"Why are you here?" "Revenge." What a line. XYZ Films has revealed an official trailer for an action movie called Hounds of War, a new movie from the action director Isaac Florentine. This one will be released on VOD directly starting in September. Hounds of War about the best military mercenaries money can buy. Known as "The Hounds", they are sent on a final mission by their creator: a carefully planned trap set up to destroy them. So another "trap" movie to play against M. Night Shyamalan's Trap? Sure why not. Hounds of War stars Rhona Mitra, Robert Patrick, and Frank Grillo, with Steven Elder, Yvonne Mai, Joey Ansah, Lee Charles, and Mark Strange. Looks like it was filmed mostly on Malta, which is an infamous tax haven and a nice place to save money making a movie, even though it's not the most exciting place to shoot something this generic & derivative.

Stars: Scott Adkins, Ashley Greene, Waleed Elgadi, Ryan Phillippe, Emmanuel Imani, Dino Kelly, Jack Parr, Jess Liaudin, Lee Charles | Written by Jamie Russell | Directed by James Nunn
One Shot is both the title of the new Scott Adkins film, it’s also the film’s gimmick and reason for being made in the first place. Director James Nunn, working from a script by Jamie Russell, has given us a feature-length action film shot in one continuous take.
Needless to say, One Shot keeps the plotting to a minimum. CIA operative Zoe Anderson has been assigned to bring terrorist Amin Mansur (Waleed Elgadi; Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar) from a Black Site to the US for questioning. The base’s commander Jack Yorke doesn’t think that’s a good idea and is refusing to release him.

It hasn’t taken long for writer/director Ross Boyask to follow up 2018’s Vengeance (aka I Am Vengeance) with a sequel, probably because that film struck a massive chord with genre fans across the globe – respecting the action genre’s vast, and may I say beloved, past, whilst delivering a modern take on the traditional Dtv action film; and, of course, featuring Stu Bennett in a compelling lead role. I’m guessing that the fact Bennett was on UK screens as part of World of Sport wrestling And had a huge name presence thanks to his former WWE career didn’t hurt either.

"You're a traitor, you're a murderer." Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for the action movie I Am Vengeance: Retaliation, a sequel to the action movie I Am Vengeance from 2018. Former special-forces soldier John Gold is given the opportunity to bring Sean Teague - the man who betrayed his team on their final mission in Eastern Europe several years ago - to justice. Gold would cheerfully see Teague dead, but he is convinced to help transport him to a military prison to pay for his crimes. Along the way, Gold will have to fight off Teague's team trying to extract him. Starring Stu Bennett and Vinnie Jones, plus Lee Charles, Katrina Durden, Joe Egan, Josh Myers, & Bentley Kalu. Yet another dime-a-dozen bland action flick. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Ross Boyask's I Am Vengeance: Retaliation, from YouTube: Former special-forces soldier John Gold (Stu Bennett) is given...

The series Gangs Of London, co-created by Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, is an epic, violent and incredibly cinematic new show which reinvents the London underworld. Each episode – or block of episodes – has its own tone and arc and feels like a film in its own right, but none more so than episode five. It’s a breakaway from the timeline – taking place after episode two – and it’s a break away from London, taking place mostly in Wales, where Evans is from.
Episode five is directed by Gareth Evans himself, who made The Raid movies, and you can see certain elements and preoccupations from those films come through. We sat down with Evans – via Zoom – to talk through the details of the centrepiece episode from Gangs Of London.
“We knew we wanted to have this overriding arc throughout the entire season. It felt like we were making nine films...

With a title like Gangs Of London, you might imagine the new British television thriller would contain a fair amount of violence. And with it being the brainchild of The Raid director Gareth Evans, you might think that violence would be manifested in a series of big, bold, deftly handled action set-pieces.
Well, you’d be right on both counts. Evans and co-creator Matt Flannery – together with guest directors Corin Hardy and Xavier Gens – have crafted an epic, nine-part organized crime saga featuring some top-tier throwdowns.
From brutal one-on-one combat to spectacular shoot-outs to intense mind games, here are some of our favorite skirmishes from the show. This list covers the entire series and, suffice to say, there are spoilers ahead, so you might want to come back if you haven’t binged the whole thing yet.

"Who are you?" "Just a courier." Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for the cheesy action film The Courier, an "intense action-thriller" that unfolds in real time. If you haven't had enough of the Transporter movies, there's even more in this. Olga Kurylenko stars as a badass female motorcycle courier who must fight off a sadistic crime boss' henchmen in order to protect the one witness that can bring him down. She discovers that one of the packages might not be as harmless as she was told. Also starring Gary Oldman, Dermot Mulroney, William Moseley, Alicia Agneson, Craig Conway, Amit Shah, Lee Charles, and Joel Michaely. I'm digging Oldman with the eye-patch, but the rest of this looks terrible - derivative, and bland, and cliche. What's with the voices sounding so weird? Might as well skip it, doesn't look so good. Here's the first official trailer (+ UK version / poster) for Zackary Adler's The Courier,...

Horror comedy is very difficult to get right. Managing to cause laughs and scares is always a tricky balance, especially over the length of a feature film. The Evil Dead 2 is often held up as the best example of the genre, but I would probably update this to Tucker and Dale vs. Evil which managed to be sweet, funny and feature some very memorable and violent scenes. Cannibals and Carpet Fitters is, much like Snakes on a Plane, a title that makes me smile. It earns an awful lot of good will through title alone. But beyond the amusing Cockney vs. Zombies-style title there must...
