Timothée Chalamet has been the star of the box office this week as his sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two has had a dream run. The film was released on March 1 to overwhelmingly positive reviews, with Chalamet’s performance as Paul Atreides being lauded along with director Denis Villeneuve’s vision. The film has reportedly earned $189 million worldwide.
However, the film is under threat of losing its No.1 spot as the upcoming week will see the release of the animated film Kung Fu Panda 4. The legacy sequel will see Jack Black return to the role of Po after eight years. Despite the mixed reviews from critics for the film, Kung Fu Panda is projected to give stiff competition to Dune: Part Two as it attracts family audiences.

With Super Bowl Lviii on the horizon, YouTube AdBlitz is taking the field. The annual hub has returned to host all of the commercials that will air during the Big Game in 2024.
AdBlitz is a tradition that dates back to 2006, just one year after YouTube’s initial launch. As the hub has evolved, it has incorporated new features while reeling in hundreds of millions of hours of watch time. YouTube’s relationship with the NFL has expanded as well. The leading video platform acquired the NFL Sunday Ticket package ahead of the 2023 season.
YouTube’s promotion of the coveted football subscription has opened up opportunities for its community of creators. Last year’s AdBlitz included appearances from creators like Logan Paul and Ksi, who bought a Big Game spot to support their beverage brand Prime Hydration.
As it brings AdBlitz back for another drive, YouTube is celebrating its prominent position...

I’ve had them and I’m sure you’ve had them. Lousy days at work will happen at some point and many times it’s our fault. We’ve “scrooched the pooch” as they say, made an error, perhaps a miscalculation or even an uncrossed”t”. What’s the worst that could happen? Well, we could get fired or perhaps suspended or given a “stern warning” maybe along with a verbal “dressing down”. Yes, that’s with most regular jobs, but what if your profession is life or death? But more toward the latter if you’re a “murder merchant”, or a “gun for hire”. That’s at the heart of a new thriller from one of the most inventive filmmakers of the last few decades. He gives us a look at a “very bad, no-good day”, leading to several wretched weeks in the life of The Killer.

This post contains spoilers for the two-part series premiere of Ahsoka, now streaming on Disney+.
The Star Wars Disney+ shows run by Jon Favreau and/or Dave Filoni have had a very delicate relationship with Clone Wars and Rebels, the two animated series that Filoni ran in the 2000s and 2010s. The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett have imported lots of characters who first appeared in animation, from Mandalorian aristocrat Bo-Katan Kryze to quick-drawing mercenary Cad Bane. But the central figures on both shows have either appeared exclusively or primarily in live-action.

Legendary director Werner Herzog, one of the founders of the German New Wave, whose films embrace obsessive quests and maddening conflicts with nature, will receive the American Society of Cinematographers’ Board of Governors Award at the 34th annual Asc Awards on January 25 (at Hollywood & Highland’s Ray Dolby Ballroom).
“Werner Herzog is truly a unique storyteller, and we are honored to recognize him for his prolific contributions to cinema,” said Asc President Kees van Oostrum.
Herzog has produced, written, and directed more than 70 feature and documentary films. His volatile, love-hate relationship with actor Klaus Kinski resulted in such powerful films as “Aguirre, the Wrath of God,” “Fitzcarraldo,” “Nosferatu the Vampyre,” and “Woyzeck.” Other masterpieces include “Stroszek” and “The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser,” both starring street musician-turned actor Bruno S.

Almost as soon as The Mandalorian premiered back in November, the world went crazy for Baby Yoda. The pint-sized puppet launched a thousand gifs, spawned endless memes and waddled his way into our collective hearts. Now that the first season has wrapped up and a second season is underway, fans are eager to find out more about this adorable yet deadly little Force-wielder.
One thing that’s caused a lot of debate is the character’s true name. Despite being known to the world in general as ‘Baby Yoda,’ he’s obviously not actually Yoda as a baby. In fact, the show’s production team don’t particularly like people referring to him by that name (despite even Disney CEO Bob Iger doing it). Within the context of the series, he’s The Child, but he does have an official name.

A review of The Mandalorian season finale, “Redemption,” coming up just as soon as we make the baby do the magic hands…
What a reassuring feeling it is, isn’t it, to be thrilled by the conclusion of a Star Wars story?
A week after the release of Rise of the Skywalker brought the main movie saga to a disappointingly frantic, muddled end(*), The Mandalorian wraps its first season in splendid form with “Redemption.” Admittedly, the eighth episode of a deliberately small Western pastiche that’s been around for two...

Having already confirmed the return of Emperor Palpatine in the film’s first trailer, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker wastes no time bringing the villain back into the fold, establishing his connection to the larger Sequel Trilogy in the movie’s opening minutes. But as J.J. Abrams’ latest flick charges forward with its exceedingly busy plot, one important question remains largely unaddressed: How exactly is Palpatine back?
Sure, you could point to that scene in Revenge of the Sith where Sheev tells Anakin about the “unnatural” abilities granted by the Dark Side of the Force. But even there, Palpatine implies that these powers have their limits when he recalls how his master Darth Plagueis “could save others from death, but not himself.”
And besides, given Disney’s track record of trying to answer every question and fill in every blank space in the Star Wars timeline, is the...
