- Jason Wayne Schaver was born in Clinton, IA on August 3rd, 1977. He was pretty small for his age and was also very shy. He excelled in baseball and usually started at second base and made most of the local traveling All Star teams in Little League. In the summer he would often be found working on his grandmother's farm doing all sorts of chores. In his mid 20's he started writing screenplays (what would later become "The Truth About Average Guys" and "S.O.L.")
In 2008 he shot his first feature, "The Truth About Average Guys", with friend Ken Gayton. It went on to secure a distribution deal and win numerous awards at film festivals across the country. That gave Jason the confidence to shoot his 2nd film, "S.O.L.", which also won a couple awards and received critical praise as well. He hopes that his 3rd feature film, "Wingmen Incorporated", will put him on the map and help get him smaller roles in bigger budgeted comedies while he continues to make a name for himself in the low/no budget comedy genre.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Anonymous
- Was supposed to be married on September 5th, 2009 but it was called off in April of 2009.
- Originally wrote the role of "Jason" in The Truth About Average Guys for himself, but at the last minute decided to play the role of "Troy". He thought he would be better suited to play the "comedic relief" than to play the romantic lead for his first film.
- Wrote the original draft of "The Truth About Average Guys" back in 2001 in his parents' basement. Six years later (in 2007) he re-wrote it with friend and co-star Ken Gayton and filmed that version in 2008. Did the film festival circuit, got a distribution deal, and the film was released in stores across the country on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010.
- Was an All Star Second Baseman in little league.
- Lost 41 pounds getting ready for his role of "Stevenson" in the film Wingmen Incorporated. Went from 240 down to 199 from December 2011 to June 2012 when filming started on Wingmen Incorporated.
- [When asked "Are you like the character you played in "The Truth About Average Guys"?] I get asked this a lot (mainly from women I'm interested in dating). "Troy" is me if I drank a lot. He's not a bad guy, but he has no tact whatsoever. I am probably more like "Jason" than I am "Troy," but I didn't think I had the chops to play "Jason" so I decided to play "Troy" at the last minute.
- [Asked what lessons did you learn while making making "The Truth About Average Guys"?] I definitely learned that I need to find balance. It's okay to be focused and driven, but not at the expense of those closest to you. That is definitely something I will be more aware of in future relationships. Sometimes you have to take a step back and say "it's just a movie, it can wait".
- Honestly, if you've seen enough movies it's not really that hard to write one, especially if it's a movie you'd like to see. "The Truth About Average Guys" is a movie I would go see if someone else had made it
- I got a lot smarter once I realized I didn't know shit.
- I'm indie because I'm poor, not because I think it's some sort of badge of honor. A filmmaker that acts like they choose to be indie is lying.
