Kuala Lumpur, July 26 (Ians) Malaysia seamer Syazrul Idrus on Wednesday became the first man to take seven wickets (7/8) in a T20I, achieving the feat against China during the opening game of the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Regional Qualifier B tournament at Bayuemas Oval, here.
All seven wickets taken by Idrus were bowled as he consistently swung the ball into the batters. The pacer broke Peter Aho’s record for the best bowling figures in a men’s T20Is. Playing for Nigeria, Aho had picked up 6 for 5 against Sierra Leone in 2021.
Notably, a total of 12 bowlers had previously claimed six-wicket hauls in a Men’s T20I — including India duo Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal, Australia spinner Ashton Agar and Sri Lanka tweaker Ajantha Mendis — but an elusive seven-wicket haul had never been recorded until Idrus’ amazing effort.

Cuttack, Sep 26 (Ians) After losing their last match against India Capitals, Gujarat Giants will be looking to make amends and a strong comeback in the Sky247.net Legends League Cricket (LLC) when they take on Bhilwara Kings at the Barabati Stadium on Tuesday.
Gujarat Giants will be hugely relying on Tillakaratne Dilshan to do the job for them. In his heydays, Dilshan was known for his aggressive batting style, technique and timing. All that mastery was on show on Sunday when he hit an unbeaten 75 off 59 balls against India Capitals.
The former Sri Lanka stalwart, who captained the Giants in place of Virender Sehwag, treated and thrilled the fans with beautiful shots all around the park, giving the bowlers no respite. Eventually, though, his terrific knock went in vain.
Dilshan, though, will hope to continue in the same form on Tuesday. But it won’t be easy.

New Delhi, Sep 23 (Ians) The final of Legends League Cricket (LLC) will be held at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack October 5, the organisers annonced on Friday.
Legendary cricketers described the League as “serious” business where the superstars, many of whom are as efficient as they were in their prime, do not yield an inch without a fight.
While former India batter Mohammed Kaif covered a lot of ground near the fence before taking a diving catch and made the fans nostalgic about his brilliant fielding skills, the swashbuckler Yusuf Pathan has been playing as if he has never retired. Stars like Kevin O’Brien and Ashley Nurse have also hit scintillating centuries.
All this has generated a tremendous response from the fans, said Raman Raheja, the Co-Founder and CEO of Legends League Cricket.

Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc was at his menacing best against West Indies in the World Cup tie which Australia managed to win at Trent Bridge.
On Thursday, Starc himself delivered the coup de grace, claiming the first five-wicket haul of the tournament to derail West Indies' pursuit of 289 in Nottingham. He returned with figures of 5/44 and played a pivotal role in Australia's 15-run win over Windies.?
Picking up his sixth five-wicket haul in his 77th Odi, Starc became the fastest bowler ever to take 150 wickets in the 50-over format, one match quicker than Pakistan great Saqlain Mushtaq, who achieved the feat in 78 matches.?
Next in the list is Trent Boult of New Zealand who reached the landmark in 81 ODIs, followed by Brett Lee (82) and Ajantha Mendis (84).
After his sensational performance, off-spinner Nathan Lyon labeled Starc 'Float' on Instagram, presumably an acronym for 'Fastest Left-Armer Of All Time', reports cricket.com.
