“Ain’t gonna let nobody make me take my chair home. God made me. I belong here. I got a right to a seating’s the place. The only time you can take my chair is when I die and go to heaven. Until then I’m fighting.”
That was Rev. Dr. William Barber at a press conference today speaking about the incident where he was asked to leave the AMC Fire Tower 12 in Greenville, N.C. after a dispute over seating.
Bishop Barber, 60, has long suffered from a form of arthritis known as ankylosing spondylitis. He travels with his own chair and almost always uses it instead of the seating provided in public spaces.
Tuesday, however, he says employees at the theater would not allow him to use his special chair, saying it was a fire hazard. Only wheelchairs were permitted, he was told. He was asked to leave,...

“Panama,” the latest offering from The Mel Gibson Movie of the Month Club, is the sort of instantly disposable action-thriller that wears its cynicism on its sleeve while laboring to grab attention with quick-cut visuals. Those combine with more gratuitous nudity than you can shake a stick at — without, it should be noted, any sticks — to goose a narrative that is tediously predictable when not borderline incoherent. It is notable primarily for the presence of Cole Hauser, star of TV’s phenomenally popular “Yellowstone,” who earns his top billing by doing most of the heavy lifting for his sporadically glimpsed but frequently heard co-star.
In terms of facilitating a transition from television to features, “Panama” may do more for Hauser than, say, “Macho Callahan” ever did for David Janssen. Hauser fully commits to his role as Becker, an ex-Marine who free-lances for the CIA, using his macho charm, intimidating snarl,...

Tamron Hall apologizes as she joins a conference call with a handful of reporters just a few days before the Sept. 9 premiere of her new self-titled talk show. "Forgive me - my voice is hoarse and I'm also hiding in a corner of my child's nursery, trying not wake him up," she says with a quiet laugh. Since her newsmaking departure from Today - which came just before Megyn Kelly's controversial and short tenure on the third-hour of the morning show commenced in 2017 - Hall has gotten married and had her first child. And while she starts the conversation on a personal note, the interview quickly turns political.
The first reporter to ask a question inquires about her "friendship" with Donald Trump - a characterization Hall says was "a loose interpretation" and "probably unfair to me" - whether they talk, and whether she'd have him as a guest on her show.
