...

Remember when Marilyn Manson and Hole tried to tour together in the mid-Nineties and how well it didn't go? Swap out teen angst for hard-worn heartache and fishnets and face makeup for cowboy boats and sparkling rompers and you essentially have last night's Nashville episode.
Since the first act of the show's pilot, rivaling country queen Rayna Jaymes and pop-country princess Juliette Barnes have lived, lied, loved and lost in the shadow of an on-again, off-again co-headlining arena tour. This week, the writers finally got the goddamn show on the...

Ladies and gentlemen, Nashville‘s Rayna-Juliette tour is on. But before the two country gals can hit the road, there are just a few little details to wrap up. Like Juliette yoking herself to one man for the rest of her life. And the paternity of Rayna’s elder daughter. Y’know, miniscule stuff. Elsewhere, Deacon’s in a weird place, and Scarlett vacillates between a very poor decision and a very good one. Turn your amplifiers up to 11, and let’s review the major developments of “Be Careful of Stones That You Throw.”

At this point it's safe to say that Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue" has a more complete character arc in three minutes and 44 seconds than Nashville has had in, what is it now, eight episodes? Sheesh. Following a tense episode last week, last night's installment (and the last episode of 2012) held devastating developments for Rayna and Teddy, but love in the air for Gunnar, Scarlett, Sean and Juliette.
Picking up where we left off , backstage at the Ryman, Rayna and Juliette's duet at the Edgehill Republic anniversary concert was a resounding success,...

Rayna got blackout drunk, Avery got dumped, Juliette got grounded and Teddy got a good 10 feet closer to the gates of personal political hell on last night's Nashville. Given three key characters we met in this episode, let's call it the good, the bad and the ugly.
First, the good: Sean Butler, a lackluster NFL rookie quarterback with a Tebow-esque heart of gold. Juliette meets the wholesome jock at a fundraiser he's hosting for zoo animals. Juliette, off-and-on ice queen that she is, hates animals – "If any of these adorable...

Rayna gets wasted in this week’s episode of Nashville, and yet hers is still the storyline you could nap through and not miss a thing. (How is that even possible?) Meanwhile, Juliette courts a squeaky-clean Qb, and the mayor’s race is about to get ugly. Let’s review the major developments in “You’re Gonna Change (or I’m Gonna Leave).”
