A lot has been recently said about Danny Boyle’s upcoming series of sequels for 2002’s post-apocalyptic horror 28 Days Later, but not much has been revealed about Cillian Murphy’s role in them — until now.
The actor who initially starred in the original movie, to many fans’ biggest delight, will be back not only as an executive producer, but also as an actor. The hitch here is that now his role will be pretty much different.
According to Hollywood’s insider Jeff Sneider, Murphy won’t be returning in the first movie, but will nonetheless have a big cameo in the second one and an even bigger role in the third one.
The news hasn’t been confirmed officially and so far neither Boyle himself nor the movies’ writer Alex Garland (who’s probably busy coping with all the raving success of his latest movie Civil War) have said...

Cillian Murphy will be returning for the new 28 Years Later trilogy of films – but, and look away if you don’t want to know, his involvement isn’t straightforward.
Ever since it was revealed back in February that we’d be getting another film in the 28 Days Later series, the good news tap hasn’t turned off.
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are back to reprise their creative partnership of director and writer. Cillian Murphy – the star of the original film – publicly declared that he was making himself ‘available’ and if all of that wasn’t good enough, we then heard that no less than Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes would lead the cast for the new film.
Now, thanks to a report from Jeff Sneider (via World Of Reel), we’ve got an insight regarding Cillian Murphy’s involvement.

If you missed out on the racy pop culture phenomenon that was Killing Eve during its initial run on BBC America, you’re in luck. All four seasons (totaling 32 episodes) are now available to stream on Netflix, and you’re in for a rush of highs and lows when you do settle in to watch this intense cat-and-mouse game of a show. The series centers on disgraced agent Eve (Sandra Oh), who is recruited by mysterious MI6 operative Caroline (Fiona Shaw) to join a secret unit tracking the deadly Villanelle (Jodie Comer), and there are many, many twists, turns, and shockers to be found throughout. Part of the initial appeal of Killing Eve was its watercooler effect, though, as the series definitely had people talking with each episode — for better and for worse. So to make sure you don’t miss out on that aspect of the show’s fun,...

The actor has signed up to star in 28 Years Later, an upcoming post-apocalyptic movie directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, whose most recent hit Civil War is now blowing all the theaters up.
Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer and Harry Potter’s Ralph Fiennes are also in. The plot details are still under wraps, but the film will surely have connections with the 2002 original horror 28 Days Later that starred Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris.
The original storyline revolves around bicycle courier Jim, portrayed by Murphy, who wakes up from coma amid a global pandemic caused by some aggression-inducing virus. In an attempt to survive, Jim will have to team up with a few lucky ones who haven’t turned into furious zombies yet.

Danny Boyle's lo-fi 2002 zombie apocalypse film "28 Days Later" caused a stir in the horror community for its grainy digital photography (shot by Anthony Dod Mantle) and for its introduction of "fast zombies" into the pop vernacular. The zombies in "28 Days Later" were, unlike most movie zombies seen up to that point, fast-moving and vicious rather than mindless and shambling. It is credited for breathing new life into the zombie genre, followed as it was by other zombie hits like the "Dawn of the Dead" remake, George Romero's "Land of the Dead," and the hit 2010 series "The Walking Dead." "28 Days Later" also tapped into a lot of America's post-9/11 ennui, presenting hard-edged images of urban desolation. Everyone felt like the world had ended, and Boyle aesthetically agreed.

Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian” has been one of the trickiest classic novels to adapt for the screen, but it now has a three-time Oscar nominee who may finally crack it.
John Logan, the writer of “Gladiator,” “The Aviator,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Skyfall,” and the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic “Michael,” has been tapped to adapt “Blood Meridian” into a feature film.
Last year, New Regency announced it was developing a feature film based on the 1985 Western novel, and the studio attached John Hillcoat — who previously directed McCarthy’s “The Road” — to direct the film. Hillcoat is also directing and producing “Blood Meridian” alongside Keith Redmon for New Regency.
Cormac McCarthy is getting a posthumous executive producer credit on the film, and his son John Francis McCarthy is also serving as an EP.

