A gasp went around the world when viewers learned that Marian (Louisa Jacobsen) has been teaching children watercolors in “The Gilded Age” Season 2, Episode 1.
Less of a gasp and more of a chuckle, really, as “The Gilded Age” did what it arguably does best, delivering an extremely minor narrative development with the intensity of something much more significant. The show is filled with such petty inconveniences, as well as actual serious developments, all of it sold to full effect by the cast and setting. Teaching watercolor probably was a big deal for a high-society unmarried woman in the 19th-century, but it’s exacerbated on “The Gilded Age” by Aunt Agnes’ (Christine Baranski) reaction. Truly, watching characters on the show react to everything from the wrong napkin to a secret child is one of the joys of watching this series.
To get some perspective, IndieWire picked a handful of major plot...

We are just days away from Season 2 of HBO’s “The Gilded Age,” and the excitement — at least on IndieWire’s TV team — is palpable. Julian Fellowes’ period drama about New York socialites in the late-19th century returns on October 29, sure to promise more scenery chewing and backstabbing from Christine Baranski, Carrie Coon, Cynthia Nixon, and the rest of the cast.
“The Gilded Age” Season 1 premiered in January 2022, so it’s been some time since viewers caught up with the old-school Upper East Side crew. Who hates whom, who stole someone else’s servant, who accidentally-almost slept with a maid, and who’s hiding their sexuality while pursuing a marriage? Some of it matters, some of it doesn’t — but all of it will be a treat to watch as both high and low drama unfold in Season 2.
Before that, here’s everything to remember about “The Gilded Age...

"Open the door!" Full Moon Features has released an official trailer for a kinky B-movie horror titled Don't Let Her In, one of these very bad creations that goes straight to the bargain bin. The film follows Ben and Amber, an attractive young couple who rent out an extra room in their spacious loft to Serena, an eccentric, beautiful female artist and... they soon live to regret it. Turns out she's actually some kinda vampire demon. A "sensual supernatural nightmare" from writer/director Ted Nicolaou. The film stars Kelly Curran, Cole Pendery, & Lorin Doctor. "I hope horror fans everywhere enjoy Don't Let Her In, an eerie story of aspiring young artists in LA, the insecurity of our perceptions and relationships, and how the shortage of affordable housing opens the door to a roommate from Hell." Indeed. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Ted Nicolaou's Don't Let Her In, direct...

Billy Bob Thornton starring in a B-movie creature feature should be enough for anyone to be sold, but now we have a trailer for Grizzly (formally known as Endangered and Red Machine) from Saw V director, David Hackl. The film follows two estranged brothers (James Marsden and Thomas Jane) and their girlfriends as they are hunted by a savage grizzly bear. The film doesn’t seem like it will transcend any monster movie tropes, but it looks like it might be some really bloody fun. This film may seem very similar to the 1976 film also called Grizzly, but nowhere does anyone seem to calling this new film a remake. The 1976 film itself is widely considered one of many late 70s era Jaws knockoffs, so we’re now in a time of knockoffs of knockoffs. Seriously though, this does look like it could make for a good time at the movies.

I think most people will be sold by the mere idea of a grizzly bear thriller starring Billy Bob Thornton. In case that doesn’t, Billy Bob Thornton has set out to give Red Machine a synopsis in his own words. Check it out:
James Marsden (X Men, Enchanted) and Thomas Jane (Hung, yes, and so good in The Mist) are a pair of estranged brothers who enter the wilderness. Marsden, fresh out of jail, is the ne’er-do-well who has come home to settle somed unfinished business. Jane is the town sheriff who helps his fiancée track the local fauna. Their outing in the great white north takes off, but goes horribly south when they are attacked, then relentlessly pursued by a monstrous and seriously territorial grizzly bear. This is clearly not Yogi Bear or Gentle Ben territory because this particular specimen of Ursus arctos horribilis goes by the nickname Red Machine.

One project we haven't heard about in a bit is Red Machine, the man-versus-nature thriller directed by David Hackl (Saw V) and starring James Marsden, Piper Perabo, Thomas Jane, Billy Bob Thornton, Scott Glenn, Kelly Curran, Michaela McManus and Adam Beach. While we await release plans for the film (we're told it has found a home and is awaiting a release date), let's turn our attention to Thornton's official site where the man explains the film in his own word...

Star Thomas Jane took to his official blog where he shared a behind-the-scenes look at Saw V director David Hackl's Red Machine that depicts The Mist star standing off against an enormous bear! "How I spent my b-day!" jokes the actor. James Marsden, Piper Perabo, Billy Bob Thornton, Scott Glenn, Adam Beach, Michaela McManus and Kelly Curran also star in Indomitable Entertainment and Paul Schiff Productions' flick that "centers around two estranged brothers (Marsden, Jane) who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear -- the Red Machine." Rick Cleveland and J.R. Reher wrote Red Machine, which Tai Duncan, Dominic Ianno, Stuart Pollack, Hadeel Reda, Paul Schiff, and David Valleau will produce. Shooting is taking place in Vancouver.

It was announced just a few weeks ago that James Marsden, Thomas Jane and Billy Bob Thornton were leading David Hackl‘s latest project, Red Machine; and now, Variety reports that Scott Glenn, Adam Beach, Michaela McManus and Kelly Curran have rounded out the cast for the thriller.
The script is written by J.R. Reher and “centers around two estranged brothers (Marsden, Jane) who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear — the Red Machine.” Thorton plays a “legendary bear expert and hunter”, who will inevitability save the terrified campers (I have a feeling that this part was somehow made for him).
The combination of Marsden, Jane and Thornton and these new additions bring a mix of vets and relatively unknowns. McManus has gotten some exposure on the...

When I first read about Red Machine, the new film from director David Hackl, the plot description made it sound like it was going to be a fairly small movie. The story involves two estranged brothers who decide to go on a camping trip with their girlfriends and end up being stalked by the eponymous grizzly bear. My perception was that the movie would be a survivalist drama that would focus on the small group and be more of a character study that looked at how the players would survive under the worst of conditions. Now that I've seen the extended cast list, it looks as though that won't be the case. According to a new report from Variety, Red Machine has completed its casting and James Marsden, Thomas Jane, Piper Perabo and Billy Bob Thornton will be joined by Scott Glenn, Adam Beach, Michaela McManus and Kelly Curran. While...

Review by Amanda Reyes
Starring Antonio Sabato Jr., Kostas Sommer, Kelly Curran
Directed by Michael Feifer
Written by Michael Feifer, Wood Dickinson, Christopher Ryan
Since Henry was all about confessions, I thought I’d start my review with one: I am a pretty voracious true crime nut and I’ve always been drawn to films about the “superstar” serial killers, such as Dahmer, Bundy and, you guessed it, Henry Lee Lucas. Like good ol’ Ed Gein, Lucas has inspired a tale or two about his supposed rampage across the country. I say supposed because Lucas confessed to a few hundred some odd murders and then rescinded most of them...
He became most famous to casual crime followers when the excellent horror film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer enjoyed a small theatrical release in 1989. John McNaughton’s shocking film was only loosely based on Lucas, but was such a searing...
