- Best known for his song "Rum and Coca Cola," originally written in 1941; the lyrics were plagiarized by then-songwriter Morey Amsterdam who turned it into a hit single for the The Andrews Sisters. Lord Invader sued Amsterdam and eventually won, although Amsterdam was allowed to keep the copyright.
- The young Rupert Grant started composing and singing calypso songs in the Trinidadian countryside. When he left his home of San Fernando to make his way to the capital city, Port of Spain, his tailor remarked "I tell you, Rupert, you should call yourself Lord Invader so when you go up to the city you be invadin' the capital." Thus "Lord Invader" was born.