Three time Oscar-nominated scribe John Logan is adapting National Book Award-winning author Cormac McCarthy’s novel Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West for the big screen for New Regency.
John Hillcoat, who previously adapted McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road, will direct and produce along with Keith Redmon for New Regency.
The sprawling novel is widely considered one of the greatest works of American literature. Published in 1985, Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West is an epic tale of the violence and depravity that attended America’s westward expansion which brilliantly subverts the conventions of the Western novel and the mythology of the Wild West. Based on historical events that took place on the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850s, it traces the fortunes of a 14-year-old Tennesseean who stumbles into a nightmarish world where Indians are being murdered and the market for their scalps is thriving.

One week ago was the second anniversary of the end of Killing Eve after four seasons. But as great as the show was, with no small amount of fascinating murderous dynamics between the leads, many of us were incredibly disappointed by the finale.
After all, not only did the writers utilize the generally despised 'bury your gays' trope by ruining one of the most vibrant, albeit insane queer couples on TV, but they also killed off one of the best characters ever created, the psychopathic but lovable assassin Villanelle.
Villanelle is a great character in her own right, thanks to the writing prowess of Luke Jennings, but she wouldn't be as well known and loved if it weren't for the performance of the great Jodie Comer on the show. The actress has come a long way from British soap operas to one of the best projects in television history, from...

Just in case you haven’t picked up Alone in the Dark yet, Pieces Interactive and Thq Nordic have released a new Accolades trailer for the reimagining of the cult classic “that set the benchmark for an entire genre.” Mixed in amongst the quotes and scores are various clips and quips from Alone in the Dark‘s eclectic cast of characters, as well as scenes of the various Eldritch horrors Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood face throughout the game.
And if the accolades trailer still hasn’t convinced you to plunk your cash down for Alone in the Dark, you can also check out the free Prologue, which is still very much available.

No matter what you think of the Killing Eve finale, you can't deny that the thriller show is a true gem of the crime genre, and Jodie Comer's character Villanelle definitely played a large role in its success.
Villanelle was unpredictable, dangerous, charismatic and even mesmerizing in the mix of her villainous nature and seemingly "fun" personality. Killing Eve has been over for two years, and now that it landed on Netflix, it may be painful to dive back into the show's universe only to know that it's finished.
Well, Jodie Comer will soon return to our screens in yet another crime drama, so the Killing-Eve-shaped hole in your heart may be filled — even though her role is drastically different this time.
Comer, joined by Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, returns to crime genre in her new movie The Bikeriders that follows a Chicago outlaw motorcycle club. Here, there...

As Killing Eve's popularity grows following its recent addition to Netflix in April 2024, does the possibility of a Season 5 renewal for the series exist, or will the powers that be let sleeping dogs lie?
Killing Eve was a massive critical darling until it wasn’t. The spy thriller, which starred Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, saw its two leads embroiled in a continual cat-and-mouse game as Eve and Villanelle tried to outwit each other in their deadly feud.
Viewers everywhere couldn’t get enough of the pair’s vicious byplay, but the show’s final episode, featuring a fatal gunshot from an offscreen assailant, eradicated much of the goodwill fans had for Killing Eve. And so, the series entered the pantheon of good shows with arguably bad endings.

CinemaCon attendees Wednesday got a first look at Focus Features’ second film with Robert Eggers, Nosferatu, a dark and gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her which causes untold horror in its wake.
Introducing the footage, Focus chairman Peter Kujawski said, “This ain’t your father’s Nosferatu” and promised it will give “new meaning to the term Christmas feast when we open on December 25.”
In the footage, we see the terror and hysteria rampant in the village as various townsfolk shriek, “He is coming” after the young woman calls to him seemingly in a nighttime trance. “My dreams grow darker,” she says, and asks Willem Dafoe’s Professor Von Franz, “Does evil come from within us, or from beyond?”

Deadline reports that Candyman director Nia DaCosta is in talks to helm the second installment of the upcoming 28 Years Later trilogy set up at Sony Pictures.
The first installment of the 28 Years Later trilogy will be directed by Danny Boyle and scripted by Alex Garland, with production expected to kick off later this year. The report states that the sequel will start shooting immediately after, which is why Sony is already in the process of locking down DaCosta. The studio also wants to make sure each director is on the same page in regard to the story while also having time to bring their own vision to life. Garland will be scripting each installment of the trilogy.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but recent rumours have pointed to Jodie Comer and Charlie Hunnam being in talks to star in 28 Years Later.

