- The MTV Home (2009) challenge "Aushalten - Rauchen" ("Endure it - Smoking") which involved him and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf smoking various tobacco products nonstop while sitting in a car with closed windows resulted in him getting nicotine poisoning and being sick for 3 hours in the evening on the day it was filmed, never having smoked except for a brief couple of months as a teen. Longtime smoker Klaas Heufer-Umlauf did not smoke at the time the challenge was filmed either, having quit several years earlier, but ended up taking up smoking again two weeks after.