Even though it’s only the start of April, it’s already been one hell of a year for Austin Butler. The Elvis actor started 2024 by taking to the skies in Apple TV+’s wartime drama Masters Of The Air, before blowing everyone away in Dune: Part Two with his transformative take on the fearsome Feyd-Rautha. His stellar run is set to continue later in the year with The Bikeriders – the long-awaited motorcycle club drama from acclaimed filmmaker Jeff Nichols, based on photojournalist Danny Lyon’s 1968 tome documenting biker gang the Outlaws. It’s a film set to send Butler into Easy Rider mode.

With shooting set to start imminently, reports are suggesting that Jodie Comer may be starring in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later.
Fans of 2002’s 28 Days Later are all too aware of the decades-long gap that exists between Danny Boyle’s 2002 zombie horror and his follow-up, expected to release in cinemas sometime next year. While it might not quite be 28 Years Later, as the upcoming film’s title suggests, it won’t be far off – in fact, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for this film to happen.
Still, every nugget of news we’ve heard thus far has made the waiting worthwhile.
Boyle returning to direct; Alex Garland once again writing the script; Cillian Murphy making himself available to return. Sony backing the project with around $60m, precisely the kind of sum that should mean the project should have some creative leeway.
It’s all welcome news.

These savvy pundits from major media outlets have chimed in with their first set of predictions, and they say the trophy will go to Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”). The other potential nominees at this early stage are Emma Stone (“The Curse”), Imelda Staunton (“The Crown”), Juliette Binoche (“The New Look”), Rosario Dawson (“Ahsoka”) and Carrie Coon (“The Gilded Age”) — but that could all change in the coming months.
As of this writing, four out of our nine Emmy Experts predict a victory for Aniston: Clayton Davis (Variety), Jazz Tangcay (Variety), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby) and Ray Richmond (Gold Derby). Selena Gomez has seen her “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars and guest stars get nominated for and win Emmys the past two years while she sat on the sidelines. Will the third time finally be the charm? She’s currently in fifth place in the Best Comedy Actress odds. Given her previous snubs, you’d be justified to doubt her chances, but we’ve been through this before with a twice snubbed actress-singer who pulled through on her third try under very similar circumstances: Mandy Moore.
“This Is Us” was a breakout hit when it premiered in 2016 on NBC. In 2017, it earned 10 Emmy nominations for its freshman installment, including Best Drama Series and seven acting bids — but not for Moore in Best Drama Actress. It won two awards: Best Drama Actor for Sterling K. Brown, who prevailed over his TV dad Milo Ventimiglia, a surprise nominee, and Best Drama Guest Actor for Gerald McRaney,...

Thq Nordic has finally returned fans to the Alone in the Dark series, with an exciting new story and plenty of puzzles to complete. Whether you play as Jodie Comer’s Emily Hartwood or David Harbour’s Edward Carnby, you will likely want some firepower.
While there are a few different weapons you will unlock in the game, the shotgun is one that can be obtained early and easily. It will make quick work of your enemies, and once you have killed an opponent with the firearm, the Hard Boiled trophy will be achieved.
The only thing you will need to do to get the shotgun is find three specific lagniappes, which are collectibles that have been disbursed throughout the game. They can all be found at the beginning of Chapter 2, which means there will be a lot of time where the gun is useful, as you continue through the...

Alone in the Dark is an extremely important franchise within the sub-genre of survival horror. The first game in the series is considered by many to be the first true survival horror video game ever released. Thus, without this franchise, other iconic survival horror titles like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alan Wake may never have come to pass.
This is one reason that this reimagining of the original Alone in the Dark was my most anticipated 2024 release, the other reason is because survival horror remakes have been knocking it out of the park lately. Last year alone saw Capcom expertly remaster the iconic Resident Evil 4, after the year opened with EA releasing a masterful remake of the original Dead Space.
All of this combined with the star power of David Harbour and Jodie Comer in the lead roles meant that Pieces Interactive’s 2024 reimagining of Alone in the Dark...
